A Bushel and a Peck, and a Hug around the Neck!

Hello friends!  Today I'm happy to be sharing another sneak peek at the ODBD's Sept. release - Apples.  What says fall is just around the corner any better than a  basket of apples?

I used a couple of the sentiments from this set as well... including the word "apples" which fit perfectly in my designer paper rectangle that seemd to be just screaming for a stamp!  The image is stamped with Memento and colored with Copics.  The designer paper is Little Yellow Bicycle from Acorn Hollow, and the red dot paper is from We R Memory Keepers.  The embossed panel is a SU! folder. The tag is cut with the ODBD Custom Recipe card and Tags die, and the apples were cut with a SB Lattice Rectangle die.  The twine is May Arts.  I did run my brown ink pad over the raised part of the embossing folder, and sponged all my panels with distress inks.

I don't know why, but as I'm posting this card I'm finding myself singing "A tisket, a tasket, a green and yellow basket..."  Anyone else remember that?  Gee where did THAT come from?  lol!!!  WAY back there somewhere!  Anyway... it's an ear worm now!  The other day we were talking about ear worms, and had a lot of fun coming up with fun tunes and giving each other ear worms.  Don't know what an ear worm is?  Here's the definition:  An ear worm is a catchy piece of music that continually repeats through a person's mind after it is no longer playing.  So my question for YOU is... what ear worms do you find yourself singing?  I'd love to hear... and of course I'll be singing them all!

Hope it's a happy walk down memory lane!

Before I go, just wanted to let everyone know that there is a big sale going on at Our Daily Bread designs until August 31.  No code needed, but all stamps and dies are 20% off!!!!   Check it out on this post!

A sneak peek - Ring Christmas Bells!

Hello friends!

Today I'm sharing a card that gives you a sneak peek of  one of my favorite of the September release from ODBD.  This set is called Jingle Bells.  I love this image and of course... the sentiment is wonderful!  I used a base of black and layered white and brushed gold, embossing the white layer with a Cuttlebug holly stripes folder.  The lower edge is cut with Spellbinders A2 Scalloped Borders, and the sentiment is cut with an ODBD Elegant Oval, and matted with a Spellbinders Lattice Motifs die.  I stamped the image with Memento ink and colored with Copics.  I stamped two images so I could pop up one set of bells over the first for dimension.  I then tucked them in around the sentiment.  The white snow has glitter added.  A simple sheer red ribbon finished it off.

Thanks so much for stopping by~  I love knowing you were there!!!

In a Pickle?

Hello friends!  Today I have a card that I made for a couple SCS challenges.  One was to make a window card and put the image and sentiment on the inside!  Well I thought that might work out perfectly with this cute pickle image from this month's ODBD release, Pickles.  I ran a layer of white card stock through my e-Bosser with this leafy vine embossing folder, and cut my aperture with a classic circle lg. by Spellbinders.  Then I matted that with this cute gingham dp from Paper Studio.  I cut that opening with a scalloped circle large.  On the inside of my card, I added another layer of gingham paper, stamped the pickle image with Memento ink, colored with Copics, and cut with the same scalloped circle, and mounted in the center of the card.  I added a tag that I cut with the ODBD Canning Jar Dies set (small jar used here), and I stamped the sentiment from Pickles, the Jar from Blue Ribbon Winner, and a couple pickles from the Strawberries and Pickles set.  I tied that with a piece of bakers twine.  On the front, I decorated the white with a flourish die from the new Fancy Foliage Dies, and added some tiny blossoms from the wedding dept. at Michaels.

Here is the inside:

So this was a fun one!  I think the sentiment is a hoot.

Here are the ODBD dies and sets I used:

Thinking of You from my Garden!

Hello friends! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful Lord's day!   Today I have a fun card to share with you.  This was created for a couple challenges on SCS but I wanted to share it with you here as well.  I used this month's release Blue Ribbon Winner and the ODBD Custom Canning Jar Dies as well as past releases Daisy, All Occasion Sentiments, and the Elegant Ovals Die Set.

I stamped the flowers with Memento and colored them with Copics, and fussy cut them out, adding a couple from a second stamping.  I stamped the canning jar twice.... once on card stock, and once on acetate with Stazon Jet Black ink.  I then cut both out with the custom Canning Jar Die.  How fun!  I then drew in a few stems in my jar, and added some leaves from the second image I had stamped, and colored a light blue tone on the card stock layer. I then added the acetate layer on top, giving the jar a glass shine, and putting the leaves and stems "behind" the front of the jar.  I cut my sentiment with the second smallest Elegant Oval die, punched holes in the sides and tied baker's twine around the jar.  I embossed my white layer with a Sizzix folder, and matted with denim and gingham dp from Making Memories.... these were from my stash and were fairly old.  I added another sentiment from the All Occasion Sentiments set at the bottom, and called it done.  This card is 5 x 7, larger than I usually create, but to use the sketch with the images I chose I needed a larger base.  It's hard to get a picture that shows the acetate, but here's a close up of the details:

I hope you like my project.  It was a lot of fun!

Have a wonderful week!

A Look Back at the ODBD August Release!

ODBD Stamps: Peaches, Garden Mini, Blue Ribbon Winner, designed by Grace Nywening

Hello friends!  Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs.

I decided to can some peaches for my sample (lol) and then I shared a favorite "quick" recipe for Peach Cobbler.  I used Blue Ribbon Winner for my canning jar, along with the Custom Canning Jar Die to cut it. I then stamped the small peach image from the Garden Mini set twice on a sticky note and cut them out to use as masks.  To "can" my peaches, I didn't want the leaves and stems in my jar, so I used a T Holtz marker to color just the outline of the peach, and began stamping on the jar image, using the masks to mask off prior stampings so I could overlap  images without having the overlapping lines show. This technique gives you the opportunity to have one front image, and then add more images "behind" it without overlapping lines. I colored all my peaches and jar with Copics.  To finish off my canning jar, I stamped the word "Peaches" from the Peaches Set on a label of designer paper from my Basic Grey Songbird pad.

The card itself is made on a base of craft, and the designer paper is MME Stella Rose.  Because I wanted to include a recipe with this card, I used the ODBD Recipe Card Lines stamp and the Custom Recipe Card and Tags Die to create a recipe card on craft card stock.  I used the Peach Cobbler stamp from the Peaches Set and hand wrote my recipe, and added a colored peach from the Garden Mini Set.  The pocket that holds my recipe is die cut with a Spellbinders A2 Bracket Die

I added some lace trim and small lace tied around the jar lid, and a small piece of dark burlap.

Love You! Happy Anniversary!

Hello friends!  I hope you are having a GREAT week!

I'm sharing a card I made for my hubby for our 42nd Anniversary today.    I thank the Lord for giving me a Godly and loving man to be by my side through all these years.  I can honestly say I admire, respect and love him more today than I did the day I married him 42 years ago!  We've been through a lot of things, but the Lord has been our guide and the center of our marriage, and the glue that has held us tightly together throughout the years.
 Thank you Lord!

This is pretty CAS for me you might say, and you'd be right!  I didn't have a lot of time to make this, and I also find that CAS cards work pretty well for guy cards.  The image is from  ODBD Waves on the Sea, and is stamped with Memento ink on cream card stock, and not colored except for just a light shading of the boat with a Copic marker.  I pierced around the image and popped it up over my embossed panel.  I used the Forest Branches Cuttle Bug folder for the embossing, thinking in some way it might look like water.  The sentiment is from a North Coast Creations set, Heaven's Masterpiece.

EDIT: Edna I have added a link to the folder I found on line.  Since your profile does not list an email address for you I have no other way to answer your questions.  Hope this helps!

That's it for me today!  I have a full week
yet ahead of me with workers coming to do work on the house.  I'll be in dry wall dust for days to come! It's all good though!

Have a blessed day, and here is a Word for today:

"I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which He is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us"  Is 63:7

Plant Seeds of Hope

Hello friends!  I hope you had a great weekend!  I have a busy week ahead of me but I wanted to pop in to share a fun little card I made for the Feature Focus Post over on the ODBD Blog.  Today we are focusing on the ODBD Custom Apron and Tools Dies, and the Custom Recipe Card and Tags Dies.  These are super fun to work with and the Apron Die that I have used here makes such fun and easy cards in a hurry!

I used this happy MME dp called Fine and Dandy on a base of vanilla for my apron and I love the sort of retro look it gives.    I have so much fun trimming these little aprons out!!!  I used SB Romantic Rectangles for my "lace" trim, and an MS Punch for the lower edge.  Since this month's ODBD stamp release is focused on a garden theme, I decided to use a sentiment from the Garden Sentiments set, and I cut it with one of the ODBD Elegant Ovals dies. The tools are cut from card stock and colored with Copics.  I tied the scissors on to the apron as that has a special place in my memories of loved ones.  You have to admit... scissors are always handy to keep near at hand whether gardening, sewing, crafting or cooking!  I remember my grandmother wearing an apron what seemed like all the time.... but now I'm thinking that wasn't such a bad idea!

Here are the ODBD products I used for this card:

ODBD Stamps: Garden Mini, I Dig You, designed by Grace Nywening
Hi my friends!  I hope  you are all well today!

I have a quick card to share that is also totally FLAT and easy to mail!!! :)

This is for this week's ODBDSLC165, which is a sketch, and for the Color Challenge on SCS this week.

My stamps are ODBD I Dig You, Garden Mini, and Gingham Backgroud. I also used the ODBD Custom Fancy Foliage Die and the Elegant Oval die. The bg die is SB Resplendent Rectangles. The designer paper is Paper Studio. Images are stamped with Memento and colored with copics.

This was really a quick easy card, which I know a lot of us need to move to.... not every card can take hours! lol!

I am enjoying this month's garden themed release at ODBD and I hope you are inspired by them as well!  Here are the ODBD products used:

It's All About the Sentiments!

ODBD Stamps: Strawberries, Strawberries and Pickles, Blue Ribbon Winner, Garden Sentiments, designed by Grace Nywening
Hello friends!  Today I got to play in the TLC challenge on SCS.  Joan challenged us to create a "large stamp image" by combining various sentiment stamps around a common theme, stamping them in different colors and making that the focal image for our card.  I first thought... oh that will be hard!  I will admit that lining things up straight is a challenge and I certainly didn't get that perfect, but it still was fun and opened up my mind to a whole new way of using my sentiment stamps!

I used the following ODBD stamps to create this sentiment panel:  Strawberries, Strawberries and Pickles, Blue Ribbon Winner and Garden Sentiments. I also used this month's custom die for ODBD by SB, Fancy Foliage .

The lattice is Cheery Lynn, and the dp is Recollections. I used Regal Rose, Real Red, Certainly Celery, and Old Olive for my sentiment colors.

This is pretty CAS I guess, but I wanted the sentiments to take center stage.  I hope you'll consider this technique some time as it really is fun and these large sentiment stamps are very trendy now, but we don't all have stamps like that, so making our own is a great idea!

August ODBD Release!

ODBD Stamps: Peaches, designed by Grace Nywening
Hello friends!  Welcome to the Our Daily Bread designs August release!!!

By way of announcement, I just want to let you know that after about 4 years as DT Coordinator, and over 4 years on the ODBD Design Team, I am stepping down from the DT Coordinator position.  This will give me less time on the computer and hopefully help with my pain levels.  I hope to stay on the team for as long as possible, but one step at a time is the way we walk right now.

So anyway... with that said... Kelley has decided that once again this month instead of a blog hop, she has posted the DT  projects  on the ODBD Blog, but the details for the cards are all on our own blogs.  Kelley will be choosing one random winner from one of the designers blog comments to receive a $50 Gift Certificate to the ODBD Store  to be used towards the purchase of stamps.  You have until August 3, 2013 at 9:00pm EST to leave your comments on the designers blogs.  The Winner will be posted on the ODBD Blog on August 4th, so be sure to check back there to see if you have won.

So now for my  card detail... for my first card I used the set Peaches.   I stamped the image and sentiment on the jar label with Memento, and colored with Copics.  I cut the image with a past die release, the ODBD Elegant Ovals.  The designer paper is Websters Pages Park Dr and the ribbon is from the same collection.  I have sponged everything with Distress Ink.  I popped up the paper pieced jar lid on dimentionals and adhered my image to a cork layer.  I embellished with the new ODBD Custom Foliage Dies and Spellbinders Cherry Blossoms for the little flowers. The doily is from my kitchen :) and is also sponged for a bit of distressing.  Tiny pearls embellish the flowers and finish it off.

For my second project, I created this card,  using another new set,  Strawberries, as well as a past release Gingham Background.  The image is stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copics.  The sentiment is cut with the ODBD Custom Recipe Card and Tags Die, the image is cut with the ODBD Elegant Ovals, and the Flourish embellishment is from the newly released ODBD Foliage Dies (LOVE!!!).  My mat for the image is embossed with a basket weave folder and cut with a SB Lattice Rectangle from Craft.  The top punch is EK Success, also from craft.  The white layer on the bottom is an MS card pack I bought a while ago to use just as cards, but I find that layering them on to my cards makes a very pretty layer as well.  The bow is seam binding with a hand crocheted flower added.
