Now, here is my card.

FS-Scripture--teacup

I used the Springtime Card Toppers Collection from Flower Soft for my image panel, and stamped my Scripture using Our Daily Bread Designs Customer Favorites Scripture Series 2.  The verse I used was submitted by Jan Castle and I just love it!  I know I will use it often!

My card base is Coredinations (T Holtz new 12 x 12 pad).  The designer paper is Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Collection.  The doily is Cheery Lynn Dutch Scallop Square Frame.  I used the following colors of Flower Soft to give dimension to this card:  Delphinium Blue, Lilac and Lemon.  What a quick way to give a card some real wow factor!  I sewed my lace (a gift from a sweet friend) to my dp, adhered my image panel to the doily, then added that to the card with foam dimensionals.  I added a few cut outs from a large lace motif I had found in a thrift store and finished with a soft pink sheer bow and pink pearls.  I finished off the inside with an MS edge punch of the dp layered onto white cs.  I hope you enjoyed my creation!

Now hop on over to Dina Kowal's amazing Blog!

A Good Friend is like a warm quilt gift set

Friends-Quit-setU2

Hello my blogging friends!  Today I want to share a gift set I made with this month's Our Daily Bread designs release, Flower Border, Sewn with Love and also a previous release from the Garden Series,  Dahlia

I put my sentiment on the inside of this card, stamping the Sewn with Love sentiment with Memento Ink, and softly stamping off the Dahlia image before stamping all around the background for the sentiment.  I matted this with dp from the K & Co Julianne pack I used for the rest of the set.

Friends-and-quilts-inside

For the card front, I used the Flower Border which is made to fit the Spellbinders Labels Eighteen to frame my little mini quilt.  This tiny quilt and the one in the top of the box were made with 1 1/4" squares of silk fabric from a decorators book to which I adhered shipping labels to the back side, so they had some ridigity and would not unravel while I worked.  Perhaps some of you remember the "folded star" quilts many of us made in the 80s.... a great way to make a quilted project without actually stitching patches together.  Well, I used the same principle to make this, folding each square in half diagonally and adhering to a square of shipping label, sticky side up and folded side toward the middle.  I began with the center square and just added layers moving out and keeping it square as I could.  When I had completed it, I used fabric glue to secure the edges and cut my backing to size.  I was then able to add a paper frame which I wrapped around the quilt, and added adhesive to the back of the paper shipping label I built this on, and adhere that to my card.  I wanted to show this gorgeous floral frame in a different way, because it's so beautiful in it's own right that it really can be a show stopper even without a focal stamp inside of it.  I colored it with Copics, highlighted with Spicas and sponged with Distress Ink (Brushed Corduroy).  I also lightly stamped the same Dahlia image as a background print.

Friends-Quilt-card-U3

The card itself is made with 5/8" squares punched from various dps from the K&Co pack and carefully placed around the outside border of my blue mat after sponging each square.  I added the SB Label 18 with the quilted element, then pierced a pattern around it.  The card is finished off with May Arts Ribbon and Prima Flowers, along with some MS Punched boughs.

The box is a chipboard box that I covered with the dp and simply made another little quilt element for the inside.  I decorated it to match.

I hope you enjoyed this project as much as I did making it!

The Lord Sustains Me - Customer Favorites release!

Fancy-tag-collage

Hello my blogging friends!  I am FINALLY home!  It seems like I've been gone forever and even though I had created lots of cards to post in my absence, I really missed getting around to see all your creations and I look forward to getting caught up!

Today I am excited to be sharing a Scripture verse from the Our Daily Bread designs Second Customer Favorites set, Scripture Series 2, as well as a matching frame set, Scrolly Borders!  There are some wonderful verses in this set!!!  I chose SU! Blushing Bride for my base and BasicGrey Curio for my designer paper.  The paper is a  pretty collage of gorgeous elements that I didn't want to cover, so I did very little layering with this card.  I stamped the sentiment and frame on Gina K cs and colored the frame with Copic R11 and G82.  I cut two Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two from Papertrey Chocolate cs, cut and adhered to the back to frame the image still more.  I used my finger to rub  some metallic gilding  onto the frame to age it and give it more depth.  Unfortunately it doesn't show well in the photo.  I used some real old seam binding and sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist, wrinkled and dried before making my bow.  I added a single Wild Orchid rose and some Recollections pearls.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Craft Us Crazy - Anything goes in August, Paper Crafting Journey - 2 Anything Goes, Shelly's Images -Show Us what you got (anything goes,) Stamp Insanity -Anything goes, Stampin' B's - JFF - Distressing (distress inks around edges and gilding on frame),Kelley Kid's -  pink and brown, Paper and Such Design Sentiment Only, Try It On Tuesday - Anything Goes, Paper Take Weekly - Bingo* (center down)

Thanks for having a look!  Have a blessed week!

Special Customer Favorites ODBD Release!

From-the-fullness-of-His-Me

Hello friends!  I'm excited to share a card I made with the brand new Our Daily Bread designs release, the customer favorites Scripture Series 2!  As part of our third year anniversary celebration, customers submitted their favorite Scriptures that they would like to use on a card, and after much thought the winners were chosen and made into this special edition set.  I loved this Scripture that I used today... and thought I'd try a different shaped card for it.  My card base is the Spellbinders Label Twenty One, cut from Papertrey White.  I stamped the Scripture, then August's  release, Flower Border and cut with my Spellbinders Label Eighteen, which the floral frame was custom made for.  I love using my Grand Calibur for cutting multiple items in one pass!  Since these labels were different, they could be cut at the same time!  I colored my floral frame with Copics.  Then I masked and stamped the same frame onto my card base, replicating the design.  I did hand dot the outer circles on the sides to match as close as I could.  I added some May Arts Wrinkled Gold Ribbon, a ZVA Creative Red Rose, and two rose buds on the other side.  I highlighted the vines with gold Spica Pen.  A pretty little shape for an A2 envelope, and fun as well!

To see the full release, as well as samples made by the winners of the contest whose verses were chosen, and to hear their stories of why they chose the verse they did, please visit the Our Daily Bread designs Blog!  Also, the Design Team has created samples for your inspiration with these Scriptures.  Here is the list of participants.  There are hidden prizes along the way, so be sure to leave a comment on each one for a chance to win!

LOC Royal Bouquet for you!

Royal-Bouquet-of-Posies

Hello friends!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

I have a card I made before I left for vacation using last month's new release from Layers of Color, May Bouquet cling stamp, and Royal Birds Clear Stamp Set.  I just love the newest release... well, I love them all, but I really had fun playing with these!

I stamped my image with Memento Ink on Cryogen White and colored with Prisma Pencils, blending with Odor Free Mineral Spirits.  What I love about the Cryogen is that it has a shimmer to it so the paper itself gives that shimmer to your projects!  I normally use it with Copics, but today I just tried it with Prismas.... it's been a while since I gave them some love!  Anyhoo.... I cut it out and monted it on this Cheery Lynn Canadian Kaliedoscope Doily, and accented with the Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish.  LOVE these dies!!!  I then stamped the two birds from the Royal Birds set, and colored them with Copics, and I used Spica glitter pens on all the images.  I mounted the images onto a piece of designer paper from BasicGrey's Sparkling Spring pad, which is on a base of SU! Blush Blossom.  (So glad I got a pack before it was discontinued!!!)  The ribbon is May Arts Silk.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Crazy Amigo Challenge - Anything goes, Die Cuttin' Divas - must include a Die-cut - #27 Garden Challenge, Make it Monday - always Anything Goes, Make My Monday -  Birds or Bugs, Card Cupids - 2W - Buttons and/or Ribbon, Gingerloft make it sparkle (flowers are done with Spica glitter pens), Opus Gluei - No sentiment allowed, Catch The Bug - 3E, SIO -  August Anything goes Challenge, Little Claire's  -  #11 Things With Wings - Till 12th August, Make it colorful must include colouring -  #29 Colour with Pink, Paper Creator's Crafts - All about Flowers, Clearly Inspired -  things with wings, Fabulous Friday - color in an image, Mami Doodles -  flowers, Raise The Bar - anything goes, Craft Us Crazy -  Anything goes in August

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I did creating it!  Thanks for all the encouragement you always give!  It means so much!!!

A blessing from the Word today:

A Day Hemmed in Prayer

A-day-hemmed-in-prayer

Hello friends!  I hope you are all enjoying this last full month of summer!  We are enjoying our time off as we are celebrating our 40th anniversary!  I worked ahead on my cards so I could continue at least some posts, but technically I am on a little break from card making right now.  It's hard to believe that I have been married to my wonderful hubby for 40 years!  Time really does fly when you're having fun!

Today I wanted to play in this week's Shining the Light Challenge, which is to think Seamstress, notions.... whatever as long as it follows the seamstress theme.  I made this card using this month's release from Our Daily Bread designs, "Weave in Faith", which is one of the "Full of Grace" series.  I just love this sentiment!  I think of it in terms of the trials we face every day.... as spouses, as parents, as employees, as care givers to elderly parents.... whatever trials we face in our day to day activities... prayer is sooo important!  So often we wait until our day does start to "unravel".... and THEN we pray!  We need the reminder that the day should be "hemmed" in prayer as our first priority... and then it's much less likely to "unravel".  I decided to stamp on an open weave linen from Hobby Lobby with Stazon  and frayed three sides, then I hemmed one side to create a visual of what the sentiment says.  I added three little buttons from my stash and matted with dp from g.c.d. Studios, Ella Blue.  The base is MS, sponged with distress inks.  The ribbon is May Arts silk and the flowers are ZVA Creative and Prima.  The lace is from Websters Pages.

I am also entering this in the following challenges:
Inspire Me Fridays - always anything goes, Mami Doodles - flowers, Phindy’s Place - anything goes, Craft Us Crazy -  Anything goes in August, Sassy Studio Designs - SIO - Lets get sentimental - Use a sentiment on the front, Southern Girls -  photo inspiration*, Crafts and Me - #46 anything goes, Creative Belli -  #123 non-paper materials, Paper Shelter Challenge -  #25 flowers, Truly Scrumptious -  #62 buttons and bows, Top Tip Tuesday -  Blue, green (leaves) &  brown, Elephantastic- layers, Mark's Finest Papers- Anything but a standard A2 card, One Stop Crafts- Sentiment as focal point,

I hope you have enjoyed this card and that you will get your sewing out each morning, to hem each day in prayer!

hugs,

Diorama card - Sew Special

Diorama-porch-scene

Hello friends!  I have something a little "different" to share today.  It's a Diorama Card.  I used the instructions in the resource section of SCS but adjusted my measurements and window sizes to fit my needs.  I used this month's release from Our Daily Bread designs, "Sew Special".  I also used the matching Die Cut and the ODBD Fence Die cut.  Boy do these dies cut well!  The little pieces of the fence just fell out... no picking them out!  I think I'm getting rid of my fence punch!  Anyhow... here's what I did:

I started with a base of Bazzill and cut three pieces according to my pattern.  I embossed the parts that I wanted to look like siding with the Cuttlbug Distress Stripes folder.  I used PinkPaisley 365* DP to create my "wall paper".  I stamped the rocking chair with Memento and colored with Copics.  I cut out the rocking chair with the custom die! So fast and easy!   created the patio door using a Cheery Lynn Lattice die.  The die itself is on the diagonal but I cut just a rectangle of squares out and sandwiched between two pieces of white card stock for rigidity, after adding a brad for a door knob.  I then adhered some white trim around the door and adhered the door.  I decided I wanted it to be open so you could see inside better and feel the welcome on an open door.

diorama-porch-top-detail

To decorate the front of my porch, I used an older Cuttlebug Lattice die and a Marianne corner greenery die. I used my new ODBD Fence Die to cut the fence, and  I added Prima and ZVA Creative silk flowers, and some Flower Soft in Spring Mix and Shamrock Green.  I created the little flower pot myself, drawing out the pot, cutting two, gluing together on the edges, sponging with distress ink and then added my flowers and adhered to the card.  I decided I'd use part of one of the verses in the Sew Special set and make a little lawn sign with it.

Diorama-porch-side-detail

I love creating things that are a bit different!  This was a lot of fun!  Almost like playing with a doll house!  I hope you enjoyed it!

My sister has gone home and now I am packing for my trip!  Busy, busy, busy!  However, I have worked ahead and do have several things I'll be showing you during the coming days.  I hope you are enjoying your summer and that it's not as fiercely hot where you are!!!

I am entering this in the following challenges:
4 Crafty Chicks - Colour*, AiFactory -  Anything Goes,  Sassy Studio Designs - Lets get sentimental - Use a sentiment on the front, Paper Crafting Journey - photo inspiration*, Crafts and Me - #46 anything goes, Creative Belli -  #123 non-paper materials metal brad, silk flowers), Paper Shelter Challenge - #25 flowers, Anything Goes Challenge -  Flowers, Crazy Amigo Challenge - Anything goes, Paper Take Weekly - Anything goes with optional metal, Alota Rubber Stamps -  Tic Tac Toe* (I chose middle down: brad, stamp, flowers), Craft Your Passion - Anything goes, Kaboodle Doodles - in the Garden, Nettie G's Digital Gems - Fancy Folds

Hugs and blessings,

Lois' Card for ODBD Shining the Light Challenge

Hello everyone~
I just had to share this card with you today, because as you know my sister has been here and we had such a great visit!  We did LOTS of things, but one of the most fun was when we went to my craft room and she really wanted to make a card!  So.... I gave her my new Our Daily Bread designs stamps, paper, ink.... and she went to town!  This is her first ever card!!! Isn't it great???  She used Sewn with Love (from the Blessings Series) and the new Flower Border, made for the Spellbinder's Labels Eighteen!  She also used Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Motifs and an older flourish, as well as Cheery Lynn Mini Butterflies.  She doesn't have a blog.... so I'm posting this for her so she can enter it in ODBDSLC70 sketch challenge, since that's why she made it!

Thanks so much for stopping and for any encouraging comments you might have for my sis!

I have to just tell you that this month's release is huge, and it's my all time favorite!  As a quilter and sewer, I connect with these in so many ways!  The sentiments are fantastic and cover friends AND family!  I know you are here for the hop so I'll stop rambling and get right to my project details:

I made a shadow box wall hanging, using Sew Special (stamped twice and popped up), and the Pincushion Tag Set for my sentiment.  I used Memento Ink and colored with Copics and Prisma Pencils.

Families-Stitched-Shadowbox

The base paper is Papertrey, and I matted with SU! Old Olive.  Everything is sponged with T Holtz Antique Linen.  The background for my image is a chenille scrap from a discontinued interior decorator's book that I thought looked like quilted squares.  It adds lots of texture to the wall hanging.  You look at everything differently when you paper craft... because so many different things can be used in your art!  I got mine from my dear friend at Terryfic Times (my lss), but if you visit furniture stores and ask, they often have discontinued fabric as well as wall paper, both of which work wonderfully with paper crafts!

Families-Stitched-Shadow-bx

I pierced my borders with an Ornare Piercing template and piercer.  I tried to replicate some of the quilt patterns I have used in the past when quilting for the border.  The little additions to the box include many little family treasures like the tatted lace, an old English thimble, and an old pack of needles.  In my sewing basket I found the label from an old tatting spool, and I layered it with several layers of card stock, punched holes, heat embossed several times with UTEE and made a faux button with it.

Families-Stitched-Shadow-bo

I hope you have enjoyed my shadow box.... but there's so many wonderful ideas to see, so I will sent you on your way.....

From here... you will hop to the talented and sweet BECCA to be amazed!

Thanks for stopping!
