A Sneak Peek

Hello my friends!  I hope you are all doing well!!!  I have been very busy and I apologize for my lack of posts!  I did want to pop in though and give you a little sneak peek at a beautiful new set to be released July 1 at Our Daily Bread designs

This beautiful new floral set is called Blossom.  I also used a past release, the tiny little butterflies, which are from the Butterfly and Bugs mini set, and cut with the matching Butterfly and Bugs dies. The rose and buds were stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copics, then hand cut.  I used the gorgeous Sunburst Background Die to cut and emboss my background from some shimmery pink paper in my stash.  I think it was from Hobby Lobby and I just have been hoarding it because it's so pretty.  I wish the photo captured the shimmer, but you'll have to take my word for it.  Anyway...  I sponged a little Razzberry ink from the center of the sunburst out and adhered it to a white base.  After cutting the roses and buds I spritzed them with Glimmer Mist Pearl, and arranged them on my background, tucking in an ODBD Custom Fancy Foliage Die Cut.  I also cut an extra set of leaves for the blooming rose.  For the sentiment, I stamped it with ColorBox Pigment in Razzberry, and cut it with the ODBD Custom Mini Tag Die.  I tucked that in with a tiny pink sheer bow.   To finish it off, I stamped two little butterflies with Razzberry ink on vellum, then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder, and die cut them with the Custom Matching Butterfly & Bugs Die.   I folded one to look like it lit on the rose bud.

I hope you like it and will be back on July 1 to see all the design team's incredible inspiration!  I'm in awe this month, seriously!!!

See you on the first of July!

Blessings,

Be a Ray of Sunshine!

Hello my friends!  I hope you are all doing well!!!

We are having unseasonably cool weather for June here in NC, but it's perfect for getting things done as the temps are "just right" in by book!  I tend to wilt in the hot summers with the heat and humidity we have here, so I'm really enjoying this little cool spell.

Today I have a card to share that I made using this month's ODBD release, Hello Sunshine, along with the Sunburst Background Die. I also used the past releases: Pennant Die set and Recipe Card and Tags Die.  I am in love with this fun Hello Sunshine set!  It is simple enough to make a quick card, but with the detailed Sunray Backgorund die, it can still create a card full of fun!

For this one, I started with a YoYo Yellow base, and I used a Neenah Solar White panel to emboss the sunray background.  White it was still in the die, I used my VersaMark pen to ink over some of the white sunrays, and then took it out of the die and heat embossed with Iridescent Clear embossing powder.  This gives a wonderful shimmer and acts as a resist for the next step.  I sponged orange and yellow on to some other rays, and then I placed two pennants from the Pennant Die set end to end, adhered them together, and did the same technique on it to line up with the background die.  I stamped the sentiment from Hello Sunshine on the lower part and adhered to the background.  I stamped the smiley face on yellow card stock, embossed the edges with the same iridescent clear  powder, and adhered it to the pennant.  The entire sunray background is adhered to the yellow base with dimensional foam tape and this allows you to see light through the piercings of the die and brings it forward more.  I kept it simple by adding just a little yellow bow for embellishment.

This set with it's sentiments brings to mind a song we used to sing in Sunday School and Bible School when I was a kid.  "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam".    The lyrics went like this:

Jesus wants me for a sunbeam
To shine for him each day;
In ev'ry way try to please him,
At home, at school, at play.

Jesus wants me to be loving
And kind to all I see,
Showing how pleasant and happy
His little one can be.

Chorus
A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.
A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
I'll be a sunbeam for him.
Words: Nellie Talbot
Music: Edwin O. Excell, 1851-1921
Does anybody else remember this little song?  Happy memories, and packed with good lessons!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hugs,

Welcome to the ODBD June Release!

Hello friends!   I can't believe it's June already, can you?  Well, believe it or not, it is, and that means new goodies being released from Our Daily Bread Designs!  The bread sticks have been having a blast playing with the new toys!  They are super fun and I think they will be a big hit!

First a few details on how you can qualify to win some new ODBD stamps!
Three randomly selected winners will each receive a $25 gift certificate to the ODBD Store, to be used toward the purchase of ODBD Stamps found in the "stamps column" of the website just for commenting on the Design Team cards!  You have until June 2, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. EDT to leave your comments on the Designers Blogs for a chance to win!  The Winners will be posted on the ODBD Blog on June 3rd, so be sure to check back there to see if you won!
Now, on to my card above.  I used the new single, Father's Day Tools to stamp my fun sentiment, colored with Copics and cut out with the ODBD Custom Elegant Ovals die.  I used the newly released Pegboard and Hooks die and Workshop Tools dies to make the cute tools haning on the pegboard.  I cut the tools once from silver card stock and once from another color, cut the handles off the colored ones, sponged a bit and adhered to the silver.  To make the toolbox I simply used a scrap of red Bazzill card stock, measured the size I wanted, as well as the size drawers I thought looked right and cut out.  I used a Spellbinders Classic Rectangle die to cut the bottom so there are little legs.  I then took a piece of silver design paper and scored it every 1/8" and used my cutter to cut along the score lines.  I adhered the silver strips to the tops of my drawers after sponging all the edges with Distress Inks.  My bottom drawer is popped up on foam tape so I can have it look like our tool box does here... there seems to be always something hanging out of a drawer so I kind of played off that with a tool and my rendition of an extension cord hanging out.  To make the extension cord I just took some twine and colored it orange with a Copic Marker.  The base of this card is Kraft, and the brown design paper is from a great new ODBD Paper Collection, Vintage Ephemera Collection.

For my next card, I used the new Hello Sunshine to stamp my sun and rays with Memento ink, and fussy cut the image.

I also stamped just the word sunshine from the same set, and used a word punch to cut it out.  The background is an awesome new die, Sunburst Background.  I wanted to keep this card clean and crisp so I cut it from Neenah Solar White and popped it up with foam tape on a white base.  I added the sun which I had cut from a scrap of yo yo yellow card stock, and added two clouds from a previous release, ODBD Custom Clouds and Raindrops Dies.  I cut the word Hello with the ODBD Hello Die also from the yo yo yellow and adhered it to the card.  Then I took the little sunshine from the Sunbirst Background die set and mounted my word sunshine on top of it.  I really like the crisp clean feel of this card.

In case you missed my sneak peek earlier, I wanted to share here as well.  This card uses one of my favorite verses, Jer. 29:11 from the new set Good Man.    I paired it with this great paper that has house and landscape "plans" on it from BoBunny.  You can read about this card HERE.
