A little sneakie peekie

Hello my friends!  I hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend, and if you are in the NE USA, my prayers are with you as this monster storm approaches!

With this sudden and extreme cold front/ hurricane force winds on the east coast, forecast of snow even here... I have to admit that it has put me in a bit of a holiday spirit!  Add to that the Nov 1 release from Our Daily Bread designs, and I think you can see why!  Today I'm giving you a sneak peek at one of the soon to be released  sets... Turtle Dove Ornament, as well as a sentiment from another set, Cardinal Ornament.

I am on a mission to create clean and quick cards for Christmas so that I actually have a hope of getting them done!  With that in mind... if you like CAS, I have several coming your way that might fit the bill!  For this card I simply used white card stock and some embossing powder from Sweet Stamps.  The embossing powder is  a bit older and does not have a color name on it, but it is what I would call "platinum".  It's a cross between gold and silver... sort of a flatter gold or "tan" gold, which I love with this flatter Prism Metallic Gold paper that I used to mat.  I also used a Holly Embossing Folder from Cuttlebug.  The ribbon is May Arts silk and the pearls are from AC Moore.  I used an inside oval from  Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two for the sentiment. I cut the ornament with a Spellbinders Classic Circle Large, which fits it perfectly!  WooHoo!!!  Sooo easy, so quick, yet elegant and festive I think.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Now...here is my card...

WE THREE KINGSI used We Three Kings.  I stamped with SU! Not Quite Navy ink on SU! cardstock, and matted with River Rock and Not Quite Navy for the base.  I  colored the images with Prisma Pencils (camels and kings) and  then lightly used my pastel chalks to create the background.  I added some gems from a bling snowflake that I cut apart for the star.  I think this is the most CAS card I've done in a long time! LOL!  It's totally flat and mailable!  At Christmas, that's what I'm looking for! LOL!

A glass block gift idea!

Hello my friends!  It's a beautiful October   Monday morning here... and I've been basking in all the beauty in God's creation!  I hope your week is off to a wonderful start!

Today I'm sharing a quick gift idea for the soon to be upon us Christmas season.  This is created with one of those glass blocks available in Hobby Lobby or most other craft stores, and a white wired small set of mini white lights.  I used this month's release from Our Daily Bread designs, O Christmas Tree.  I stamped, masked and heat embossed three of the tree images on a piece of acetate cut for the inside dimensions of the glass block.  I used Ranger Silver Embossing Tinsel for the sparkly effect.  After embossing, I rolled the acetate up to fit inside of the opening of the block, and positioned it against the front of the block.  I then inserted the lights, trying to evenly place the lights around the entire block.  To give the dreamy background, I cut some fine tulle and placed it around the lights to cover the wires and give the misty white background for my scene.  All I did for the outside of this particular block was to make a big bow with wired ribbon from Michael's last year, and adhere it to the top of the block.  I have made other blocks where I decorated the sides with ribbon and die cuts, but this one I kept simple.  The sky's the limit with these... so I hope you'll have some fun with it!  It would make a great gift for someone, but also a nice decoration for your own home.

This week's Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge this week is brought to us by PeggySue and is based on this verse: "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33  You really should read her devotional this week if you want to be blessed. The challenge is to make something that represents peace to you (not the symbol but a color combo, images, sentiment, etc)  This wintery  scene with the simple silver and white color combo makes me feel peaceful.  I always love when it snows and I'm warm and toasty in the house, feeling safe from the storm outside.  Today's devotional talks about the storms of life.... and how we handle them.  I hope you'll take time to read it!

A Christmas Decorative Cone and tutorial link

Hello friends!  Today I have a fun Christmas decor item I created for my "Time With" post over on the Our Daily Bread designs blog.  This was super fun and easy, and best of all... it's NOT made of flimsy card stock, but rather a heavy chip board cone that can be used season after season.

Peaceful Season

Hello friends!  I hope you are all doing well!

I have a Christmas card to share with you today, made with this month's new release at Our Daily Bread designs, O Christmas Tree This card started off as just an experiment.  I wanted to do some embossing with this image so I grabbed a scrap of SU! NotQuite Navy from my scrap box and stamped with White Embossing Powder.  Well... then I liked the white on blue so much I decided to cut it out with a Spellbinders Floral Oval frame and use it somehow.  The card kind of developed from there as I had Spellbinder's Labels 8 out on my work table and decided to go ahead and do a shaped card using Labels 8 and Decorative Labels 8.  For the sentiment I just heat embossed the Peace sentiment from the set on a Spellbinders Fancy Tags 1 "inside" and cut the outside from Flourishes White, which is what the rest of the card is cut from.  I added Glossy Accents to the ornaments and some gems to the sentiment panel, and a sheer silver edged bow to the top and that's it.  It's quite flat, mailable and quick!  At Christmas, we all are searching for quick yet still something special to give to friends and family.  I think this one qualifies.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Cards by Lady Anne / Monday Anything Goes Challenge - Always Anything Goes, Crafty Bloggers Network -  Anything Goes, House of Gilli - Anything Goes, Make it Monday - always Anything Goes,  My Craft SpotEmbossing,

Give Thanks

Hello friends!  I hope you are enjoying this wonderful fall season!  Today I have a fall card to share with you.  I created this card with this month's Our Daily Bread designs release, Pumpkin Wreath and Apple Wreath.  I started with a Bazzill base, added the wood grain Recollections designer paper, and stamped my image on Flourishes White card stock with Memento ink.  I colored it with Copics and fussy cut it out, then mounted it on a scrap of burlap that I adhered to a white layer cut with the Spellbinders Lattice Frame.  The little sentiment tag is cut with Spellbinders Back to Basics Tag set, and the sentiment is from the Apple Wreath set.  Some twine and a Prima burlap flower finished off the country feel of this card.  I hope you enjoyed it!

We are enjoying some special R&R time so I'm not doing a lot of blogging right now... but will be back soon!

Blessings,

Happy Big 50 Birthday Kelley and more!

Hello my friends!!!  I am so excited today to be posting a special Birthday Wish to Our Daily Bread designs owner and my friend... Kelley Holland!  This is a very special birthday for Kelley, as it's the BIG 50!!!  Some of us on the Design Teams have gotten together a Birthday Blog Hop for Kelley.  We're so happy to have you join us on this hop... and we hope you will visit each post and leave a comment, because some of the DT members have  BLOG CANDY hidden along the way!  You will have to leave a comment on each blog and the team members who have the candy will be drawing names from those who commented on their post, announcing it on the 10th of October!  There will also be a post on the ODBD Blog on Oct. 10th giving the names of the winners and the blogs that held the candy! So if you didn't start at the Our Daily Bread designs Blog, you might want to, so you don't miss any chances to win!  Each of us will be sending our cards to Kelley... so they may be showing up on her display boards if you happen to be going to any of the stamp shows that ODBD participates in!

If you got here from Angie's Awesome Blog,  you are in the right place!

For my card today, I used the Be Joyful Set to create my floral backgrounds, and the birthday sentiment, as well as the Mwaah! inside.  This is such a fun set to work with and since I know Kelley loves all things PINK, I went with pink flowers for this card, coloring them with Copics.  I used Spellbinders Labels 1 Grand, and Decorative Labels 1 to create this card, layering on Flourishes White card stock.  The tag is Spellbinders Floral Tags and is so fun, as it cuts part of the flower and leaves out, allowing you to pop them up a bit for dimension!  I sponged with green and added a touch of Lemon Flower Soft to the center.  The ribbon is May Arts Silk, my absolute favorite!  The bling is K&Co.   Here is the inside:

Thanks so much for stopping by!  If you are hopping along with our Birthday Hop... your next stop is Dawn!

Kelley.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you, and may God bless you with many more!!!  You are officially OVER the proverbial hill now... so put on your helmet, coz you're gonna pick up speed from here on!  LOL!  Just kidding... they say the new 50 is the old 30 so enjoy all those extra years you young thing you!!!!  Mwaaah!

I decided to kick off the upcoming gift giving season with a gift set, so I created a gift bag, embellished a candle and made up a jar of  potpourri to give to a friend for Christmas.  I used O Christmas Tree Carol for all of the pieces, wanting to show how easy it is to create special personalized gifts with just some musical scores and a few embellishments!  These projects were all super quick!  I found my inspiration for some of these things on Pinterest... so I'm passing them on to you to be inspired by.  In addition to the Christmas Carol, I also used the little gift image and sentiment from Perfect Gift, and a past release, Holly Tag and the matching Die to create my tag.

Here are the sets I used:
