Giving Thanks!

Enter-with-Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving my friends!

Today, I have a card of Thanksgiving.  It seems like more and more, Thanksgiving is getting lost in the Christmas hustle.
Well... I wanted to just take a moment to say thank you to the Lord for all His blessings!  This has been a difficult year for my hubby and me, with the recent loss of his job high on the list of trials.  However, it has caused us to really focus on Him and all He has done for us!  The list is long!  I guess one of the neat things that has come out of this lay off is that we have had to refocus our thoughts on the things that are really important.  We had both been praying that the Lord would draw us closer to Him... and we both believe this is one of the ways He is doing that.  He's reminded us that all that we have is a gift from Him.  He has also reminded us that He will never leave us or forsake us!  He will meet our needs, even if not all the "wants".  We know that He has a plan for us, and we are waiting to see what that is!  While I'd be lying to say I don't have my "down" moments, I really am at peace with the fact that I know He will lead us through this and we're looking forward to this next stage of our lives.  I'm also thankful that all our immediate family have come to accept Christ as their Savior and having that common love and assurance of a future in heaven with our Savior is such a special and wonderful comfort!  I'm thankful for friends who have done so many thoughtful little things to remind us that they are praying for us and love us!  I'm thankful for new friends made this year who have become so dear to me!  I'm thankful for the love and support of my family!  I'm thankful for the health and strength God has given us, and that we will all be together for Thanksgiving.  I'm thankful that this year... as Christmas approaches, our focus will NOT be buying gifts, shopping til we drop, wrapping and being busy right up to the last moment!  This year... because we can't really buy much...  I really think our focus will be more than ever on the gift that was given so many years ago by the Almighty God who loved us, and wanted to have a relationship with us, so He sent His one and only Son to pay the price we could not pay, so that we could walk with Him today, and be with Him tomorrow!  There is no greater love!  You know... when we just begin to count our blessings... it's pretty hard to be depressed or worried about our lives!  Today.... I choose to be thankful!!!

I hope that you too are enjoying a wonderful time with your loved ones, and that you find some time to thank God for all His rich blessings on your life!!!

Our Daily Bread designs wants to celebrate this season in a special way too!  They are having a "We Give Thanks to God" special with 10% off and Free Shipping! Several of the DT have made special cards for Thanksgiving.... so pop on over to the ODBD Blog to see them, and read all about the sale!

Beautiful card, I understand all you wrote so well, my husband and I have been married 21 years and have been through alot of difficult years from various tragedies. I have learned that when things are easy in life it is easy to praise God, it is the trials that bring us closer to Him. If we allow them to. As you said, we must seek him out in the midst of them. I praise God that I am learning to stay close to him in both times, and have peace either way. It is something you learn in time. God bless you, and Happy Thanksgiving.

Beautiful card Grace! You truly are blessed for all the reasons you listed and also because your eyes are open to the Lord and his blessings for you. I pray every day that our immediate family would come to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Some are receptive, others are not. Thank you for taking the time to list so many of your blessings Grace, and for giving us this message today. Have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving with your loved ones!

Happy Thanksgiving, Grace! What a beautiful picture of your heart you have given us in these words. I'm smiling right now as I think of what song you have at the top of your playlist. And of the verse in Isaiah that says His ways are not our ways. Trials in our lives are not meant to beat us down, but rather to sift us out from the chaff and that really is something to be thanful for, isn't it?!
I will be praying that God's plans for this time in your life will be made clear to you and your husband.
Blessings to you and your family.
Love and hugs!
Elizabeth

Grace, what an awesome Psalm you have used....all of your layers remind me of the layers of 'things' we let get in the way of keeping it simple and focusing on Him and all he has supplied us with.....grateful for His love and forgiveness. A beautiful card. God Bless.

Grace, God has blessed you greatly with your gifts of art and the grace to share your love of Him. My hubby is off work for several weeks due to surgery, and finances are most definitely difficult. Christmas for us, too, this year will be more than ever about Him and his incredible gift. Thanks so much for sharing your gifts. You are blessed and blessing us all! Thank you.

Hi Grace,

I love what you wrote. It is so true, that sometimes He takes some of the things away from us so that we can be all that much closer to Him. I know that is what happened with me when Dave lost his job.

I love this card! This is one of my favorite stamps from ODBD. I think it could be used for so many reasons! I love your coloring...and the Scripture looks wonderful...so clear. I really love all of your die cut work. I am guessing that is what most of the black is. It looks amazing! And, your sheer bow is perfectly tied! Thank you so very much for sharing all that you did...you are a very inspiring woman!

He IS Able!

Grace, thank you for your encouraging words!! Our last year was full of one large trial after another, and it did cause me to completely refocus my priorities and be thankful in a new way for things we normally take for granted. Though we can find the blessings in our trials, I am praying that this particular one of yours is short-lived!!
Your card is absolutely gorgeous, beautiful papers and image and frills and thrills!! Love it!! Blessings to you as you look forward to advent!!
