Welcome to the ODBD Sept. Release!

Hello sweet friends!  Can you believe it is September already?  Where did summer go?  Well I must admit that I am ready for cooler temps and that crisp evening air that comes during this season!

This month's sets are perfect for fall!  I am sharing one set, Rise and Shine,  and a wonderful new  die set, Beverage Cup.  What's better on a crisp fall morning than a hot cup of coffee and your Bible in your lap, sitting on the porch while you have your quiet time?  Yes, I do believe it's my favorite season!

For the card above, besides these new products,  I also used the ODBD Art Deco  Die, the Trellis Strip Die, Pierced Square Dies, Pierced Rectangle Dies, Layered Lacey Square Dies, and the ODBD Blushing Rose Paper Pack.  I had fun layering up the rectangles and squares, and I colored in the letters with a Spun Sugar Tim Holtz marker.  I embellished with some tiny sequins and the seam binding bow on to which I tied a bronze cross charm.  I absolutely LOVE this sentiment!  This is soooo my daughter and me!  We have coffee together every morning, although we're 2 hours apart... but she calls when she is having her morning coffee and by then I'm ready for my second cup, so we chat together over coffee, and often our conversation turns to things of the Lord.  There is nothing more special than that point in life when your "child" becomes a spiritual encourager even as you continue to encourage her in her faith as well!   Then for a REAL treat... sometimes we meet somewhere part way between us for coffee in person.  That is where my next card comes in! :)

For the card below I again used Rise and Shine, and the Beverage Cup dies.  Additionally I used the ODBD Flower Lattice Strip Die, a snippet from the Doily Dies, the Leafy Edged Border Dies, and the ODBD Vintage Ephemera Paper Pack.  The dies in the Beverage Cup set are very versatile with lots of fun embellishments for your cup, which could be coffee or tea.  I used some wrinkled seam binding to follow the line of my Leafy Edged curvy border, and I added some half pearl flourishes for my wafts and a little floral arrangement on my strip die.  Can you smell the fresh ground coffee?

I made my card in to a gift card holder so I could tuck in a gift card to a local coffee shop.  I'm so thankful for friends and family who love to meet for coffee!!!  It's one of my favorite things to do!  To make this all I did was use the part I cut out for the front of the card's dark brown strip, and I purposely made that cut out such that I'd have enough left over to hold a gift card.  I used the little heart die from the Beverage Cup set to cut out a window so the card peeks through.  Simple but does the trick!

Sending Many Thanks!

Hello friends!

I hope you are all doing well!  I am popping in today to share a quick card I made using this month's new release, Thanks for Everything stamp/die duo, as well as past releases: Sending My Love stamp/word die duo, Cherry Blossom, and the ODBD Pierced Rectangle dies.

I decided to try a vintage watercolor look with Copics instead of real watercolor.  To achieve the vintage look, I stamped with Memento Rich Chocolate, then because I wanted a very light tone effect, I first "painted" on Copic Colorless Blender to wet the area, then I added just a touch of color to my flower petals and with the colorless blender drew it in to toward the center and blending it out.  For the centers of the cherry blossoms I used a pale yellow to just barely add color.  I did the same with the leaves and stems.  I added touches of E31 copic for that tanish tone.  I cut the word dies from Sending My Love and Thanks for Everything from Kraft card stock, and used that same card stock for my base.  For the off frame look of my image, I stamped the two images, then die cut the outter frame and inner cut using two sizes of  the ODBD Custom Pierced Rectangles.  I popped the center panel up on foam tape for dimension.

I hope you'll consider this card sent just to you... you who have been praying for me through this past 10 months of treatments!  Your notes of encouragement and prayers have meant the world to me!  I continue with my HER2+ targeted infusions, and hormone blockers, and should be finishing up treatments in mid Nov.  I am gradually getting my strength back, and while still dealing with several side effects of treatment, I am beginning to feel better.  We just celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary with family, and we are looking forward to taking some time off in Sept. to just rest and recharge after a very difficult year.  I  am hoping to have some scans when I complete treatment so I can know that there was no spread of the cancer during this time, but I'm fully believing that there was not.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your prayers, love and support!!!  To God be the glory!!!

Blessings and Love,

Looking Back at the ODBD Aug. release

Hello friends!  I hope you are all doing well!!!

Today we are taking a look back at the Our Daily Bread designs August release!  I have really loved working with these sets and dies!

Today's card is a little different from my usual, but I love how it looks in person, and it's quite flat and mail-able!  I used the new With Sympathy stamp/die combination set, stamping in a soft pink ink.  I wanted the card to have a soft feeling so the pink ink is just that, and I used just pink and white for my card stock as well.  While this might not photograph as well, I love that it's not harsh either, like black ink would be on this soft card.  My card base is white, followed by a pink layer, then another white layer on which I stamped my sentiment and then chose an embossing folder from Sizzix that has leafy vines and berries on it, but I was able to position it such that the sentiment was for the most part left not embossed.  This helps the words to show up better.  I then added two Art Deco die cut strips across my card.  I die cut the word Sympathy from the set and positioned that where I wanted it.  Then I heat embossed  and die cut three cuttings of the Beauty (Stargazer image) set, using the matching Lily die.  My pink card stock die cuts were heat embossed with white, and the white layer was embossed with pink.  I created a little bit of depth by layering up these images just slightly offset from eachother, and I adhered them to the card with foam tape.  I added some flourishes using the Fancy Foliage dies, and finally, I added  a white and a pink die cut butterfly from the Bitty Butterflies die set.  A few little gems finished the card off.

Be sure to check out more wonderful inspiration by the other designers participating today:

Wishing Happiest of Birthdays to You!

Hello friends!

I hope you are enjoying your summer (or winter to my friends down under)!

Today I wanted to share another card I made with this month's release from Our Daily Bread designs.  I love birds, and we enjoy watching our blue bird house become the hatching place to many new blue bird families each year.  So it stands to reason that I love coloring this sweet image from the Birdhouse set as bluebirds.  I'm sure you have seen many samples by now with the birds colored differently so you know this can be very versatile, but my heart always draws me to the bluebirds.

I used the sentiment from the Woodpecker set, as birthday cards seem to be a constant need.  I used the new Pierced Squares, and a past release, the Wishing word Die, as well as the Birthday Brights Paper Pack.   My image is colored with Copics, and the only embellishments are tin orange half crystals.  The base is craft, and the Wishing word is die cut and popped up with tiny foam dimensionals to adhere it to the card.

Thanks so much for looking!

With Deepest Sympathy!

Hello friends!  I hope you are all doing well!

Today I'm sharing a sympathy card made with the Aug. release from Our Daily Bread designs.  Sympathy cards can be the most difficult cards there are to make.  We usually don't have the best stamps or sentiments for such a card, and we are often making them under very sad circumstances.  This month's With Sympathy stamp & die combo goes a long way to help us with these difficult cards.  There is the beautiful Sympathy word die, but there are also several wonderful sentiments with it that could be used on the front of the card, but also on the inside.  Here is a closer look at the set and what comes in it:
I am in love with word dies, and how they make a pretty impactful card with very little time involvement.  So as you can see there are lots of words you can use with the die itself, but sentiments like "Our thoughts and prayers are with you" is perfect for the inside as well.  There is no more difficult note to write in a card (in my opinion) than a sympathy message.  I know I will be using this one often.

The other products I used on this card are the new Flower Lattice strip diePierced Circles dies, Fancy Foliage dies, Bitty Blossoms die, and the paper is from the ODB Pastel Paper pack.  The layout is simple and the card is quite flat.  The only embellishments  are three tiny black half pearls.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort.

Welcome to the Our Daily Bread Designs Aug. release!

Hello friends!  Welcome to the Our Daily Bread Designs August release!
If you haven't had a chance to view the entire release, you can do so HERE.

Three randomly selected winners will each receive a $25 Gift Code to the ODBD Website  just for commenting on the Design Team cards!  You have until August 2, 2016 at 9:00 p.m. EDT to leave your comments on the Designers Blogs for a chance to win!  The Winners will be posted on the ODBD Blog on August 3rd, so be sure to check back there to see if you won!
For my center step card above I used the new Birdhouse set, as well as the new Art Deco Border Die.  I simply sized my dimensions on the center step to fit the Art Deco dies on the sides.  The papers are from the ODBD Blushing Rose Paper Pack, and other dies used are the ODBD Lavish Layers , Ornate Ovals, Ovals, and Fence die.  I stamped the image with Memento ink and colored with Copics, then hand cut the image and mounted it on an Ovals die, on which I had sponged some sky and clouds, and then I matted the oval with an Ornate Ovals die cut, and added the Fence die across the bottom, and the sentiment on it is cut with a  Lavish Layers die.
For the card below, I used the new Thanks for Everything Stamp/Die Combo, as well as the new Pierced Squares dies.  I also used a new Trellis Strip Die on the left side of the card.  I started with a base of craft, then added a layer of design paper from the Blushing Rose Paper Pack, then I cut two white pierced squares, two patterned pierced squares, and then an outside frame from the pattern paper, mounted on to a white square on which I had stamped the "for everything" sentiment.  I die cut the word "Thanks" from craft and sponged with Memento Rich Cocoa, and adhered that to the sentiment panel.  I cut out a rose cluster image from the same paper pack and added it and some greenery from the Lovely Leaves Die set.  I finished off with a butterfly cut from the same paper pack using the Bitty Butterflies die set.  The sentiment panel and roses are popped up with foam tape.  A few little pearls finished it off.

A sneak peek at August!

Hello friends!  I hope your July has been fabulous, and that you are managing to stay cool!  It's been so hot here!  I hate to even go outside when it's this hot!

Hard as it is to believe, July is almost over, and with August will come another new and awesome release at Our Daily Bread designs.  I'm sharing a sneak peek with you today.  This card is using a new set called Woodpecker, and also a new die, Trellis Strip.  I love them both!

For this card I did something I rarely do.  I started with a base of black, layered on a cream layer, and then a design paper layer from the ODBD  Vintage Ephemera paper pack.  I die cut the new Trellis Strip die from black, and then die cut my main panels, using the new ODBD Custom Pierced Squares diesPierced Rectangles, Double Stitched Rectangles, and the ODBD Squares dies.  I embossed a cloud pattern on the cream layer and mounted my woodpecker on it.  I had colored him with Copcis and hand cut.  I also stamped and die cut the sentiment from the same set, and placed on the card using foam tape to pop it and the image up.  My embellishment in the upper left corner was made with red twine, and several elements made with the Fancy Foliage Dies and the  Lovely Leaves Dies.  I added a brad gem to the top and the sentiment panel.  I wanted to try to keep this card more masculine but I have to admit it's always difficult for me to do that!  Sometimes you just want to add flowers and ribbons! Hopefully the twine and greenery will work for a guy card.

I hope you've enjoyed my sneak peek and that you will be back on Aug. 1 to see the entire release!

Have a wonderful weekend!
