Friends forever

LOC

Hello everyone! Today I have a card I made for my design team sisters and Layers of Color owner, Laura... Due to my own personal limitations, and not wanting stamping to consume my whole life, I have decided to step down from the "official" design team but I am not going far! I am going to be a "Friend of Layers of Color", and I will continue to use and blog Layers of Color products because I love them and they are so fun! You may even see me popping in on a blog hop from time to time! :) I feel some sadness in doing this because this is truly such a special company and design team!!! I love every one of my sisters...and Laura is such a special godly woman... but that won't change! We decided to have the theme of our blog hop today "Friends Forever", because that is how we all feel. So I decided to choose as joyful an image as I could find to celebrate this forever kind of friendship! I chose Layers of Color Reindeer Waltz because these guys just look like they are having a blast together... and it's the way I feel about this team! I used Webster's Pages, some unknown aqua on which I stamped images from this set with VersaMark and heat embossed with Kaleidoscope embossing powder. I used Spellbinder's Labels 17 for my main panel and matted that with a Beaded Oval which I cut in order to enlarge it to show around the Label 17. I used some dotted ribbon from my stash and the little sentiment is hard to see in the photo, but it's from Studio G and says "friends for life".

I do want to thank Laura for the opportunity she gave me to be on this team and I am honored to have been here for the past 8 months. I appreciate the sweet godly spirit present in each DT member! What a special place to be!

Please be sure to keep your eye out for great new things coming your way from Layers of Color!!! It's exciting to watch God bless a company that's focused on Him!

This isn't goodbye... it's just a slight adjustment in responsibilities and commitments... so I'll be seeing you all frequently and I do hope you'll come visit me too! I love you all, and pray God's richest blessings on each one of you and on Layers of Color!

Victorian Framed Encouragement

victorain-framed-grace

Happy Sunday! I hope those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving had a wonderful holiday, and lots of time to thank the Lord for His many blessings! Today we have a new Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge for you. Lisa is this week's hostess and she has chosen Philippians 4: 13 for this week's Scripture:

" I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

The challenge is to make a card/project of encouragement or congratulations.

I love this verse and remind myself of it often. In our own power and strength, we can do nothing, but when we are yielded to His will in our lives, `He gives us just what we need when we need it! Have you ever been through a terribly difficult time and thought you just couldn't make it through? But then, from somewhere, you got the strength to go on and looking back on it you realize that that strength was straight from God! I chose this sentiment from Our Daily Bread designs Grow in Grace, because it goes hand in hand with our theme this week. Whether you need encouragement to just keep moving on one step at a time, or whether you stand on the edge of a big leap of faith... He promises to give you the grace you need when you need it! In myself I can do nothing, but in Christ, I can do whatever He wants me to do!

The frame I used is from Layers of Color, and is the Victorian Frame cling art stamp. I just love this frame and how perfectly it fits the Spellbinders Labels 14. I love how it frames the sentiment from Our Daily Bread designs. I wanted a soft feminine feel to this, so I lightly chalked the frame and matted it on some pretty soft Websters pages and lace. I added Prima flowers and butterfly and punched some leaves from the Prima packaging. It was a super quick card as I had very little time to create this weekend!
Our Sponsor this week is Score Pal ! We want to thank them for their generous donation and support of Stampin Sisters in Christ! Be sure to check the SSIC blog for all the prize details!

Today I wanted to show you another sneak peek at the fabulous Ornament set being released by Our Daily Bread designs! I am absolutely in love with this ornament and it is designed to fit in the Spellbinder's Heirloom Ornament frame! I used Midnight Madness Sketch 81 for this card, stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored with Copics. My base is Bazzill and the two dps are Memory Box Mistletoe Pack. For embellishments I added gold pearls, sheer ribbon and gold swirls from the Spellbinder's set "Fanciful Holidays". On the inside of the card I stamped one of the new Our Daily Bread designs sentiments from the "Christmas Blessings" set. I stamped it in a smaller die cut from the ornament spellbinders set, and love how perfectly it fit in it! ODBD is so honored to have been chosen as a Spellbinder's Preferred company, which means the stamping community will continue to be blessed with specially designed images and Scriptures to custom fit Spellbinder's dies! Give thanks to the Lord

Give-Thanks-to-the-Lord

Hello everyone! With Sunday comes another Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge!
Today our hostess is the sweet and talented Miesje. For this week's Scripture, Miesje chose

Psalm 107:1 "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love endures forever."

Miesje's Challenge: create a card/project showing thankfulness to God.

I have to say I was happy when Miesje chose this Scripture and challenge, because it seems like every year, the Christmas decorations and toys appear earlier and earlier in the stores, and Thanksgiving just gets lost in the Christmas rush! It's interesting that in Romans 1, where we read that difficult passage that talks about God's wrath on unbelief and how eventually He "gives them over" to a depraved mind...at the top of the list of sins, is the sin of ungratefulness. Rom. 1:21 ""For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened." I think we live in times where people are arrogant and when they have much, they tend to think it's because "they have earned it"... and few people stop to give God thanks, for even their ability to earn anything is a gift from Him! Really, we ought to thank God every day for everything we have, for life itself and all that He has done for us!

So with Thanksgiving coming this week here in the US, I thought I'd use this bountiful fruit bowl and Thanksgiving verse from Our Daily Bread designs. The image is from Fruit of the Spirit. The verse is from Give Thanks. I used this week's Midnight Madness Sketch
#
80 and the colors were inspired by this week's Shabby Tearoom Challenge photo. Aren't these colors yummy? I used the new BasicGrey Curio dp, Bazzil for my base and colored the image with Copics. I spritzed it all with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Honey Dew Mist. Love the sparkle... wish you could see it! The flowers are Primas and were a gift from a dear friend! The lace is vintage seam binding from a thrift store. I fell in love with the vintage wrapping around it, but it worked perfectly for this color challenge.

Our Sponsor this week is Seredipity Stamps ! We want to thank them for their generous donation and support of Stampin Sisters in Christ! Check out their store for a beautiful selection of stamps!

Moxie Chic

Moxie-Fab-roses

I made this for this week's Tuesday Trigger which is Moxie Chic! I drew my inspiration from the colors and replicated the ruffles with my May Arts wrinkled ribbon which I gathered up and then added the touch of pink ribbon from SU! over top. My frame is from Layers of Color, Rose Blossom Frame cling art stamp, designed for the Spellbinder's Label 16. (Layers of Color is a Spellbinders Preferred company) I matted it with black like the hat. The sentiment is from Gina K, Lovely Labels, one of Nina Bracketts wonderful sets. The embossing folder is Cuttlebug. I colored the rose blossoms with my Copics. The cs is SU! and the white is Gina K.

I am submitting this to the following challenges:
Freshly Brewed - show off your style
Crafty Cardmakers (3 entries) - dry embossing
Critter Sketch - texture

Thanks for looking and have a blessed week!

A Sister's Album begun

Sisters-cover

Hello friends! Today I am showing you a project I have been working on. It's a 5.5" x 11" chipboard album that I am making of my sisters. Since I have very few photos of us as kids, I wanted to try to make something that would tell our story a little bit for generations to come. I am working with very old black and white photos that are poor quality, making copies of them and trying to edit them to be a little better. In some cases that's working and in some it is not. Most of the time involved with this has been trying to get decent photos to put in the album.

Anyhoo... above is the cover for the album. I used designer papers from Prima "The Sasha Paper Collection". I stamped the flourish from Layers of Color Nature Walk clear art stamp set with White Craft and heat embossed directly on the dp, and added some Prima flowers and chip board letters from K&Co. I sewed around the edges and added some pearls and ribbon from my stash. The butterfly is from Layers of Color Flutterescent art stamp set and is stamped with Stazon on vellum and colored on the back. I have sponged on the flowers a bit to give them some age, since the pictures in this album will be old.

Sisters-page1fnl

This first page is using the same Prima pack for the designer paper, but I used Layers of Color Brick Wall and Garden Wall Frame cling art stamps. Again, this frame is designed for the Spellbinders Label 14. I colored lightly with Pebbles Chalks which are pearlescent. I added some flourishes from QuicKutz and punched edges made with 2 Martha Stewart edge punches and one EK Success punch. The butterfly is from Layers of Color Flutterescent art stamp set and has Stickles added, as do the flowers. My journaling card is Crafty Secrets and I surrounded that with flowers from LOC Merci Bouquet art stamp set and the little Chickadee from the LOC Backyard Birds art stamp set.

Here is some detail on the Brick Wall Frame and the brick wall. I love both of these and love them together! The brick wall can be stamped continuously for a solid wall too if you want that look.

Sisterspg2detailfnl

On this third page I used Layers of Color Victorian Frame cling art stamp which is designed to fit the Spellbinder's Label 14. I love this frame! I colored with Copics and then embossed with UTEE to give it a shine, cut out the inside and framed my picture. I wanted to add lots of pink to this one so I stamped the Layers of Color Cottage Rose cling art stamp and colored with Copics, and cut out. I paired that with Layers of Color Vintage Rose and Nature Walk clear art stamp sets, as well as a butterfly from Flutterescent art stamp set. My embellishments are only a sheer pink ribbon, heart charm that says "love" and a vintage brad as a center for my flower. I have done quite a bit of sponging to this page and it is matted with a pink piece of cs.

Sisters-page-2NR2

I have a long ways to go on this album but I wanted to show you what I have been working on so far. These first pictures are of my oldest sister, who passed away at the age of 44. Although she was 10 years older than me, we were still close. I will always miss her but this little memory book will be a great way to pass on some of my memories to my grandchildren who never knew her.

We are excited that Layers of Color is a preferred Spellbinder's Company!

CAS and More is More Challenge

Peace-on-Earth-less

Hello everyone! Welcome to another Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge! I am the hostess today so my full devotional is on the challenge blog. I hope you'll read it there!
The Scripture for today's challenge is from John 3:30.

"He must increase, but I must decrease".

The challenge this week is one with choices:
1. Make a Clean and Simple card, representing "you" DECREASING.
2. Make a More is More card, representing "Him" INCREASING in your life
3. Show a Simple version of a card and then show us the More is More version.

As you can see, I did the third option. I started with this great dp from K&Co (Glad Tidings) and made a single layer card, adding only a tag from this month's Our Daily Bread designs release, Holly Tag set and the matching Tag Die. I colored the tag image with Prisma Pencils and blended with odor free mineral spirits and blending stumps. I tied a bit of SU! Grossgrain ribbon onto the tag and called it done. I think it is about the first single layer card I have made! LOL!

Peace-on-Earth-More-side

For my more is more version, I started with the same DP and stamp and die, colored just the same, attached the same ribbon, but I cut the dp to be larger and matted with Recollections brushed gold and put them on a base of Cranberry Crisp (SU! retired). I rounded the corners, hand ruffled some May Arts wrinkled ribbon in gold, and added some Prima Poinsettias and pearls. I also matted the tag on Cranberry Crisp.

Peace-on-Earth-set

My question for you is.... which one do you like better? I really am interested in knowing so if you'd leave a comment telling me which one you prefer I'd so appreciate it!

If we were to apply the Scripture and the devotional thoughts I focused on... ideally we'd have both present in our life. We would willingly offer up some of our so called "rights" and desires, in order to please Him with our lives... doing whatever it is that He has called us to do. We'd be more CAS while He would be MORE, much more in our hearts! I hope you enjoyed today's devotional and enjoy this week's challenge! It's a little "different" but I hope it invokes some thought while providing some fun!

Our Sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp! We want to thank them for their continued support of Stampin Sisters in Christ! Check out their store for the best selection of stamps!

Layers of Color Fruit of the Spirit Hop Winner!

Fruitful-Harvest-2

Hello friends! Welcome to day two of our Fruit of The Spirit themed celebration!
Layers of Color is celebrating sponsoring 2Sketches4You this week!

Yesterday the LOC Design Team featured cards using their sketch and the Layers of Color Prize! Be sure to join the challenge at 2Sketches4You to be eligible to WIN THIS PRIZE: Fruitful Harvest art stamp set, Belle Brocade art stencil and Botanical Swirls art stencil!

For my card today, I used the Botanical Swirls art stencil and another image from the Fruitful Harvest art stamp set.

I stenciled the botanical swirls with Distress Ink and then with a gold gel pen I hand wrote the various fruits of the spirit, along with some doodled dots following the lines of the stencil. The image is stamped in Memento and colored with Copics, then cut with a Spellbinder's Classic Circle and matted with a Recollections Gold mat, cut with a Spellbinder's Lacey Circle die. The main designer paper is Webster's Pages WonderFall pack. The scrolly die cut is Spellbinder's Fanciful Holidays.

Galatians 5:22-23
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

Yesterday I focused on Joy. Today I'm looking at Faithlness. First, what is faith? Hebrews tells us it's the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hmmm, what does that mean? Isn't it the same thing as belief? Well.... we believe that a chair will hold us up, but when we actually sit on it with all our weight, we have placed our full faith in it. Our faith in the Lord is much the same. Many believe in God. The Bible tells us the demons believe and they tremble! So just believing "in" God is not saving faith. It is when we personalize our belief, placing our full trust in the work of Christ on the cross as the only acceptable offering to a Holy God by which we could ever enter His presence, that we are expressing full faith. We can then trust our entire lives, our security, everything.... to Him. He alone is worthy of our full faith, trust and adoration. So where does faithfulness come in? When the source of our faith is faithful and true, then it produces faithfulness in our own hearts... we remain committed to Him and to the purpose He has for us. We show our faith through our faithfulness! It's one more attribute of the Spirit in a believer's life.

Eph 3:16-17
"I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith".

NOW... ON TO MY WINNER!

Last night I randomly drew one name to receive the prize I chose to give away today:
Touch of Elegance art stamp set!

fruits-of-the-spirit-lg

The Theme for our Hop is "Fruit of the Spirit".

I stamped the image with Memento Ink and colored with Copics, then added 3D Crystal Lacquer (Sakura) to add dimension and shine. The papers are Websters Pages (WonderFall) and Pink Paisley 365*. I pleated some thin ribbon and added that. I also used 2 Martha Stewart edge punches on Gina K Pure Luxury Ivory card stock in an effort to pick up the detail in the small white pattern at the bottom of the Websters Page. My red panel is stenciled with the Layers of Color Belle Brocade art stencil using Color Box Alabaster Chalk Ink on Pink Paisley dp. The little doily was a thrift store find.

Here is a little detail of the fruit
Fruitful Harvest Detail

Galatians 5:22-23
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

The term "fruit of the spirit" basically sums up the attributes of a true christian!
How can you possibly pick one favorite "fruit" to focus on, when all are important? I picked JOY for this project... did you see it over on the left side of the Websters Page? Neh. 8:10 says "The JOY of the Lord is your strength". If we know the Lord as our personal Savior, and we're walking with Him, our hearts are filled with JOY! There is a big difference between joy and happiness! Happiness can be influenced by circumstances around us. JOY is NOT dependent on our circumstances! It rises up and overflows even in the midst of sorrows. It is rooted in knowing our Savior loves us, died for us, rose again for us, and is even now preparing a place for us if we know Him personally! It comes from knowing our future is secure and God's promises are true, and we can trust Him for He has plans for us, and they are plans for our good! Now when we stray, ... our joy can be effected, as we are out of fellowship with the source of our JOY. After David's sin and subsequent agony, he cried out to the Lord "Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me."(PS 51:12) We all long for JOY... and I have good news! It's one of MANY gifts given to you when you accept Christ as your personal Savior! I hope YOU know that kind of JOY today!

Be sure to visit each designer’s blog as there are GIVEAWAYS on each blog!!
Simply leave a comment on my blog today and I will announce the random winner tomorrow!
I have chosen Touch of Elegance art stamp set for my drawing!

From our Family to yours

From-our-Family-to-yours

Happy Sunday everyone! With Sunday comes another Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge! Today our hostess is my dear friend and Our Daily Bread designs DT Sister, Randy Barrett. The Scripture Randy has chosen for this week is: Is 55:10-11

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

Randy is challenging us to make a card or project that depicts weather such as: rain, snow, ice, sunshine, wind. Anything that demonstrates weather.

I used the Moxie Fab Tues. Trigger for my color scheme (from O Magazine) and chose the theme of snow for my weather. I used this month's Our Daily Bread designs new release Snowflake Background and the sentiment from Mistletoe Tag set as well as the Tag Die Cut. Talk about a quick easy way to make your Christmas cards! Stamp a card, add some ribbon and texture, a little bling and you are done! These could easily be mass produced! The ribbon is from AC Moore. The bling is Recollections. Card Stock and Ink are SU! After I assembled the card I spritzed it with Shimmerz Angels Wings for some shimmer. I hope you can see it a little bit.

Our Sponsor this week is Heartfelt Creations~ If you have not explored this company, you should! Awesome stamps folks!!! I have some on my Christmas list!!!

Damask-PC-Orn

I made these for the Diggin on Damask Challenge on Moxie Fab World. I love damask everything, but decided to make my own instead of using designer paper. That way I could taylor the pattern more for the shape of my ornament. I used Layers of Color Touch of Elegance art stamp set to make all the damask patterns using Adirondak Cranberry Ink. I used Our Daily Bread designs sentiment from this month's release, Holly Tag set for the 1st & 3rd card.

Card Details:
Stamps- Layers of Color Touch of Elegance art stamp set, Our Daily Bread designs Holly Tag set
Card Stock - Gina K Cranberry Tart, Pure Luxury White, Paper Studio Brushed Gold
Ink - Adirondak Cranberry Pigment Ink, VersaMark for the embossed one (#2)
