Trying the Bleaching Technique on kraft~

Hello my friends! Did you think I fell off the face of the earth?  LOL!  I've been busy the past couple weeks with a lot of things going on in my "real" life, and I have not had much time to be creative!  I hope you'll forgive me!

I wanted to share a card I made  to honor my dear design team sister, Angie Crockett when she was Queen for the Day over on SCS. I have been wanting to try the bleach technique, and Angie does it so well, that I was inspired by her to give it a try.  I used this month's release from Our Daily Bread designs, Cardinal Ornament I stamped it on Kraft card stock and then painted with a paint brush. The bleached area yellowed a bit more than I had expected. I did not have the bleach gel Angie used so I used straight bleach, and I'm thinking it might have been a bit different due to that. Anyway... I then colored the image with Prisma Pencils, letting the more heavily bleached areas stay lighter for my highlights. After coloring, I added white with my Signa Gel Pen and then some glitter to the pine needles and cones.... but you can't see that in the photo.

I cut the image with Spellbinders Classic Circles Lg and matted with Lacey Circles. The dp is K&Co. I stamped the sentiment from the same set with VersaFine for the darkest imprint on the dp.  I also tried piercing around the edge but nowhere as perfectly as Angie does it!!!

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Stay tuned because the bread sticks are busily preparing for the Dec. release on Saturday... and you won't want to miss this release!!!  I hope to see you then!

Blessings,

Beautiful card, Grace! You had me at 'Cardinal's'! Love the background, the bleaching looks perfect to me, and that piercing must have taken you ages! Thanks for sharing...hugs!

I think this is an outstandingly beautiful card! Cardinals are my most favorite bird. We saw lots of them in Indiana. Sadly I haven't seen one since moving to Florida.
So thanks for the memory, so well done!

Grace,I would say you mastered the bleaching technique!! I have not tried this in so long, may have to, but not sure my brain could withstand any lost cells due to inhaling bleach. LOL! I love your card!

Another beauty, Grace! I think I like this better than bleaching on black!

Where did you find your cute blog header? I tried to change mine for Thanksgiving, and it was totally messed up - a blank white square on it, the main image all the way to the right side, etc...

I hope you and Alan are doing well! Hugs! Clare

Gorgeous!! This looks incredible! I especially love cardinals. This technique looks great on flowers and such, I'm sure. Is it really as easy as it seems? You did a great "Angie-esque" card! Lol I miss you, Grace.
