Masking out to make a Winter Scene

Hello everyone!  I hope your week is going well!

I was excited to get to play along on the SCS sketch challenge today.  I have had this idea in my head for a while and today was the day I got to try it!  This image is from the Newly Released Our Daily Bread designs set "With Deepest Sympathy".  If you look just 2 posts below you will see the image the way it comes.  There are cat tails in the foreground and a row boat on the opposite shore.  I wanted to make a wintry scene and see if I could make this a Christmas card, so I taped over those elements when I inked my stamp, then removed them and this is what I got.  This is also for the Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge.... to show nature praising and bringing glory to God!

My image is actually stamped on some glossy paper from the office supply store.  I have used it to water color before so I knew it could be done.  It does require a slightly different technique, in that you don't use as much water and only barely wet your paper first.  You pretty much work in small areas and get it down how you like it before moving on because the paint does not move around as much as it does on water color paper.  That said, I knew I could water color on it and not ruin it at all, so I used my SU! Markers and painted on a variety of blues for an icy effect.  The glossy paper really makes the scene shine.  I mixed a little dazzling diamonds in with Polar White Flower Soft and added that to my trees, banks and a few piles of snow on the dock.  I used my Spell Binders Label 4 to cut the image panel out.  You will be able to see the sparkle and the flower soft if you click the image to enlarge it.

The sketch was from SCS and I did tweak it just a tad.  I used Bazzill as my base, then a layer of glossy cs run through with the snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I used my Martha Stewart punch to punche the white strip on both sides and then I spritzed all the white layers with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Pearl.  Love that stuff!!!  The blue textured layer is ProvoCraft, also gorgeous!

The ribbon is May Arts and the snowflakes are punched and popped up on dimensionals in a double arrangement.

This scene makes me think of Ps. 96:12..."Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the Lord".  Having lived in Maine for many years... I can tell you that there is nothing much more beautiful that those gorgeous Hemlocks ladened with crisp pure  white snow!  Heaven and Nature certainly do sing of His glorious works!
