Hello friends!  I have a springy card with some encouragement from God's Word for you today!  This card is made with a verse from the ODBD Commemorative Anniversary God Verses Set, and the image from Life is a Gift set.  I also used the  Two Step Butterfly stamp set and  the ODBD Custom Grunge Butterfly Die.  

I used designer paper from Kaisercraft and created a tent topper card by stamping the image, coloring with Copics, die cutting with the ODBD Custom Doily Die, then matting with a Spellbinders Luscious Labels One die.  I popped this panel up higher than the top of the top fold card. I stamped the verse from the Anniversary set, along with partial images from the Life is a Gift set, then die cut with the ODBD Custom Recipe Card and Tags Die set.  I added some sponging, and a pretty May Arts ribbon and bling.  On the other side I decided to add a butterfly.  I stamped the Two Step Butterfly on vellum and heat embossed in white, then I die cut it with the ODBD Custom Grunge Butterfly Die.  I cut another one from yellow designer paper and adhered them together, and popped them up over the image.

I used the new release,  God Verses for this card.  I cut the verse with the ODBD Custom Antique Labels and Border die set.  I then sponged with Sahara Sand and matted on a layer I made by heat embossing in white the Romantic Floral Designs directly on a piece of designer paper from the Shabby Rose Paper Collection, and die cutting with the coordinating Spellbinders Labels Twenty Six.  I matted that with another Spellbinders Labels Twenty Six cut from Sarah Sand and cut down the middle so I could just slightly offset the mat.  I embellished the sentiment panel with a Want to Scrap Pearl set.  I love how it accents the ODBD Antique Labels die!  I used a base of Sahara Sand and design paper from the same Shabby Rose Paper Collection and embellished with a pearl trim border from K&Co, and some hand died wrinkled seam binding and tiny died satin rose.

Friends are Flowers in the Garden of Life!

Hello friends!  I hope all is well with you and yours!

I'm sharing a card today that I made using an ODBD sentiment from the Zinnia set, and a Power Poppy Digi called Countryside Bouquet.

Power Poppy has a monthly challenge  called Power and Spark.  This month's challenge is "The Sky's the Limit"- find inspiration from the sky... whether it's a beautiful sunset or sunrise, a cloudless blue, snowy gray or whatever you see where you live.  Well... my house faces west and I do get to enjoy some gorgeous colors as the sun is going down!  I was so inspired by the colors that Rhea recently used with this image, that when I saw the sunset out my window, I knew I was going to use her basic color scheme and technique!  There are hues of blues, orange, violet and yellow... perfect representation of a NC sunset!

I have not done a lot with digis, so I played around with this one to make a corner treatment from part of the larger bouquet.    I did not add a second bouquet as Rhea did, and my layout is totally different, but I did try to use her incredible technique for coloring my background. Using copics,   I did a watercolor technique around the flowers, making lots of dots in blue and violet, then an empty copic filled with rubbing alcohol as a blender pen to soften it and blend them slightly.  Then I masked the image and moved my Memory Box stencil around while airbrushing in the two colors.  I then used my alcohol marker to blend that and soften it still more until I got the effect I wanted.

I cut the image with Spellbinders Nobel Rectangle, matted with Majestic Labels 8, and mounted on a soft sky base.  I added a sentiment from ODBD, a strip of K&Co paper lace, and some blue crystals.  I also used my opaque white copic ink to brush on just a tad here and there for highlights.

I really had a ball coloring this!  I've been longing to color some pretty florals, and this was my happy time for sure!

Today's blessing from the Word has been such a comfort to me during those difficult times we all face at some point or another.  This particular one was given to me when my father died in 1973, and I found such comfort in it then, and it's been a go to  Scripture ever since!  I have often felt those everlasting arms supporting me!

Hello with wildflowers!

Hello my friends!  I hope you are doing well!

Today I'm sharing another card made with this month's release at Our Daily Bread Designs.  I used Life is a Gift for my image, and the new and wonderful Hello Die.  I stamped the image this time with Memento Bamboo Leaves and colored just lightly with Copics and Spica Glitter Pens. I made a recessed window using a Spellbinders Labels 38 die, popped the frame up on dimensionals.   I added Stickles to my little Martha Stewart punched butterflies and a gingham bow to finish it off. Again, my image is all sparkly but I can't capture that with the camera, so you'll have to take my word for it.  LOL!

Welcome to the February ODBD Release!

Hello friends!  Welcome to the ODBD Feb. release!

I don't know about you, but I am really going to be ready for spring this year!  Here in sunny NC, we've had a really bad year for sickness and lots of dreary days!  So I was very happy when the new ODBD sets were revealed, because they make me think of a beautiful wildflower meadow in the springtime!  I have hope that spring is just around the corner!

For my first card above,  I used Miss You for my image, and Life is a Gift for my sentiment.  I love the solid silhouette image for it's many possibilities.  Here, I first masked off an oval (cut with a Spellbinders Petite Oval large) and sponged lightly with distress inks in Broken China and Shaded Lilac.  Then I stamped the image slightly off to the side with Midnight Muse Ink.  I stamped the sentiment on the bottom and matted with Night of Navy and Periwinkle card stock.  The ribbon is really pretty two toned wired ribbon from my local store, and the pearls are from AC Moore.  This is a simple card but I do love how it came out.

For my next card, I used Miss You and stamped it with ColorBox Pigment ink "Moss", then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I cut it with a Spellbinders Heirloom Legacy die.  My card base is Neenah Solar White 140 lb card stock.  On that I layered a piece of yellow card stock from my stash.  Next, I used the SB Heirloom Legacy die for the fancy matting.    On that I layered an ODBD  Doily die cut from American Crafts Welcome Spring design paper.  I cut the die cut in half so I could spread it out to frame my oval the way I wanted.  I popped the oval up on dimensionals.  Next I cut the new and wonderful Happy Birthday Dies from a scrap of Yellow, and from a scrap of green card stock.  I used the green slightly offset to create a shadow for my yellow layer to make it stand out a bit more.  I painted the words with Wink of Stella clear glitter but it does not show in the photo.  :(  I punched 3 tiny butterflies with my MS Punch and glittered them too, and added a little bling, ribbon and flower to embellish.

Where Words Fail, Music Speaks

Hello my friends!  I hope you have all enjoyed a wonderful weekend and are staying well in this epidemic flu season! 

Well we have been busy at our house, making repairs after a roof leak and laying new flooring in all our bedrooms!  We had planned on laying hardwood floors before the roof problem and had purchased the wood, but had waited to get started until my hubby was going to be off work for the week between Christmas and New Years.  So... while other workers were here doing other things like putting on a new roof, fixing dry wall inside, and painting, hubby and I have been hard at work getting the flooring down.  We have all the bedrooms done now except for the closets.   I'm loving the new look and I think it will really help with allergy symptoms, or I hope so at least!  :)

Anyway... with my SCS Dirty Dozen cards, and all the home projects, I have not had a lot of crafting time, but today I did manage to get in to my craft room for a little while, and this is what I came up with.  I used this month's Music Speaks stamp set, as well as the ODBD Blushing Rose Paper Collection, Vintage Labels, and Vintage Flourish Pattern Dies.  The trim is Recollections, and I used a Spellbinders Fancy Framed Tags die for my sentiment, and cut off one side of the fancy frame.  The image is stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and then colored with pencils.  I then played around with the faux Bokeh technique found HERE.  I used Faber Castel Gelatos in pink and gold and the eraser on my mechanical pencil to stamp little circles on my background.  I used my finger dipped in the gold to add a touch of shimmer to the whole panel, and especially along the edges.  I also went over parts of the image with a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen and I just wish the camera could capture shimmer because it never seems to really show it, especially on dark days like today!

Anyway... I love this new set and I had fun playing with something a little different for it.  I hope it inspires you in some way to have fun with different techniques too!

Now on to my cards:

For the above card, I used Just a Note, and Faithful Fish Pattern Die, as well as previous releases: Vintage Flourish Pattern Die and Beautiful Borders.  I began with a Regal Rose base top fold A2 card.  For my background, I inked my fish pattern die with Worn Lipstick Distress ink before running it through my die cut machine.  This put a little color in to the debossed pattern. Please note:  This die is designed to deboss the fish and the dots around the outside border of the die, but I passed mine through the machine several times and then simply pierced my border holes out.  I like the way it looks this way!  I popped the fish pattern up with dimensionals, then added the pink Beautiful Border which I laced up with 1/8" ribbon.  I popped up the image on the mat and mounted that on top of the fish pattern.  I stamped the image with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and then colored it lightly with Copics.  I cut the panel with the Vintage Flourish Pattern die and popped that up with dimensionals on  a Spellbinders Majestic Label Twenty Five. 

For my next sample, I went from fairly clean to shabby and distressed.

For this card, I used  Music Speaks for my image and sentiment.  I stamped with brown Memento ink white card stock, and colored with Copics, then I distressed edges, crumpled up a few wrinkles and sponged with various distress inks.  The sentiment is cut with a Vintage Label, and distressed, then popped up on dimensionals over the lace trim.  The card base is Baked Brown Sugar, and the designer paper is g.c.d.studios - Botanique.  I used a scrap of blue designer paper and lightly stamped the It Is Well With My Soul Hymn Background with Distress ink.  I layered up my papers and decided to tuck in two of last month's tickets from Admit Three, and cut them with the ticket die in the Mini Tags Die set.  I did my first "wandering" stitch technique on this card and I wanted to go a second time around but my machine was not liking this paper and I was afraid I'd ruin it, so I stuck to just one row of wandering stitches.  My wrinkled seam binding also anchors a little bird's nest charm from Prima.

Beautiful Wishes for a Beautiful day with hand made flowers!

Hello friends!  I hope you are enjoying a wonderful week!  

Today I'm sharing a card I made for one of the challenges on SCS going on this week.  The challenge was to make your own flower.  I just got the Spellbinders Create an Iris die a little while ago and had to play along.  So this little card is just 4 x 4 but packs a punch I think.  The Iris was made starting out with very light lavender card stock, die cutting the pieces, coloring first with a white gel pen, then with Copics, and sponging the edges.  I used a sentiment from the ODBD Sentiment Collection 2, and cut it with a Spellbinders Decorative Labels 34. The little yellow flowers are made with a Martha Stewart punch and have little pearls in the center.  The flourish is from the ODBD Fancy Foliage die set.

A Look Back!

Hello friends!  Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs July Release.

 For my card, I used the new Pennant Swag 2 Set,  ODBD Custom Pennant Swag Die Set, and previously released dies: ODBD Custom Decorative Vase Die, Quatrefoil Pattern Dies, Asters Dies, Fancy Foliage Dies.  My base is Crumb Cake and I made a tent topper card.  I matted the ODBD Quatrefoil die on to the base, then for the popped up panel I used a Spellbinders Adorning Squares die to for the mat for my ODBD Decorative Vase die, which is the one I had originally designed and do love using!  I filled my vase with three white Asters, cut with the custom Asters dies, and sponged with Pink Pirouette ink.  I added Twinkle Goosebumps by Queen & Co (from AC Moore) to the flower centers.  I then stamped the Get Well message with Pink Pirouette ink using the Pennant Swag 2 set, and die cut with the matching Pennant Swag Die.  So easy... and so fun!  I tucked in a few Aster leaves I had die cut from a scrap of designer paper, and flourishes from the Fancy Foliage Dies.

This card was pretty quick and easy, yet I love how it came out. I hope you were in some small way inspired by my design, and thank you so much for stopping by!  I so appreciate your comments and love!

A masculine Birthday... clean and simple!

 Hello sweet friends!  I hope you are all doing well!  I'm glad to say that for now we have cool air again!  There is still something wrong because we are leaking freon, so our serviceman needs to come back when he has time to dig in to the inside system and possibly trace the lines, but I'm sooooo thankful to have cool air again!!! 

Today I have a masculine card to share with you that was inspired by the following wedding cake, which came from a site called the Perfect Palette.  It's a site that helps brides in the planning of their wedding and pulls together all kinds of great color combos and themes.... some of which I would NEVER have thought of!  So... needing a masculine card... I decided on this totally cool cake for my inspiration! 

 

 So I used this month's release from ODBD, Patriotic Pennants, and past releases Little Boys (sentiment) and Anchor.  I cut the anchor out from the background that the stamp has, and tried to color it up like the one on the cake, using SU! markers.  I stamped the striped pennants with Midnight Muse ink and cut out with the ODBD Custom Pennants Dies.  The sentiment is cut with two different Spellbinders Grommet Tag Dies. I used a clouds embossing folder (Embossaliscious)  for my white layer, added some twine to hang my pennants from and to hold my sentiment, and that was it.  For the one who asked for a simple card.... I think this fills the bill!  

Ironically, we are meeting friends tonight at a funeral of a mutual friend and co-worker... but then going out to dinner to celebrate our friend's birthday.  I still need to make a sympathy card right quick!  But the past few days, as I was thinking about this friend who "fought the good fight" and was taken home to be with His Saviour Sat. morning... I couldn't help but think of Paul, while in prison, writing to the Philippians.  In Phil. 1:21-24  he said....

"For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.  But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose.  But I am hard pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better;  yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake."  What a beautiful picture of a life lived for Christ and His glory.... but also filled with assurance that when we are believers, when this body has passed away... our spirits are with Christ in Glory!  On the cross, Jesus said to the thief who acknowledged Him as Christ... "this day you will be with me in paradise."  It brings to mind too, a favorite saying of mine which we used in our wedding: "Only one life... 'twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last".  We can't earn our salvation... that's why our Savior had to die to pay the price He did not owe, but we could not pay... but our purpose while here on this earth is to be busy doing whatever it is He has called us to do... to bring Him glory!  I know our friend Larry is in heaven now, casting his crowns at Jesus' feet and resting in that place that is "far better".  We have that hope ... assurance in us, but in the mean time, it is our job to be busy doing what brings Him glory.  May it be so in my life!

The card above is made using the Rose Bouquet set, and the Iris set (for the sentiment).  It also uses a new ODBD Custom Decorative Vase Die.  Back quite a while ago I had designed a vase and used it when the Hydrangea set was released.  Kelley asked me for a template of the vase and then Michelle added the fancy detail to the vase, and this die was the result.  It fits perfectly with this month's Rose Bouquet, but it also fits several other of the ODBD Florals!  I'm so pleased to finally see it as a die!  I hope you all like it! 

 To create this card I started with a 5x7" side open base, added an embossed layer which I created by rubbing a Darice embossing folder with Broken China Distress Ink and then ran through my Grand Caliber.  I then cut a Spellbinders Card Creator Heirloom Legacy die cut for my mat from white card and I stamped the Rose Bouquet  image twice on white card with Memento ink.  I colored with Copics and then cut out select roses to pop up for dimension.  I cut one Rose Bouquet image with an oval die from the same Spellbinders Heirloom Legacy die set, sponged with Broken China, and added the popped up roses.  The decorative vase was cut from white card, sponged with Broken China while still in the die, then lightly sponged around the edges to create dimension.  I added some tiny pealrs and adhered the vase to the oval panel.  I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Iris set and cut with a Spellbinders  Tag die.  I added a seam binding bow and done.

 For my next card I really had fun!  I have been wanting to create one of these card designs, and I thought this month's GORGEOUS designer paper, the Blushing Rose Collection was perfect for it!  This card is bigger than I normally make, but it measures 6x6".  For the front I used the new Galilee Rose stamp designed by Michelle Laycock.  I stamped with Old Olive and then colored with Distress inks and sponged daubers!  I went back with my distress markers and just highlighted  some parts of the image for contrast, but in reality, coloring this couldn't have been quicker than using the sponge daubers!  I used various papers from the Blushing Rose Collection, added a mat of the ODBD Custom Quatrefoil Pattern Die, and some seam binding. 

 For the inside of the card, I used the basic instructions found HERE. I did reverse my opening of the card, wanting the card to open from right to left, where as hers opened the other way.  I used more of the awesome Blusing Rose Collection design paper, stamped the Scripture from the Cherry Blossom Set , cut the panel with Spellbinders Labels 34, matted with Decorative Labels 34 and I decorated the message panel and "steps" with the ODBD Custom Beautiful Border die.  A little sponging around the edges to distress and I was done.

Taking a Look Back at the May Release!

Hello sweet friends!  I hope you are all doing well and enjoying your week!

Today, the DT is taking a look back at the May Our Daily Bread designs release!  To see all the creations, you can visit the ODBD Blog.  To learn all the details about each designer's creation please visit each one as linked below.

Now for the details on my card:

I used the beautiful morning glory image from Glory, and the sentiment from Carried to Heaven.    I also used  the ODBD Custom Dies:  Vintage Label Dies, Vintage Flourish Pattern Dies, and Fancy Foliage Dies.

I decided I wanted my card front have a light and airy filagree feel, so I cut the Vintage Flourish Pattern Die, and then created a hinge that fits within the straight top part of the die by cutting the back of my card at an A2 size, PLUS about 1/4" along the long edge. I  scored at 1/4" and folded and burnished the card.  I trimmed off any excess that showed below the frame, and then adhered with tacky tape to the back of the Vintage Flourish Pattern Die.  Now I have a pretty see through design for my card front. I then triple stamped my image on three different sizes of the Vintage Label Dies, colored my image, and stamped the sentiment on the smallest die cut.  I lightly sponged the edges. Next,  I popped each layer up and then added some of the flourishes from the Fancy Foliage Die set.   My only other embellishment is a little white and pink bow.  I like how this came out.  I decided that I will put my message on another Vintage Label die on the inside, set right behind the front one so you don't see my writing  from the front of the card.

Always Remembered, Forever Loved!

Hello friends!  I hope you're having a great day!

Today I'm sharing a card I made for the color challenge on SCS.  The colors were real red, old olive and daffodil delight.  I came as close as I could with my Copics, coloring this gorgeous morning glory image from the ODBD set, Glory. I added some white opaque gel pen dots to my flowers. I used Carried to Heaven for my sentiment, and punched out some yellow butterflies with a Martha Stewart punch.  The lattice frame is from Spellbinders.  I rounded my corners with a SU! punch.  Each layer is popped up on foam dimensionals, and there are no embellishments so it's pretty flat and mailable!!!  I am so happy to be finally getting comfortable in my own skin, so to speak, doing things more clean and simple!  While I will always love my layers.... I don't really like one layer cards much.... yet I have come a long way in not having to embellish everything to the hilt!  LOL~ One layer cards make me feel like anyone can go to the Dollar Store and get one of them for next to nothing, and I don't want to feel like I'm cheating the recipient of the added care a special hand made card requires.  That said... I am finding a sweet spot somewhere between overly CAS and over done and expensive to mail.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men."

Welcome to the ODBD 6th Anniversary Release!

 Welcome to the Our Daily Bread designs 6th Anniversary Celebration and release!!!  If you have not seen the full release yet, you might want to pop on over to the ODBD blog to see it all.  Be sure to see below at the end of this post all the details of how YOU could win this entire release bundle!!!  

 This is the special time of the year when the designers submit a Scripture verse, sentiment or quote they would like to see in a stamp set, and they are then made in to the Anniversary Sets for this special celebration.

My verse is the one you see above from Ps. 61:2.  It is in Scripture Collection 12.

I thought that the mountain from the ODBD Keep Climbing set as well as the Bird Borders and Corners were a perfect fit with my verse. So I kind of cased a card of my own from a couple years ago, simplifying it a bit but still similar. My card base is Sage Shadow and then I used Neenah Solar White and Memento Ink to create my layers of images.  I cut the verse out with the ODBD Custom Elegant Oval dies, and matted that with a Spellbinders Majestic Label 25.  I died some seam binding with sage shadow ink but in the photo it looks a little off.  In real life it's a pretty close match. Here are the past release sets I used as well as the new Anniversary set that my Scripture is in, Scripture Collection 12.

 

Here is another card made with my Scripture verse:

For this second card, I stamped with Regal Rose on white card stock three of the smallest Zinnias from the March 1 release. I then created a vellum overlay to soften the colors.  I created a window for my sentiment by stamping the Scripture verse on regal rose card stock with versamark and heat embossing in white, and then cutting a Spellbinders Marvelous Rectangle frame for it.  I also stamped one zinnia on the vellum, and one on white card stock, and heat embossed them both, cutting out the card stock one with the custom Zinnia and Leaves die.  I cut an ODBD Custom Fancy Foliage flourish from white card stock, and four Beautiful Borders, which I cut off the lacy part and used just the little eyelet edge for my edging inside and outside. I added a sheer bow and some pink pearls to finish it off.  This one was hard to photograph, but in real life it is prettier than in the photo.

For my final sample, I used another verse from the same Scripture Collection 12.

  I paired the Scripture verse with the past release, Dahlia Single. I stamped the Dahlia all over my background with Memento ink in Nautical Blue.  I created the matting for the verse by cutting a white card stock layer with a Spellbinders Curved Border 2 on each side.  I then masked the edges of the panel and stamped the Dahlia in the center of the widest part, and again on the top and bottom.  I cut my verse with a Spellbinders Classic Circle Large and popped up with dimensionals.  I decorated with another ODBD Custom Fancy Foliage flourish, a May Arts bow, a small beaded flower, and some ZVA blue pearl flourishes.
