Some big changes in blogland that might effect you and me!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hello my sweet friends!

Today I want to just let you know about some changes that will be happening in blog land beginning July 1.  Google is going to be removing it's Google Reader, so if you are one of the followers of my blog who follow through the reader, you will no longer be seeing my posts or anyone elses that you subscribe to that way.

If you subscribe via email... you are fine and should continue getting the email alerts that I have posted a new post.  If you follow through the Google reader as a "follow this blog" follower, I encourage you to go to www.Feedly.com or www.bloglovin.com and download their reader program. Either of these readers will let you import your current Google reader.  Say yes to allow them to import your reader content, and your entire list will be saved and delivered to your new  reader.  I personally prefer Blog Lovin and have provided a link above for you to follow me that way,  but either is a good reader!

No matter what reader you use, please make sure that your subscription to my blog is to http://feeds.feedburner.com/Th-INK-ingofyou.  I love my readers and don’t want anyone to get lost in this Google shuffle!!!

I did not combine this post with a card because I wanted everyone to  read this and take whatever steps you need to take to continue following the blogs you want to follow!

I will have something fun to share with you shortly!!!  In the meantime... please be sure to arrange for some way to follow your favorite blogs other than through the Google reader!!!!

hugs & blessings,

All gave some, some gave ALL!

Hello sweet friends! Today, just in time for the 4th of July,   I'm sharing a tri-shutter card I made using this month's ODBD release Some Gave All, Home of the Free, and a past release, Old Flag Background.  I also used the ODBD Custom Bookmark dies and Bookmarks Eagles set.

ODBD stamps, Some Gave All, Home of the Free, Old Flag Background, Bookmarks Eagles, designed by Grace Nywening

I stamped the background three times, cut and colored the panels and adhered to my navy base.  I also used a Spellbinders Butterfly Corner die to cut my main image panel, which is colored with Copics. Additionally I used a couple SU! Punches, Spellbinders Grommet Tags as well as the ODBD Custom Elegant Ovals die for some of the elements.  The stars embossing folder and distressed stripes folder are CB.  I watercolored the old flag background with T Holtz Distress markers.  Everything is sponged with T Holtz Fired Brick ink.  A tiny ribbon and brad are the only embellishments, but the bookmark with America on it is removeable as a permanent reminder of the blessings we have enjoyed here in America... and these blessings came at a great price for many!  A special thank you to all who gave some, and especially to those who gave all for our freedom!

This week's Shining the Light Challenge on the ODBD blog is Red, White and Blue or Patriotic ... and you can express it any way you'd like!   Why don't you grab some red white and blue paper and ink and play along for a chance to win a prize!!!

Heaven's Masterpiece

Hello sweet friends!  Today I wanted to share another card I created with North Coast Creations newest release.  For this card I used Find Beauty and Something Marvelous for my silhouette images on the front.  Instead of the traditional gatefold card, I decided to use a belly band to hold my sentiment and for that I used Heaven's Masterpiece.  I do want to mention that all 3 of these sets were designed by my sister DT Dawn Lusk.  They are just beautiful, and the sentiments are so very useful as well!

For the inside, I simply used the same designer paper as the front, since its so soft and can easily be stamped over  or written on depending on the need.  The dp is K&Co Wedding, and the tag is Spellbinders Fancy Framed Tags 2.

It means so much to me that you stop by and have a look and take the moment to say hello!  I am getting ready for family to come next week so I'm running like crazy right now... but it's always good to take a moment to say hello to all my sweet blogging friends!

Blessings to you all!

North Coast Creations June Release!

Welcome friends!  It's time for the June release from North Coast Creations and the  new sets being released are AWESOME!  This month we will be choosing 2 winners who will receive a $10 gift certificate to the NCC Store just for commenting on our Coasters Design Team cards!  You have until June 17, 2013 at 9:00PM EDT to make a comment on each of our designers' blog posts. Our 2 random winners will be announced on the North Coast Creations Blog on June 18.

For my first sample, I used the wonderful set, Something Marvelous .  I tried a different technique for my background.  I rubbed tempting turquoise and garden green ink on a sheet of acetate, then I spritzed it with water and put my watercolor paper on it, using my brayer to make sure it all made contact.  After taking the acetate off I spritzed it again and brayered again, just to blend the colors a bit more.  I like the texture of the watercolor paper with this technique... it's a different look but I like it!  I stamped my image twice across the lower part of the page.  I used another piece of the background paper to stamp the sentiment on, and then cut it out along with a frame using Spellbinders Opulent Ovals.  I just matted with the same shades and added some pearls and ribbon for a simple card.

For my second card, I used  Heaven's Masterpiece.  I stamped on white and cut out with Our Daily Bread designs Elegant Ovals.  I ran a black marker around the edge to create a bit of a border but still kept the image clean.  I matted with a Spellbinders Lattice Motif Die Cut.  My base is black, and the designer paper is from a Making Memories Black Tie pad.  I stamped the sentiment on a tag die from the Our Daily Bread designs Custom Recipe Card and Tags Die Set.  LOVE that set!!!  A few pearls, a May Arts ribbon, and a little Prima rose finish it off.

Here are the sets I used:

Be sure to stop by the other Coasters for more silhouette inspiration. Don't forget to leave a comment on each blog for a chance to win a PRIZE

Thanks so much for stopping by...have a wonderful day!

Precious Boy!

Hello friends!  I hope you are all doing well!  We have had  a ton or rain here and have been tying off our dock in case the lake floods as badly as it did a few weeks ago.  Thankfully, we seem to have dodged the big bullet that was forecast for last night... but the mountains above us still had a bunch so it all has to work it's way down stream.  This has been such an amazing year weather wise... everywhere!!!  I can't help but think it's the signs of the times.

Anyhoo...

Today I am sharing a card made with Our Daily Bread designs new release, Precious Boy.  I also used Serve the Lord, Gingham Background, as well as the ODBD Cutsom Recipe Card & Tags Die set, Crocheted Circle and Crocheted Border dies, and Spellbinders Classic Circles Small and Large.  I stamped the image with Memento Rich Cocoa, and colored with copics.  I stamped the lace and gingham with Sage Shadow ink.

Such a sweet little girl!

Hello friends!  I hope your week is going well!

Today I am sharing one of the first cards I made with this month's sweet release at Our Daily Bread designs.  This card is stamped with stamps from the Precious Girl set. The sweet little girl is stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copics, and then cut out.   I used the ODBD custom Recipe Card & Tags Die to cut the tag sentiment. The top die is Spellbinders A2 Bracket Borders.  The window die is ODBD Custom Cathedral Window die.  Behind the window I embossed a sheet of vellum with a diamonds ef, and then spritzed the back side with a couple soft colors of Copics.  The embossing folder for my background is Craft Well.

I used soft fibers almost like cotton balls for her to "kneel on".

The cute Precious Boy and Precious Girl sets this month remind me of some pictures  of our grandkids when they were little.  Forgive the glare on the photo as with the glass in there I can't seem to get rid of it, but thought I'd share anyway.

Where did time go?  This angelic  little boy now has his learners permit and is driving!  Our sweet little girl is now 12 and almost as tall as her grandma!  I still love looking at their baby pictures though!  Children just tug at our heartstrings, don't they?  This month's sets touch my heart that same way.  I hope you are enjoying them as well!

I am entering this in this week's Shining the Light Challenge over at ODBD .  The challenge is to use a prayer, blessing or encouraging Scripture.

ODBD Stamps, Childrens Prayer, Precious Girl Precious Boy, Gingham Background, designed by Grace Nywening

I created a wall hanging that would be perfect in any child's room, boy or girl.  I began with a wood frame from Michael's.  I lightly sanded it and then painted it with a coat of Gesso.  I sanded again with fine sandpaper, and then covered it with my designer paper.  I then had a blast decorating it with several ODBD stamps and dies!

Here are the materials used for this project:

ODBD Stamps: Children's Prayer, Precious Girl, Precious Boy, Gingham Background
ODBD Dies: Custom Recipe Card & Tags
Other Dies: Spellbinders Grommet Tags, A2 Bracket Borders, Radiant REctangles, Labels 4, Memory Box Clouds die, Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish Mini
Inks: Memento Rich Cocoa for images, VersaFine Sepia for sentiments
Other Accessories: May Arts silk ribbon, Bakers Twine, Copics, Pearls, Prima Flowers, Circle punch, wood frame from Michael's, sand paper, Gesso,

My next project is a Patriotic card using Home of the Free and Some Gave All sets.

ODBD stamps, Home of the Free, Some Gave All, designed by Grace Nywening

This card is on a craft base, and us made with BoBunny Liberty designer paper and a piece of loose burlap which I fringed on the edges.  I stamped the image with Memento ink, colored with Copics, and then I embossed the panel with a CB Stars embossing folder.  I made the sentiment like the eagle is carrying it in it's beak by adding some twine and slitting under the beak to insert it there.  Quick and easy.... and would be perfect for any cards sent to our servicemen and women, Operation Write Home, veterans thank you notes, etc.

Here's a recap of the ODBD sets used today:

Thanks so much for stopping by!

From here, you will hop to  our sweet and talented Chris!
