Chalkboard John 14:6

Hello friends!  I hope you are enjoying a wonderful week!  It's so windy here today I'm wondering if we'll have power this afternoon when they say it's "really" going to get bad!  My house is already whistling!  LOL!

Anyway, I have another sneak peek for you.  This is a Chalkboard set to be released Friday by Our Daily Bread designs.  It's called Chalkboard- Johns.  I used today's sketch challenge on SCS for my layout and I stamped the image with VersaFine black ink, then sponged with Brilliance Irredescent White to create a bit of an erased look on my "chalkboard".  I used a black base, and My Mind's Eye designer paper, Bramble Rose. I added some burlap ribbon and black pearls, and a wrinkled seam binding bow finishes it off.

I love this verse and I think it could be used for many uplifting cards.  I hope you'll be back Friday for the release and blog hop!

I am entering this in the following challenges:   Paper Minutes - Scraps Of Paper/Paper Cut Offs, Party Time Tuesdays -  Anything Goes, Through The Craft Room Door  Always Anything Goes!, Top Tip Tuesday -  Lavishly Luscious Layers, Tuesday Alchemy - Anything Goes, Twisted Tuesday -  No twist! Another Sneakie Peekie!

Our Daily Bread designs stamps, Earth's Gladdest Day, designed by Grace Nywening
Hello friends!  I'm excited to be sharing another sneak peek with you today!
I created this card for this week's Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS, and I'm using a set to be released Feb. 1 by Our Daily Bread designs called Earth's Gladdest Day.   I LOVE this set and the sentiments in it are great!

Our Daily Bread designs stamps, Earth's Gladdest Day, designed by Grace Nywening

I know this is a lot of white space for me, and very CAS, but I'm trying to learn how to make a CAS card look good, and today's featured stamper sure had some beautiful CAS designs to help me learn!  I stamped my image with Memento and colored with Copics, and then I added some Flower Soft to the centers.  I cut the main panel with Spellbinders Labels 23, and then pierced the border of the mat.  I stamped one of the sentiments from the set in the upper left corner and added a Cheery Lynn Mini Exotic Butterfly die cut.  Easy peasy!  No wonder so many people love CAS!  It can actually be done quick and that is a GOOD thing! LOL!

Well that's it for me tonight!  Hope you had a great weekend, and are ready to see what God has for you in the week to come!  I hope to see you back here Feb. 1 for our awesome blog hop!!!

A little bit country sneek peek!

Our Daily Bread designs stamps,Chalkboard - Hymns, designed by Grace Nywening

Hello friends!  I'm popping in with a quick sneak peek at a set to be released Feb 1 by Our Daily Bread designs.  This set is called Chalkboard Hymns.  The set is designed to be a chalkboard stamp, but the possibilities are limitless with how you can use these stamps.  I decided to stamp it with Colorbox Pigment ink and then clear heat emboss it for this card.  I'm sorry the photo isn't great... the highlights of the embossing seem to make some spots seem lighter than others, but I took so many photos and could not fix the problem. Anyhoo... This card is on Groovy Guava base and I used My Mind's Eye Bramble Rose design paper from AC Moore.  I also had a linen tag that I cut down in size and sewed a little mixed stitch around.  I added a little lace, a hand crocheted flower and a Prima wood button.  Very CAS for me, but I like the country feel of it.  I also love this hymn!  While I love the new worship music, I do miss some of the old hymns too!

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Simply Create Too - Anything Goes, 4 Crafty Chicks -  Buttons, Cards by Lady Anne / Stamp Challenge - anything goes, Crafting for all Seasons -  buttons and bows, Crafts and Me - #117 Vintage, Paper Shelter Challenge -  anything goes, Anything Goes Challenge -  Buttons & Bows, through The Craft Room Door Anything Goes!,
ColourQ - COLOUR CHALLENGE

Thanks for stopping by.... stay tuned for another awesome release coming soon at ODBD!!!

Little Boys! Don't ya love 'em!!!

Our Daily Bread designs stamps, Little Boys, designed by Grace Nywening
Hello friends!!!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  I certainly did!  Yesterday was my birthday and I was blessed beyond measure with messages, emails, drop in visitors bearing gifts and cards,  and a special lunch after church with our kids.  It was our first day back to church since my husband's health issue and it felt so good to be back in God's house worshiping together with our church family!  There are some wonderful TV Pastors on TV , but nothing quite matches worshiping together with your church family!

Anyhow... this is a card I created for an SCS challenge using this month's Our Daily Bread designs set,  Little Boys.   I think this image is so precious!  It makes me think of my grandson.  Even though he is 15 now, he has always loved to fish and could spend hours fishing off our dock even when he didn't have a very long attention span for anything else!  This image would be perfect for a little boy's birthday, but also as a boy baby card.  Here is the set:

Our Daily Bread designs, Little Boys

The dies are Spellbinders Lattice Pendant, Ribbon Banner, and Lattice Accents. and Classic Ovals Lg.   The embossing folder is Crafts Two.   I stamped the image with Versamark and heat embossed with Stampendous Pearlustre Sapphire embossing powder.  Then I sponged over it lightly with soft sky and not quite navy ink.  I tucked the Spellbinders classic circle into the lattice pendant and popped up the layers.

Challenges I am entering my creation in:
WordArt Wednesdays - word art freebie OR use an encouraging uplifting sentiment - #63 anything goesGlitter n Sparkle - Sentiment Cards und More - #73 Use A Die  Amusing Challenges -  - Birthday The Squirrel & the Fox - Anything Goes
Here Come the Boys -Bingo- Blue, Free, Image A Gem of a Challenge -  Emboss it Send a Smile for Kids -  Anything goes 4 Kids

Hope you have a most wonderful week!
Blessings,

Thanks for your service!

Our Daily Bread designs stamps, Fellowship Sentiments, Grace Nywening
IBSIC-#41Hello friends!  I'm poppin in quick to share I card I made for a couple challenges this week and I need to hurry if I'm going to get them in on time! LOL!  I used this week's Deconstructed Sketch and Inspired by Stamping inspiration photo to create this card.  I also wanted to play in one of my most favorite challenges, Word Art Wednesday! There's always a freebie verse you can use, or use any faith based sentiment or verse of encouragement, as the Lord lays on your heart!  Karen and her team are such a blessing, why don't you play along!

I used Our Daily Bread designs Jan release, Fellowship Sentiments for this card, stamping with Memento and cutting with a Spellbinders Back to Basics Tag die.  The little envelope is the perfect size to tuck a gift card for that someone who serves tirelessly and you want to thank with a little something special.

I used BasicGrey Fairy Belle dp on a base of Kraft, added some wrinkled seam binding and pearls.  Loved the colors of this ic!

I thought I had beat the crud but alas, last night it seems to have started in again!  I'm so ready for this sicky winter to be OVER!  LOL!  Hope YOU are staying well!

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to stop by tomorrow for our next For the Love Hop!  See you then!

To a Special Little Princess!

Hello friends!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  Our journey continues as we try to get my husband's Cumadin levels right.  Today his bloodwork had him at 4.9, which is way too high, so the adjusting begins.  LOL!  I can see this will be a journey of adjustments until we get it figured out.  Other than that, he is doing well, and thank you all for your continued prayers!

Today I have a fun card to share with you that I made Sat. for the inspiration challenge on SCS. THIS was the inspiration piece I chose from a great store, Layla Grayce.    I created this easel card using the new Special Girl  Set from Our Daily Bread designs.  I used Websters Pages ( In Love) papers on a Bazzill base.  I used Spellbinders Ornate Artisan Tags & Accents, Ribbon Banners, and Marvelous Squares.

The image is colored with Copics and the crown charm at the top is from Making Memories.  A few perals to finish it off and I think most any little princess in your life would love to receive this!  I know mine will! :)

Gramma's Birthday Blessings for her first born grand child

Our Daily Bread designs stamps, Special Boy, Grace Nywening
Hello friends!
Yesterday marked the 15th year that I have been a Gramma!  Where has the time gone?  I just turned around and this tiny little bundle of baby boy turned in to an almost 6' tall young man, and a sweet loving young man at that!  This is the card I gave him for his birthday, because he and his dad are working on a big project of completely rebuilding an old 1949 GMC Pickup.  It's been his dream for some time, and now they finally have the opportunity and it's been a great way for them to spend time together.  When I gave him this card, he remarked a couple times that this card is really "COOL"!  That of course made me feel good! :)  So... if you have a young man in your life... young or old, I think this image is perfect for them all!  The stamps are from this month's release from Our Daily Bread designs, Special Boy.  I stamped with Memento and colored with Copics.  The papers are various scraps I had in my scrap box, on a black base. I hand cut the checks for the canopy at the top.  I used copy paper folded inside with my special note to him, and enclosed a check.

Here is the set I used:
Our Daily Bread designs stamps, Special Boy

I thought I'd share a picture of my grandson holding his card... and one with my daughter who is almost 5'8" standing next to him so you can see what I mean when I say... he's really growing up!  I'm so thankful to have such a wonderful family who love the Lord and are trying to live their lives for His glory!

A Card,a Sale and a Medical Emergency!

Hello friends!  Wow!  I feel like I've been on a roller coaster ride and it finally slowed down enough for me to get off! To catch you up on what's been going on in my life I'll just briefly recap the past 8 days.  Last Thurs. morning, I was sick with a flu bug and about to call my Dr. to make an appointment when my husband called terribly out of breath, and said he couldn't breath and was being taken to the hospital near where he works, which is about an hour and a half from here. Since he also had been sick, we though most likely it was pneumonia.  I called my daughter and she immediately started the 2 hour trip from TN, and we went down to the hospital. After hours of testing, he was admitted to ICU with multiple large pulmonary embolisms in both lungs.  He was critical at that time, but he was started on blood thinning meds and the next day, an ultrasound found a large blood clot in his leg, and it was determined that is where these other ones came from. Of course we were very concerned!  I was sick with the flu at that time and had developed multiple secondary infections and was in desperate need of antibiotics too, but I was able to get a script called in and started on them right away.  There's so much that went on over the course of the next 4 days in ICU, but long story short.... he is doing well now, and although he was sent home  with his INR PT levels far from where they had said they should be before sending him home, our visit with the Dr yesterday did find his levels are now just where they should be.  He will be monitored biweekly for a while, and then monthly when everything settles out, but he will be on these blood thinners for life.  He has some more CT scans to make sure this event was not caused by a tumor in the abdomen, but more than likely we will never know what really caused this to happen when it did.  While he does travel with his job, he had not done so recently, so it is rather strange. However, he had been scheduled to leave this Sat. for an extensive trip to Germany and France, and we are soooo thankful this did not happen while in flight or over seas!  We have seen and felt God's protective hand in so many ways throughout this time, and I give Him all thanks and glory for pulling my husband through this!  Yesterday our own Dr saw him and went through the case, and he told us this was "a very critical event" and could have very easily killed him, but we are thanking the Lord for answered prayers and His loving mercy upon us!  So many of YOU were praying and I want to personally thank you from the bottom of my heart!  So... with more visits from family, and our grand  kids just leaving this morning, I now find the house quiet and I'm ready to de-stress with some creative time!

First, I do want to mention that Rick, Kelley and Josh are exhibiting at the CHA trade show in Anaheim, California this week! Please note that no orders will ship out during this time but they will resume shipping on Friday, January 18, 2013.

CHA saleWhile they are away you can save 20% on all Stamps Sets and Singles! *Please note that this sale does not include Stamp Bundles.  This limited time sale starts today, January 10, 2013 and runs through Wednesday, January 16, 2013 Midnight EST.

Then I thought I'd share a card I made for an Inspiration challenge on SCS before all this happened, and I had never had the chance to share the card here!

I made this card for IC369, the inspiration for which was taken from a site called Wedding Bells. I found these Table number cards and knew exactly what I wanted to do.

This came together in a flash! Very CAS for me! LOL!
The stamps used are  Our Daily Bread designs: All Occasion Sentiments and Antique Labels Designs, both designed by Michelle Laycock.  I also used the custom die made by Spellbinders for ODBD, Antique Labels & Border Dies.

I used dp from an older Making Memories pack, Black Tie Affair, a scrap of Old Olive and a vanilla base. My label is stamped with ColorBox pigment ink and clear embossed, and the sentiment is stamped with VersaFine and heat embossed. Wrinkled ribbon is May Arts. The flowers are ZVA Creative.  Thank you for stopping by and reading my long post today!  I have more to share with you shortly, but time is pressed right now.

Have a blessed weekend my friends!  Be sure you make each moment count, and be ready, because we don't ever know what moment could be our last!  Life can be going along smoothly and we might be lulled in to a sense of false security... we need to be sure that we know that things are settled with our Lord and we are ready to face Him, because one day, we will breath our last breath, and time to "get ready" will be over!  If you are not sure of your future after this life is over, please... email me at the address in the side bar so I can help you to know!

Hugs & Blessings,

Happy Birthday Rick Blog Hop!

Our Daily Bread designs stamps, Special Boy, Grace Nywening

Hello friends!
Today is a special day at Our Daily Bread designs!  It's Rick Holland's Birthday!  If you've been to any of the craft shows... I'm sure you've met Rick... more than likely working the cash register.  He is Kelley's husband, and is an integral part of ODBD!  So today, some of the design team members made a card for him, and are doing a special hop for his special day.  If you got here from Sweet Sabrina's Blog, you are in the right place!  If not, you should go back to the ODBD blog,to start from the beginning!
First a few hop details:
  •  This hop will run from 8am EST Jan 9th until 8pm EST Jan 11.
  • There will be a HOT SPOT hidden along the way, so be sure to leave a comment on each blog, because one name will be drawn from one of the blogs comments to win a $20.00 gift certificate toward stamps in the ODBD Store!
Now.. a little about my card :  I used this month's new release, Special Boy for my image and sentiment, but I split the sentiment up so I could put it in little hand cut banners.  My papers are mostly Basic Grey Marjolaine, though there are a few scraps of other papers in there too.  I did sew my patches and sponged with THoltz Brushed Corduroy.  The image itself is stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copics.  I'm thrilled to have this new set... perfect for my teenage grandson who is currently rebuilding a pickup truck with his dad, and who has a birthday in a few days!  So this one is for Rick... but I have another to share shortly that is going to him!

Our Daily Bread designs stamps, Special Boy,

Rick.... Happy Birthday!!!  I thought about using "Let's Roll" for my sentiment, but since you are over the official hill, I didn't want you to pick up speed on the way down...(hahaha)  so I am simply sending you Blessings on your special day, and I hope in some small way that we have brought joy to your day!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Your next stop is  our talented graphic designer, Michelle Laycock!

I used this month's release, All Occasion Sentiments, Antique Label Designs and the custom Antique Labels die made to match the labels by Spellbinders.   Can you say LOVE?  These all occasion sentiments by Michelle Laycock are just perfect so many different needs.

Our Daily Bread designs, All Occasion Sentiments, Antique Labels designs, Grace Nywening

I pulled out one of my older Martha Stewart punches for this card, punched white card stock and layered it over brushed silver.  I heat embossed the sentiment and frame in silver and matted the sentiment panel with a Sbellbinders A2 Polka Dots die.  A little bling and a sheer silver bow finished it off pretty simply, yet I think it has an elegant feel.

Jan. Release Blog Hop!

Our Daily Bread designs Stamps, Princess, Grace Nywening

Hello friends! Welcome to the Our Daily Bread designs January Release Blog Hop!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

WOW!  Is this ever an exciting release!!!  Kelley has out-done herself again!  If you got here from Julie's  Gorgeous Blog, you are in the right place.  If not, you might want to start at the ODBD Blog so you don't miss a thing!

  • The hop will run from 8:00am EST Jan 1 until 8:00pm EST Jan 2.
  • Winners will be announced on the ODBD Blog on Jan 3
  • There will be 3 prizes of $20.00 Gift Certificates toward stamps, and 1 GRAND PRIZE of a $75.00 Gift Certificate toward stamps!  What a way to begin the new year, right?
  • To qualify for a prize, simply hop to each designers blog, leave a comment, and return to the ODBD Blog and tell us you completed the hop, noting any problems you might have had along the way.  If you have made any special New Years resolutions or commitments, we'd love to hear about them then as well!
So here are the details of my card:

I used the fabulous set, Princess.  I have a little princess and when I saw the set, I just knew I had to create a dress to go with this sweet crown and fabby sentiments. I went with a slightly different fold, choosing to extend the skirt over the left fold a bit, and cutting away the top of the card on either side of the dress, thus giving a peek of the crown that's on the inside.

Our Daily Bread designs Stamps, Princess, Grace Nywening

I used shimmery card stock and embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, and then I used a glittery card stock for the top of the dress.  I heat embossed the crown on acetate with a silver glitter embossing powder, and cut out, placing it on the corner of the silver Spellbinder's Antique Frame, which made me think of a mirror on the wall.  Inside that frame is a sentiment from the set, embossed with silver ... Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.

Our Daily Bread designs Stamps, Princess, Grace Nywening

I backed the front of the card (dress) with pink mirror paper, and tied a pretty tulle sash around the waist.  The inside is also matted with mirrored paper.  On the front of the card I used another SB from the Antique Frames set and embossed another sentiment from the Princess Set, which I just love!  As children of the King... we ARE princesses, and I love the idea of conveying this message to our young girls to whom the world constantly sends messages that it's beauty, popularity, success, etc. that gives them their worth.  Our worth is in Christ, and we are dearly loved, adopted as His children, and joint heirs with Christ!   If we know Him as Savior, we ARE princesses!

Our Daily Bread designs Stamps, Princess, Grace Nywening

Just a tip on drawing a dress:  I folded a piece of paper in half and drew just half the dress at the height I wanted (6").  I cut it out doubled so I had even sides.  I then traced the top on another piece of paper, and drew a line down to the center fold for the drop waist.  I hope you'll give it a try!  I'd love to see it if you do!

Here is the set I used:

Our Daily Bread designs Stamps, Princess, Grace Nywening

I thought I'd also share a card I shared as a sneak peek just in case you didn't see it... because this sweet set is so worth seeing again!  It's a precious set called Little Girls, and the possibilities are limitless!

You can see the details of this card and the sets used by scrolling down one post.
