Stampin Sisters in Christ and a sneak peek

Hello everyone! It's time for another Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge! We so enjoyed all your submissions for last week's distressed creations! They were amazing!

Our hostess this week is the lovely... Linda Lucas! For this week's Scripture, Linda has chosen Heb. 11:6 "For without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."
What a great verse to be pondering this week as we diligently seek Him!  Do we really believe this verse?  Do we actually diligently seek Him expecting Him to keep His promises?  Do you ever feel like your prayers are just words being spoken but you're not sure if He's really listening?  I think we all have felt that way some time... but perhaps when we do, we need to examine our own hearts.  God is the same... yesterday, today and forever.  If there's a time when we don't feel like our prayers are "getting through"... it's not Him that moved!!!  Let's examine our own faith today and be sure that we DO believe that He is God, there is no other.  Then lets reaffirm our belief that   He does reward those who DILIGENTLY seek Him. Then.... let's diligently seek Him!  So often we don't seek Him until the going gets rough in our lives and then our prayers are all about us and our needs, and yes, He DOES care about our needs very much, and He does answer prayer... but I've learned so much lately about prayer!  It's all about HIM!  It's a time to not only bring our petitions, but a time to truly worship Him, glorify Him, adore Him, and LISTEN to Him!  I think the idea of diligence means much more than "much talking"!  I think it includes much listening too!  I hope you have a blessed week diligently seeking Him!

Linda's challenge is:
Use a heart on your creation.  It can be the image, a charm, the dp.... anything with a heart.

For my project, I made a gift set.  Both this card and the little box with tea lights in it are made with a sneak peek at one of the new sets being released June 1 by Our Daily Bread designs, "From You to Me".  The gorgeous Fuschias were colored with Copics, and the sentiment was stamped with Memento.   The pink is Bazzill and the purple is Kaisercraft La-Di-Da (love it!!!).  I used the Martha Stewart around the page loop punch, an Ornaire Piercing template and tool, and Recollections pearls.  The yummy pink ribbon was in a wonderful blog candy I won from Crystal B (Sugar Crystals)!  Crystal, I'm still hoarding some of that yummy ribbon you gave me... I love it so much, thanks again!!!

For the box, I used a template I had purchased at a stamp show by Darcie's Designs.  I used the same papers and cut out my Fuschica image, popped it up, then stamped just the word "blessings" from one of the sentiments of another of  the new releases at ODBD, "God Loves You", and punched out the heart in white, drew a larger one in pink for a mat and cut that out, mounting on my ribbon.  Inside is a ring of green tea light candles with one fuschia one in the middle, all wrapped in some purple tissue that comes wrapped around your purchase when you purchase from the ODBD store!  I hope you enjoyed this little project, and I hope you'll play along with us this week!

MMSC55 and a Sneak Peek

Hello everyone! I hope your week is going well! My Grandkids went home yesterday and I spent today trying to get caught up with some projects. This card is a sneak peek at two of the new Our Daily Bread designs sets to be released on June 1st! I'm so excited about these sets! You do not want to miss the Blog Hop on June 1st!

I used this week's Midnight Madness Sketch for my layout. My base is Blush Blossom and then Papertrey Vintage Cream which I embossed with the Cuttlebug and lightly sponged the embossed areas with Blush Blossom. My lacing elements are triangles cut out to expose the base, then laced with gold cord from my stash.

My image is from the soon to be released Our Daily Bread designs set "From Me To You". I LOVE Fuschia and have been having so much fun coloring this image.... but for this card I simply embossed it in gold and then painted it with Opal Shimmerz. I wish that showed up in the photo, but it doesn't. The verse is from a "surprise" set to be released on the first as well!!!! That's all I'm going to say for now! You'll have to check back then to find out more about it! I embossed on Blush Blossom CS and then matted that on more cream. I cut out part of the image for more interest. I added wide lace and some gold lace by Webster's Pages.

I am linking this to the following challenges:
ABC Challenge - Vintage
Crafty Creations - Favorite Stamp (This is a new favorite for sure!!!)
Quixotic Challenge - Emboss It

If you haven't checked out the Blogaversary Party going on at Midnight Madness, you might have missed that there is a special award (The Priscilla Award) being given away to one person who will be voted on by YOU! I am blessed to be one of the 20 finalists selected by the DT from among the Gold Star Winners this past year, but now the voting is up to how many friends you can get to vote for you. Well.... I have lots of friends but not too many blog! LOL! If you would like to check out the contestants and place your ONE vote for your choice... please see this post. Of course I'd love to have your vote, but also be sure to sign up for the HUGE giveaway going on for this one more week!

I pledge allegiance

Hello everyone! It's time for another Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge! We so enjoyed all your submissions for last week's "music and joyful praise" challenge, and we hope you'll play along this week as well!

Our hostess this week is the talented and sweet Peggysue! For this week's Scripture, Peggysue has chosen Isaiah 64:6 KJV "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."

We may not like to think about ourselves in these terms... but God's Word is clear, that we are all sinners, and in need of a Savior. Without the work that Christ did on that cross, none of us would be able to stand in the presence of a Holy and Righteous God. Even if we do all sorts of good deeds... they are still like filthy rags in the light of a perfect sinless Holy God. It's humbling to realize that He loved us even while we were yet sinners, and died for us.... so that we CAN stand in His presence, covered with the righteous blood of Christ. Because of Him, our FAITH is counted to us as righteousness, and He sees us as if we had never sinned! Oh the blood of Jesus! It covers me! To be covered with the blood of Jesus, there is something we have to do... we have to believe in Him, believe in His work on the cross, and we have to accept Him as our own Savior. He loves us all with a pure love. He gave His all... because He wants us to have a personal relationship with Him! If you have not done so, I hope you will accept Him as YOUR Savior, and give your life to Him! Not only will you have the promise of heaven in God's presence for eternity... you will have "life more abundantly" here and now! You will be filled with joy! Even in the midst of trials, pain and suffering... your heart will be joyful! Any of us on the team would be thrilled if you would like to make that decision... we'd love to pray with you, share with you ... feel free to contact me through my email address in my side bar!

Peggysue's challenge is:
Use distressing or sponge the edges of your project, any chosen technique to give it a vintage or distressed look.

For more inspiration for this challenge, please visit my dt sisters: Candace , Chris , Kathy, Linda, Lisa, Peggysue, and Randi

Our sponsor this week is TheUnity Stamp Company and they are donating a free stamp set!!! Thank you Unity Stamps for your generosity!

Don't forget to stop by the Stampin' Sisters in Christ blog to see all the exciting creations the week.

If you create a card or project for this challenge, please leave a direct link to your project on the Stampin Sisters Challenge thread. Also, please include a link to Stampin Sisters in Christ.

Card Details:
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs I Pledge Allegiance
Paper: Bazzill Basics, DP - Maxxie "Hero", F Myer (Wavy stripes), Very Vanilla (SU!)
Ink: Night of Navy, Various THoltz Distress Inks for sponging
The Eagle Charm was a RAK from my sweet DT sister, America

I used the Midnight Madness Sketch#54 and went half way between CAS and Fancy, using a few buttons but keeping it mailable! :) I also used the Shabby Tearoom challenge to be inspired by Old Glory and use Red, White and Blue OR Stars and Stripes.

My sentiment panel is Very Vanilla, then distressed on the edges and on the right side I rolled it up like a scroll on my piercing tool and sponged the back side as well. I added 2 large eyelits and ran twine through it for my third ribbon element in the sketch. The two wavy lines on the left are cut out of some DP. The star buttons were white and I colored them with Copics and the Airbrush.

I hope you have a blessed week and thanks so much for stopping by!!!

I hope you enjoyed this card.... the verse is among my favorites... In all your ways....

Hello everyone! Hope your week is going well!
I have another card to share with you that I made with the newest Our Daily Bread designs release, As You Graduate (image) and For the Graduate (Verse). I used designer paper from Making Memories Sydney (green) and Webster's Pages (Black and White print). I matted with basic black. This is pretty clean and simple... I stamped the Scripture from Proverbs 3:6 right onto the card and popped the heat embossed image up. I used a Martha Stewart edge punch, sheer ribbon, a cross charm that was given to me by my dear DT sister, America. I colored the butterflies with Kiwi Kiss. Hope you like it! I love this verse and it's so versatile. While it is great for graduation... it could be perfect for a new job, new home, retirement, a move, and so many other things!

Prov. 3:5 "In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths."

Thanks for taking a peek! I love knowing you were here!

Sing and Make Music!

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday!
Today I am the hostess for the Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge! The verse I chose is:

Ps, 95:1-3a "O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation, Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God..."

To read my devotional thoughts on this verse please be sure to stop by the SSCC blog!
Music...
can you imagine life without it? From the time we were little children, we all have loved music! Even unborn babies have been found to have a positive response to good music! God made us with this incredible ability to enjoy music, to be moved by it, and to make music ourselves! What a gift that is! He also made us to worship and praise Him! I love reading the Psalms of David.... because with full abandon, he loved to praise God for all His goodness, protection, wonderful works, and faithfulness. David praised God in many ways, but one of the major ways was through music...through singing, through musical instruments... and even in the dance.

My challenge this week is to create a card that depicts music or joyful praise. I can't wait to see your creations!

My card this week is a little different than my usual. I made the main panel a removeable bookmark. I stamped the flourish from Layers of Color onto white cardstock, cut it with the Spellbinders Mega Oval Die, and colored it with my Copic Air Brush. I then stamped the Verse from ODBD onto Acetate with Stazon ink and cut it with the same oval. I punched a hole in the top of both and tied the two layers together with a black ribbon. I added some musical notes to the dp from the same LOC set. The black mat is cut with a Tim Holtz Sizzix die cut (Bracket) and then embossed with the CB folder. The piano keys are stamped onto white and to achieve the curve I simply put the stamp on my block in that curved shape rather than straight. I thought it gave interest to the matting of the image and the whole musical theme. The corner treatments were also colored with the Copic Air Brush. The pretty Layers of Color Butterflies are heat embossed with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder and popped up.

Here is my card recipe:
Stamps: Sing to the Lord sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs, Joyful Noise images from Layers of Color Art Stamps and Butterfly collector from Layers of Color Art Stamps
Paper: Basic Black, Marcella by K&Co, Acetate, GP White
Accessories: Spellbinder's mega ovals, T Holtz Edge Die, CB Embossing Folder, QuicKutz Corner Die Cut, Black half crystals, ribbon, Ultra Thick Embossing Powder and heat embossing materials, Copics and Air Brush System

Midnight Madness As You Graduate

Hello everyone! Today for the Midnight Madness Sketch, I went really out of my comfort zone and created an "orangish" card!

I stamped the image from the Our Daily Bread designs May release, As You Graduate with Archival Sepia and wanted to just give the image a hint of Sepia tone, but since Archival is water proof, I couldn't water color it, so I added some SU! Markers and Ranger Inks to get close in color. I paired the image with a Bazzill brown base, and designer paper from BasicGrey in Origins, Porcelain and Sugar Rush. I paper pieced the butterflies by stamping them again on the dotted paper and cutting out and mounting above the stamped image. The flowers are Primas. For the tab parts of the sketch, I stamped the sentiment three times to be able to cut the words apart and I distressed each tab with Distress Ink, then I added the tassle.

I am linking this to the following challenges:
Crafty Calendar - Great Outdoors
Crafty Cardmakers - Distressing
Whoopsi Daisy - As You Like It
Flutterby Wed. - Butterfly
Creatalicious Challenge- Flowers & Wings
Alphabet Challenge - B is for Butterfly
Thanks so much for looking! Be blessed!

The party is on over at Midnight Madness... check it out as all week there will be prizes and fun!

For the Graduate

Hello everyone! I hope all the Mom's out there had a wonderful Mother's Day! We had a great weekend away, meeting with friends we have not seen in years, and enjoying the beauty of God's creation! Then yesterday our daughter and grandkids came for a visit and we had a great time together, ending with a yummy dinner at Olive Garden. Yum.... not getting on the scale today though!LOL!

Today I'm showing you a graduation card I made for the ODBD Shining the Light Challenge to make a graduation card. I used the newly released set "For the Graduate" for my image, and "As you Graduate" for the sentiment. To make a different layout I cut my water colored image in half and spread it out, so that I could put the sentiment over it in the middle. The sentiment is airbrushed lightly. I do need more practice on that!!! LOL! I kept my embellishments very simple because I wanted the stamps to pop, not embellishments. The base is Papertrey, the blue is from my stash and the image is on Aquarello Watercolor Paper. The corners are Spellbinders flourishes.

Thanks for stopping by and God bless your week.

Stampin Sisters in Christ Be Strong and Courageous

Hello Everyone!! Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there!!!

Today it is time for another Stampin Sister in Christ Challenge and the sweet and talented Linda Lucas is our hostess this week.

For the challenge she chose the scripture:

John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Her challenge is to create a card or project using any shades of the colours brown blue and white.
Be sure to stop by the Stampin Sisters in Christ Blog to read Linda's devotional thoughts on this Scripture! We were created to worship, and our main purpose on this earth is to enjoy God and to bring Him glory. He made us in His image and put His Spirit within us when we accepted Him as our Savior. Every facet of our being yearns to worship God. God isn't concerned with where we worship Him... it doesn't have to be in a fancy building... and He isn't concerned with our music choices, how we dress, etc. What He wants is our hearts to yearn for Him and to adore and worship Him from our spirits, because we have the truth (Christ), and Christ has set us free! I hope this is true for you today!

Our sponsor is Simon Says Stamp. The prize will be this adorable set

Card Recipe:
stamps: Scripture Collection 3 from Our Daily Bread Designs
Paper: SU! Close to Cocoa, Parisian Breeze
Accessories: Spellbinder's mega ovals and scalloped ovals, ZVA Creative pearls, Prima, Sewing Machine

Layers of Color Rise & Shine

Hello everyone! I hope your week is going well! It seems to be flying by!

I made this card for the Midnight Madness Sketch 52. I used my Layers of Color Art Stamp set, Rise and Shine. This set is so fun to play with and totally different for me! I embossed this image in copper, though I can't seem to show that in the photo. I then colored it mainly with Copics, though the sun is done with chalks. The chicken wire is stamped with Brilliance Silver. I did lots of distressing and sponging on this one. The base is Bazzill, then the red is Provocraft and embossed with the CB Distressed Folder. The cream paper is Papertrey Vintage Cream and the tan is a scrap of K&Co. I added netting and some raffia which I attached to my tag through a large eyelet.

I am also entering this in the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly - different (mesh and raffia)
Quizotic - how distressing
Stampavie - distressing

Thanks for looking! Have a blessed day!

SSCC Plans for You!

Hello Everyone!! Today it is time for another Stampin Sister in Christ Challenge and Chris is our hostess this week.

For the challenge she chose the scripture:
Psalm 139:13 For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made: I know that full well.

Her challenge is: Use the talents you have been given to create a card or project that is knit together (stitched- faux or real).

What a great challenge and verse! It is amazing to realize that God formed every part of us for a distinct purpose, and He makes no mistakes! We are fearfully and wonderfully made!!! Have you ever wondered at the miracle that healing from every day scratches and colds really is? God made our bodies with incredible healing abilities! Think about the miracle of birth... it still amazes me to see pictures of a very young fetus... at a very early term, that baby is all there... fully visible and functioning.. and just the way God planned! I decided to use Our Daily Bread designs May release set, "For the Graduate", choosing the Jer. 29:11 verse to go along with the thoughts on God's plans for each of us. I also used the Iron Works Borders set and cut out two.

I am also entering this in the Totally Gorjuss Challenge - stitching.

Recipe:
stamps: For the Graduate and Iron Works Borders from Our Daily Bread Designs
Paper: Papertrey, Making Memories, The Paper Co.
Accessories: Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Pendant die, Anna Griffith brass embossing template, Silver Embossing Powder and heat gun, Silver thread and sewing machine, Silver edged sheer white ribbon, tiny white flowers from the Bridal dept. in Michael's.

For more inspiration for this challenge, please visit my dt sisters

If you create a card or project for this challenge, please leave a direct link here. Be sure to include a direct link to Stampin Sisters in Christ. Should you upload your creation to SC or PCP, please use the keyword SSIC37.

Thanks for stopping by and for all your comments! Have a blessed day and I hope to see your take on this challenge soon!

May 1 Our Daily Bread designs Release Blog Hop

Hello everyone! Welcome to Our Daily Bread designs May Release Blog Hop! The hop will run from May 1 through Monday, May 3 at 8PM Eastern Time. The winners will be announced on the ODBD blog on Tues. May 4.

We have a special "May Day" blog hop for you this month! When I was growing up in New England, on May first, we used to make "May Baskets" for our neighbors and friends, fill them with flowers or other little gifts, and then go hang them on their doorknob, knock or ring the bell, and run and hide until they had found their basket. It was such a fun "giving" tradition! Some still carry on this tradition, and others are trying to revive it. So for our hop, you are going to collect flowers from each designer to fill your May basket! If you got here from Kathy's Blog, you are in the right place! If not, you might want to go to the ODBD Blog and start from there so you don't miss anyone!

There will be three winners for this hop. Each winner will receive a $15.00 store credit toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread designs store!

Here is what you need to do to qualify to win:

1. Hop from blog to blog, leaving a comment and collecting the flower that designer is giving away.

2. Return to the ODBD blog and leave a comment that you completed the hop and left comments for each designer. If you were unable to leave a comment for any one, just state their name in this comment and you will still be entered into the drawing. This is meant to be fun, not stressful.

3, Send me an email at gnywening@yahoo.com giving me the names of the designers and the flowers you collected.

If for any reason you get lost along the way, just return to the ODBD Blog for the list of names.

Now on to my card details:
I have used the May 1 release set, In God's Hands. I love the sentiments in this set! In my photo it is hard to make out the verse, but it reads "I will not forget you! Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands." Es. 49:11 Isn't that a wonderful thought? When you think of the nail scars on Jesus' hands, picture YOUR name inscribed there! He did that for each one of us! I stamped the hand image with VersaMark, and then the verse over top and embossed it all in Gold EP. I used a simple layout, because I wanted the impact of the verse and image to take center stage, and the cross just reminds us how He inscribed us on the palms of His hands. Love this set!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs May release: God's Hands
Card Stock: Papertrey Vintage Cream
Designer Paper: The Paper Co.
Accessories: Spellbinder's Cross, Sewing Machine, Spellbinder's Label 10, Heat Embossing equipment and gold EF, Brilliance Gold Ink for sponging, CB EF, Ribbon and Gold Half Pearls from my stash

From here you will hop to Randi's Blog, but before you leave,
here is the flower I'm giving you: CARNATIONS

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed weekend!
