A Little Sneak Peek and some family fun!

Hello my friends!  Did you think I fell off the face of the earth?  LOL!  I'm so sorry I have neglected my blog this month, but I've been enjoying visits from my family in CA, as well as my daughter's family from TN.  I had family here for 18 days and we just had a blast!  It's such a special time when we can get together because being 3000 miles apart from much of my family means it doesn't happen very often, so when it does, it's extra special!

Anyway... I did want to share a sneak peek with you, at some of the great new products being released Aug. 1 by Our Daily Bread designs!

This card uses a brand new background die set called Boho Background Dies as well as a new Word Die set: Faith, Hope & Love. It also uses new ODBD Ovals and Stitched Ovals.   I LOVE these dies!!!  I used some past releases for this card as well.  I used Fragrance, (which is included in this month's release) to heat emboss the floral image  in white on the silver background as well as on the sentiment panel.  I also used a past set, but still listed as available, Love.   I used this verse but inked up all of it except the word love with VersaMark and heat embossed in silver, then I cut the word Love from the new Faith, Hope & Love die set twice, once in white and once in silver for a soft offset effect.  I used the the new Boho Background die, cut from white to overlay my silver layer.  I heat embossed three little butterflies from the Butterfly & Bugs stamp set and cut with the matching Butterfly & Bugs Die set.  I simply added silver pearls and a silver sheer ribbon for a simple, fairly flat card that could be perfect for many occasions, including an anniversary, wedding or just a Scripture card of encouragement.

I thought I'd share a few pics of our July family get together.  I regret I don't have one photo with everyone at once, but still the memories are precious.

Nathan is just great with kids!  I know he'll make a great dad one day, and that will make me
one happy great-grandma! :)
Making a sun catcher with Madelyn.  She is so gifted artistically and musically!
She knows all the words to all the songs in Frozen and sings with beautiful pitch and amazing tonal quality for a 4 1/2 year old!

Monica and Madelyn at the playground.  Two beautiful young ladies!

Couldn't catch everyone... but... dinner after church at our favorite Chinese Restaurant

Fireworks on our shore

Watching fireworks on the lake from the boat.  I had problems with my camera shutter speed so missed most of the display, but it's always amazing to sit in the middle of the lake and watch fireworks in all directions.  Poor Madelyn kept her ears covered the whole night, but she still loved it.

 One more boat ride

My hubby with my sister who arrived the day after Brian and his family went home.
This is on the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway very late in the day - almost dark!

My sister Lois and I got to spend 10 beautiful days together!  Special times!
So thankful to God for my family and the love we have for each other and for Him!
We are truly blessed!

Thanks for stopping by and sharing some of my fun memories with me!

I hope you'll be back Aug 1 to see the entire ODBD release!

Blessings,

Welcome to the July Release!

Hello friends!  Welcome to the July Release!!!

We are excited about this release, and if you are too, then you want to read on to see how you might win some ODBD stamps!

Three randomly selected winners will each receive a $25 gift certificate to the ODBD Store, to be used toward the purchase of ODBD Stamps found in the "stamps column" of the website just for commenting on the Design Team cards!  You have until July 2, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. EDT to leave your comments on the Designers Blogs for a chance to win!  The Winners will be posted on the ODBD Blog on July 3rd, so be sure to check back there to see if you won!

For the card above, I used the Home Sweet Home set for my sentiment.  I used the new ODBD Custom Window  Dies, Shutter and Awning Dies, and Flower Box Fillers.  I also used Antique Labels and Border Die set to cut the sentiment with, and Fancy Foliage.  I used the  Butterfly and Bugs  stamp to stamp and heat emboss the butterfly on vellum, and cut it with the ODBD Custom Butterfly Dies & Bugs Die.  The design paper is the ODBD Shabby Rose Paper Collection.

I wanted a shabby chic feel so the soft Shabby rose paper was the perfect starting point. I distressed it with my scissors and Distress Ink in Antique Linen.  I used 140 lb Neenah Solar White for my base and all the die cuts, sponging them with Antique Linen.  To color the flowers and leaves I simply sponged them with distress inks.  I layered my window up with a couple of cuts to give dimension, and I added some soft pink vellum behind the panes.  I just LOVE the little flower box fillers!  They emboss beautifully and really look so perky in any scene you want to add them to!  I added some white lace to the bottom and adhered the sentiment to that with a foam dimensional tape. I added a could little whisps of gauze to my corner bouquets and decided that was enough.  I love the shabby feel.  It reminds me of my Grandmother's farm house!

My next card is totally different.  I used a tent fold for my card, and the ODBD Chalkboard Collection and Blushing Rose Collection for my design paper, on a base of Neenah Solar White.

I used two new sets for this card: Fragrance and Blossom.
I stamped the image from  Fragrance set twice, colored with Copics, and fussy cut them.  I used the ODBD Custom Layered Lacy Squares to cut my window and sentiment panel.  I put the sentiment from Blossom on the inside of the card with foam dimensionals so that when the card is closed it peeks through the window a bit.

The card is 4 3/4" square.  To make it you simply cut your card the size you want it, and then cut another piece of card stock the width of the card base x 4" high.  You score the 4" piece at 1", 2" and 3" and fold in a mountain/valley fold.  You adhere it to the inside of the card with the two cut edges facing up and the middle fold facing up.  (The 2 side "valley" folds face down).  You can see a tutorial for this fold HERE

To recap, here are the new ODBD products used today:
