Giving Thanks!

Enter-with-Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving my friends!

Today, I have a card of Thanksgiving.  It seems like more and more, Thanksgiving is getting lost in the Christmas hustle.
Well... I wanted to just take a moment to say thank you to the Lord for all His blessings!  This has been a difficult year for my hubby and me, with the recent loss of his job high on the list of trials.  However, it has caused us to really focus on Him and all He has done for us!  The list is long!  I guess one of the neat things that has come out of this lay off is that we have had to refocus our thoughts on the things that are really important.  We had both been praying that the Lord would draw us closer to Him... and we both believe this is one of the ways He is doing that.  He's reminded us that all that we have is a gift from Him.  He has also reminded us that He will never leave us or forsake us!  He will meet our needs, even if not all the "wants".  We know that He has a plan for us, and we are waiting to see what that is!  While I'd be lying to say I don't have my "down" moments, I really am at peace with the fact that I know He will lead us through this and we're looking forward to this next stage of our lives.  I'm also thankful that all our immediate family have come to accept Christ as their Savior and having that common love and assurance of a future in heaven with our Savior is such a special and wonderful comfort!  I'm thankful for friends who have done so many thoughtful little things to remind us that they are praying for us and love us!  I'm thankful for new friends made this year who have become so dear to me!  I'm thankful for the love and support of my family!  I'm thankful for the health and strength God has given us, and that we will all be together for Thanksgiving.  I'm thankful that this year... as Christmas approaches, our focus will NOT be buying gifts, shopping til we drop, wrapping and being busy right up to the last moment!  This year... because we can't really buy much...  I really think our focus will be more than ever on the gift that was given so many years ago by the Almighty God who loved us, and wanted to have a relationship with us, so He sent His one and only Son to pay the price we could not pay, so that we could walk with Him today, and be with Him tomorrow!  There is no greater love!  You know... when we just begin to count our blessings... it's pretty hard to be depressed or worried about our lives!  Today.... I choose to be thankful!!!

I hope that you too are enjoying a wonderful time with your loved ones, and that you find some time to thank God for all His rich blessings on your life!!!

Our Daily Bread designs wants to celebrate this season in a special way too!  They are having a "We Give Thanks to God" special with 10% off and Free Shipping! Several of the DT have made special cards for Thanksgiving.... so pop on over to the ODBD Blog to see them, and read all about the sale!

For my card, I used Give Thanks and Fruit of the Spirit, from Our Daily Bread designs. My base is Bassill and the dp is My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Sunshine.  I used Memento Ink, colored with Copics and cut my image with Spellbinders Ornate Artisan Tags & Accents.  The flourishes are Spellbinders Twisted Metal Tags.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!  May you feel God's richest blessings in the days ahead in a new and fresh way!

hugs,

Blesssings of the Season

Blessings-of-the-Season-BB1

Hello blogging friends!  Things are still hectic here so I'm sharing another card I had in the works.

I made this with Our Daily Bread designs Nov. release, Warm Wishes, and also Peace and Joy.  The design paper is BoBunny's newest release, Snowfall.  I stamped the sentiment from Warm Wishes onto one of the elements in the BoBunny 12 x 12 pack, and then stamped the small snowflake from Peace & Joy with VersaColor, and cut with the custom die cut.  I covered the entire snowflake with crystal glitter, then sponged the edges.  I did some piercing around the edges but really wanted to let the paper and stamp steal this show, so I kept it simple.  This is nice and flat and mailable... and super quick to make!

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Hooked on Crafts -  Punches and /or Diecuts, Make it Monday - always Anything Goes, Make My Monday - Christmas WITH Flowers, Foliage or Snowflakes, Paper Creations Ink -  Christmas, One Stitch At A Time -  Anything Goes Crafty Emma -  #62 Snowflakes

Peace, Love & Joy Christmas wishes!

Holly-and-Pine-2.

Hi there friends!  It is time for ODBD Stamping In Time Challenge (SNTODBD48)! The assignment is to use Our Daily Bread Design stamps. The challenge this rotation is to create Christmas cards, gift packaging, gift ideas or anything festive you can think of to share with a Christmas theme!       Remember, the more you play the more you increase your chance to win! We look forward to seeing what you create using ODBD stamps!
I have used this month's newest release, Sacred Season.  I just love this set and decided to stamp the image and sentiment on the same piece of card stock, using Memento Ink.  I colored the image with Copics and then added Liquid Applique, sprinkled with glitter while wet, then dried with my heat gun, giving the puffy effect.  The background is created with  a Sizzic embossing folder/stamp combo, which I stamped with Distress Ink in Forest Moss.  I used the Spellbinders Holly Accents, 2 MS edge punches for my lower edge (pine boughs and holly) and layered them.  The base is Bazzill and the matting is Recollections Brushed Gold.

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you can play along.... and please stop by the following designers for all the great inspiration they will have for you:

Snow Globe Multi Frame

Snow-Globe-3

Hello friends!  Today I have a really neat framed piece to share!  I used Our Daily Bread design's latest release, Warm Wishes for inside my frame, and colored with Copics.  I added glitter to all the trees but you can't see that!  I also added flower soft (Polar White) to the snow on the foreground, and inside the globe I added a few snow sugar crystals.  The frame itself is a multi-layered chip board frame by Globecraft Memories.  I adhered various designer papers from K&Co Christmas Cheer pad to each layer, and cut with my craft blade.  I sponged all the edges with T Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut Stain.  I embellished with several punched boughs (MS) and some pearls and pine cone stick ons (MS).  Here is the stand that comes with the frame:

Here is how it looks in the natural sunlight.... shows the stamped image better but you can hardly see the globe! LOL!  This project's greatest challenge was the photo!

Today I have a quick card to share that I made with a Sizzix/Hero Arts stamp/die cut combo pack.  Really cool! All the images have a matching die!  I used the sketch from Tuesday Trio and the color combo from My Partner in Crafting Crime.  My base is SU! Rose Red and the designer paper is BasicGrey Sultry.  I colored these solid images with markers, adding a touch of a second color to the edges of some then huffed and stamped.  I stamped the main flower twice, cutting it out once to pop it up.  I added a touch of blue chalk around the image for the color challenge, then spritzed with Irredescent Gold Glimmer Mist.  I added some SU! grossgrain ribbon and Hero Arts pearls.

Elegant Christmas Ornament

Christmas-Greetings

Hello friends!
I hope your week is going wonderfully!  Time seems to be just flying by for us these days.  The silence on the job hunt is deafening, yet everything else seems to be just flying by us.  To keep sane.... I made another Christmas card.  This card uses the newly released set from Our Daily Bread designs called Ornaments 2, and is cut with the coordinating Spellbinders 2011 Heirloom Ornament Die.  I love love love this set!  I used Coredinations for my base, and Anna Griffin Calisto Christmas and Recollections brushed gold for my designer paper.  The ivory strips are Gina K embossed with a CB folder, then inked with Brilliance Galaxy Gold.  The ornament itself was heat embossed on white card, then sponged with T Holtz Fired Brick.  I heat embossed the sentiment and cut with a SU! punch, then mounted on a Spellbinders Holly Accents cut out from the Holly Accent Dies. I punched a hole in the ornament and ran some gold cording through it, and mounted that to the main panel, then added a pine bough edge punched piece (MS).   I sewed each panel and added some bling and a sheer ribbon.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Crafting for all Seasons - #13 texture, Freshly Brewed - #70 Anything goes, Paper Shelter Challenge -  #38 Christmas fun, Scrapbook Sisters - #58 Anything Goes, Stampavie and More -#155 Anything Goes, Anything Goes Challenge -  #53 Stitches Real or Faux-1st Week, Paper Take Weekly - Anything Goes & a bit of bling, Ribbon Carousel Challenge - must include spooled item - Anything Goes (thread & gold cord & ribbon), Stamp-N-Doodle - Embossing, Always Something Creative - Challenge#16 - It must Sparkle!, Heidi's Hobbystuggu -  - Bling/Sparkle, Really Reasonable Ribbon - Must use ribbon -  Christmas Theme, Ooh La La CreationsStitching (faux or real), Paper Playtime -  Anything Goes, Paper Pretties - Use a Sentiment, Pollycraft - Anything Goes, Come and Get It Challenges - Anything Goes, Dream Valley Challenges - Anything Goes, Lollipop Crafts - Anything Goes, One Stitch At A Time  - Christmas, The Ribbon Girls -Must use ribbon - Jingle all the way to Christmas, Gingerloft - BINGO (ribbon, dp, sewing), Little Claire's  -  #14 Christmas, Sweet Stampin - must Stamp - Anything goes,

Now Here are my card details:

I made a diorama card.  It was the first thing I envisioned when I saw these sets and couldn't wait to play with them.  I used the Custom Window Die, made for ODBD by Spellbinders, and the "outside" scene called Warm Wishes, and I also used the Crocheted Background for my curtains.

For the front, I cut the window frame out of textured brown card stock scraps, and sponged the edges for dimension.  The diorama itself is 4" x 6".  After cutting and scoring my designer paper (BasicGrey Wassail),  I determined the middle and cut the hole for the window.  I then adhered acetate to the back and using Diamond Glaze I added crystal glitter (MS) to the window panes and let dry. The curtains were cut from some card stock that I had stamped with the Crocheted Background.  I sponged them while still in the die, and again around the edges when removed.

Snowy-scene-detail

The middle layer is made by stamping the image once, masking and stamping another tree and coloring with Prisma Pencils and Copics.  I used more of the glitter on the branches though you can't see it that well... it really glistens in the light!  I then cut out the trees and adhered my middle layer.  I punched an MS border around the top and used the left over part for the border at the bottom.  It was really fun and I encourage you to give it a try!  It folds flat for mailing.  You can find a tutorial for a Diorama card here, (by our wonderful Angie) but be sure to adjust your measurements!

Just as a reminder.... if you missed our release last week of the Praying for a Cure set.... it's a wonderful set that can be used for anyone fighting any illness or other real life challenge.  If you missed my post, here is the card I shared for that release, and this set also is being officially released today!

I know there's much more for you so see, so I'll send you on to the next stop now... hop to the ever so sweet and talented Angie!
hugs,
