Another sneak peek!

Hello friends!
I have a little sneak peek at part of a gift set I made using the soon to be released Our Daily Bread designs June release!  This card uses Thank You Sentiments, and Thank You, two of several fantastic new sets coming on June 1!  This month is by far one of my favorite releases!   You don't want to miss the hop on June 1 for some fun ways to win free stamps, and some great inspiration as well!!!  I'll show you the other part of my gift set then!

The base of this card is Gina K, the black mat is SU!, the designer paper is My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Rosy, and the red dotted panel is actually 100% cotton which I cut with Spellbinder's Lacy Rectangles die.  It cut like butter in my Grand Calibur!  The image is stamped with Memento and colored with Copics, then cut out and adhered to the fabric panel.  The lacey border is Spellbinder's Lace Doily Accents. The sentiment is cut with a Spellbinders Tags 5 and tied to the gingham ribbon with bakers twine.

I hope this puts you in the mood for a fun summer picnic!  My family is here for this week and we have been enjoying picnic time and boating, swimming, tubing, and lots of fun indoor activities as well.  I'm short on blogging time, but getting lots of grandma hugs in while I can!!!

See you on Friday at 8am EDT, beginning at the ODBD Blog!
hugs and blessings,

A sneak peek and a sale!

Hello friends!  I'm so sorry it's been so long since I posted but I have had a very busy week!  I have created a few things however, and today I want to share a little sneak peek at one of the FANTABULOUS sets coming your way June 1 from Our Daily Bread designs Isn't this image awesome?!!!  I'm loving all the sets coming out and can't wait for the full reveal coming up Friday!  In the mean time... Kelley is having a Memorial Day Sale which you can read about HERE.  She is ALSO giving free shipping on orders over $20.00 through Monday the 28th!  So have fun!!!

This card actually uses two of the new sets: Bicycle and Thank You.  I'm so in love with this image and the Thank You sentiments are so perfectly sized for cards and tags, and I love the font!  Just can't wait to share the rest with you but this will have to do it for now!  I used SU! for my base and My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Rosy for the designer paper.  The image is colored with Memento and then gone over with Spica Pen for shimmer.  The ribbon is May Arts wrinkled ribbon and was tied with Becca's Bow Maker, available at ODBD.

I did want to wish all my American friends a happy and blessed Memorial Day!  This is a time to focus our minds and thoughts on all those who have given the supreme sacrifice for our freedom, and we are grateful!  While giving thanks, lets also remember to PRAY for our nation!  Never before have we strayed so far from our roots and that for which our forefathers gave their lives is today sneered at and even called discriminatory!  Even the intent in our constitution has been twisted and changed to mean nothing close to the intent of our founding fathers!  It breaks my heart to hear our president say "America is no longer a Christian nation".... but he's right, we are not.  My question is.... how can we expect God to continue to bless this nation as He has when we no longer want Him in our schools, our courthouses, our stadiums or even on our money?   So please... PRAY for America!  We desperately need to turn back to God!

I am celebrating the weekend with all my family here, and we have lots planned from picnics, boating, swimming.... to moving the 15 TONS of rock we had delivered this week! LOL!  It's a BIG job but with many hands helping, we hope we can make light work of it!  Our grandson is saving up for a car (which he can get a learners permit to drive in 6 months!!!!) so he is trying to earn money for that, and we are more than willing to pay for his help!  So with a mix of hard work and play, we still will have a great time, and the good news is they are here for the whole week, so I have lots of fun things planned as well!

I hope you and yours are enjoying a wonderful weekend as well!  May God bless you all, and God Bless America!

Write your sorrows in the Sand and blessings in Stone!

Hello friends!  I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend!   I have a new project to share with you today.  This is one of those $1.00 wood frames found at Michael's.  I covered the face of the frame with K&Co Blue Awning dp, still one of my all time faves!  I then used T Holtz Distress Inks to paint the edges of the frame, and sponge around the edges of the paper.  I stamped the image from Our Daily Bread designs The Mighty Sea with Memento Ink and colored with Copics, really not even doing much shading... just letting the image determine the shaded areas!  I inserted the picture and some sturdy backing into the frame, then I spread Muddpuddles Malibu Beach onto the sand area in the foreground.  While it was wet I added various tiny shells and pressed into the sand.  I then let that dry.

The sentiment is from ODBD's Count the Waves set.  I stamped it on a small shipping label and sponged the edges with distress ink and did the same to the white string that came with the label.  I cut a small corner of fishnet for my lower edge, and then tucked some larger shells behind the net, and hot glued some in front of the net.  I adhered a piece of corrugated cardboard that I tore, then added the sentiment tag to that.  For the outside edge of my frame I used some braided twine ribbon I found at Hancock Fabric.  I hot glued that on with a high heat glue stick.

I hope you enjoyed this little project!  It didn't really take that long and I am pleased with how it came out.   Isn't this sentiment great?  You know... there is a lot of wisdom in this little sentiment!  If we would be willing to let God wash away  our sorrows and just hold on to our many blessings, I think gratitude would dominate our thoughts and emotions.  It's so hard to let go some times.... those painful things just raise up their ugly heads... but we are indeed sooo blessed, and how wonderful it is to be able to make those the cornerstones of our thoughts!

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Delicious Doodles - Try Something New (Muddpuddles), Inspire Me Fridays – Always Anything Goes, Moving Along With The TimesKeep it real - no fantasy figures, Paper Play -Destruction - tearing, distressing, grunge, etc, Shelly's Images- Anything goes, Word Art Wednesday- based on Scripture & free digi

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Thanks so much for looking... I love knowing you were here!

The beauty of dreams

The-beauty-of-dreams

Hello friends!  I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day!  I had a wonderful day at my daughter's house, and then on Monday the kids talked me in to bringing them home with me so they are here for most of the rest of this week.  How fun!  We have been fishing, canoeing and watching videos, among other things.  It has however limeted my creative time!

I did manage to slip one quick in one today, using this week's Mojo Sketch.  I used the sentiment from this month's release at Our Daily Bread designs, Dreams.  I also used the butterfly from Butterfly Corner.  I colored with Copics and added some sparkle to the butterfly's body with a Spica Pen.  The base is Papertrey and the designer paper is BoBunny Country Garden.  LOVE this paper! I used Spellbinder's Classic Ovals Large and Floral Ovals.   I used black twill ribbon.  So... quick and easy but perfect for the graduate and we have several coming up!

I also made this for this week's Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge, which is to use any kind of animal, bug or bird.   The Scripture this week is
“Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and
of every kind of creature that moves along the ground
will come to you to be kept alive.”  Genesis 6:20
Be sure to stop by and read Peggysue's devotional as it will bless your heart!

Another thought for a graduate... or any one for that matter:
Col 3:23
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I love knowing you visited!!!

hugs,

So, all you have to do is hop along and see all the creations and leave a little love! You have until Wednesday, May, 23rd at 6 pm. The winner will be announced May 24th!

Now, here is my creation

This is a barrette I made using satin fabric, organza fabric, Stazon Ink, and ODBD's Sweet William  and Sweet William Small sets, as well as the Coordinating Spellbinder's Die, Blossom 3.

The layers of white satin were stamped with blue Stazon ink, cut with the blossom 3 die, and I layered in some organza at the same time so the die cut both the satin and organza together for each layer.  I sealed all my edges with a candle.  It gave a bit of a curl to the fabric and lifted the edges of the organza enough to give plenty of dimension as well.  After layering all the layers together, I stitched through the center to hold them all, and then added a few little beads to the center.  On the back I sewed on the barrette.  I then took a ribbon covered hair band and attached the barrette to it, so it can be worn either way... just a barrette, on a hair band, or as a clip on a bag, flip flop.... whatever.  Super easy with these tools!!!

Here are the sets I used:

Thanks so much for stopping by.... and now I am the last name on the hop, so why not hop back to the ODBD Blog  and tell us what you thought!
Blessings,
Grace

Pop out Z fold card!

Congratulations-Z-fold Hello my friends!  I hope your week is going well!  I have a kind of fun card to share with you today that was made with this month's release from Our Daily Bread designs, Happy Retirement and Dreams, as well as Mini Tags 1.  I also played with a new fold, creating a sort of pop out from my z fold.  I stamped the image three times, lining up with my Stamp-a-ma-jig.  (Couldn't live without that thing! LOL!)  Anyway... colored with Copics and pastel chalks, then used reinkers and a toothbrush to splatter on the top and bottom borders.  I added some Prima flowers, punched greenery and natural twine, to fit this week's Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge, which is based on 1 John 2:4-6
“Whoever says, ‘I know him’, but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
But whoever keeps his word, the love of God is truly
perfected in him.”
The challenge is to use something real or natural.  Then just for the fun of it, I wanted to add something that would pop up from the pop out of the card.... so I took a paper lantern decoration from the party store, cut it down to umbrella shape, added a toothpick handle, and voila.... an umbrella that folds flat when the card is closed, but pops open with the card is opened.  I hope this will make someone smile! Wouldn't you just love to be on that beach right now?  I would!!!

I also am submitting this to the following challenges:
Catered Crop The Letter "B" (beach), The Hybrid Chick Card CaravanNature, Crafters Companion - Here comes Summer, A Gem of a ChallengePink Blue and Green, and Word Art Wednesday - Scripture or Encouragement.  You should really check out this blog!  There's always free digis of wonderful Scriptures and lots of great inspiration as well!

Well that's it for me for now!  Thanks for stopping!!!
hugs,

Congratulations! You did it!

Congratulations-you-did-it!

Hello friends!  I hope you are looking forward to a wonderful weekend!  I have one quick card to share with you that I made with this month's newly released set, Dreams, from Our Daily Bread designs.  This time of year is filled with graduation celebrations, and so I thought I'd make a quick card that would be appropriate for graduation but other occasions as well!  Any achievement can be celebrated with this stamp set, and so simply and quickly! (Just a note here... the sleeve for this set shown on the store link I gave you does not show the one stamp sentiment that is in the set, "You did it", which I love!)  I used SU! White and Black card stock,  embossing the top layer with a QuiKutz folder, then die cutting the leafy flourishes (Marianne) and punching the various sizes for the flowers.  I used my embossing pad and tools to bend and give shape to the petals, then adhered the layers together.  For a touch of elegance I added silver microbeads to the centers and along parts of the petal edges.  The flowers are Carl Punches, and the fern punch is Punch Bunch.  All these were purchased from my local stamping store.  I repurposed the ribbon from a gift, and the You did it sentiment is cut with a Spellbinders Tags 5 die and tied on with silver cording.  This is REAL CAS for me, but I like how it came out and I hope to make several like this for the rack I have at my church where people can take any cards they like, and any donations go to missions.

I made this for this week's Shining the Light Challenge over on the ODBD blog... no designer paper!

Thanks for taking a peek!  I have more for you shortly, but for now... have a wonderful weekend!

So now, here are the details of  my card:

For the card above, I used Fortress.  I wanted a softened effect, so I stamped the tower with Sahara Sand on SU! White and then colored with Copics, masked the tower,  and airbrushed the background. I then stamped the verse on Vellum with Stazon Ink, centered on the image, and adhered on the back.  Then I embossed both layers together with a Cuttlebug folder.  (Sorry I don't remember the name of the folder.)  I used a base of Bazzil, then matted with gray and white (SU!).  The corners are Spellbinders Moroccan Accents, using my shadow effect described last week.   The ribbon is May Arts, and the bow is made with Becca's Peg Bow maker.  The pearls are from AC Moore.

Just in case you missed my post yesterday, I will share the sneak peek I made using the Happy Retirement set, so you can see one other idea for this set too. You can read the details about this card  HERE.
