Shabby 4 Patch Vintage Roses

Hello everyone! Happy Friday!
Today I wanted to get a card made for a couple of challenges. I wanted to play in the Shabby Tea Room challenge, which was an inspiration challenge about the comforts of home. I also wanted to honor Carol over on SCS who was today's Queen for the Day. I chose this card of hers to case. I used her basic layout, omitted the sentiment and replaced it with this floral swag. I used this card of Carol's to get my vintage inspiration.

I used my Layers of Color Art Stamps set, Vintage Roses for this card. I stamped with Memento and colored with Copics. I also sponged heavily with distress inks. I used a Sizzix embossing folder for the chocolate layer, as it reminded me of the stitching I do between squares on a quilt. The base is Bazzill, the DP is a combination of K&Co and The Paper Studio. I sewed the 4 patches on and popped up the image.

I hope you like my homey quilt. Wrapping up in a quilt is like a big hug!!!

Be sure to check back on tomorrow morning, when we will have the Our Daily Bread designs May release Blog Hop! Starts at 8am eastern!!! See you then!

Layers of Color Flowering Gemstones

Hello everyone!
I hope your week is going well! Today I have something different to show you. Beverly at Terryfic Times gave me this green die cut that she had cut at her store, and asked me to see what I could do with it. I ended up bending the cut circles backwards and stitching through each one to "tack" them down, adding a bead to each space. I paired it with these two shades of blue/aqua card stock from my stash, and decided that my Layers of Color "Flowering Gemstones" would look good with this layout. I stamped with Memento and colored with Copics, and cut out. I pierced my corner treatments with my Ornare template which I also got at from Beverly, adding the small cut flowers to the piercing. I added gold microbeads to the centers of all the flowers. Different, right? It was fun and actually went quite quickly!

I am linking this card to the following challenges:

Sew many Cards - Anything Goes
One Stitch at a Time - Flowers
Daring Card Makers - Die Cuts

Thought for today: Is. 40:26 "Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things..."

I hope the rest of your week is filled with blessings, and that you have time to see them! Thanks for stopping!

MMSC51 Jer. 29:11

Hello everyone! Happy Tuesday! I am just getting settled back in after visiting family this weekend, and celebrating our Granddaughter's birthday. When I saw the Midnight Madness Sketch for this week I knew I had to play along.

This is a sneak peek at one of the new sets to be released May 1 by Our Daily Bread designs, "For the Graduate". Since this is one of my life verses, I had to use it and I know I will use it often! I also used the floral image from the "Mom" set to stamp lightly in VersaMark for the background, and then I rubbed with Sage Shadow chalk. I wanted this card to be more feminine, so I used these pretty designer papers from Websters Pages, a Spellbinder's Scalloped (made out of the backing from my pearls package), some pretty Sage ribbon woven through the frame, ZVA Creative Pearls, a Prima and bling. I also sewed a simple zig zag stitch around the card.

Jer. 29:11 is such a wonderful verse... great for the graduate, but also great for encouragement. God totally has our best interests in mind... He IS love, and His plans for us are good... and FOR our good. I hope you believe that today and find comfort in these words, no matter what circumstances you find yourself in.
I am entering this in the following challenges:

Sentimental Sunday Challenge
Sew Many cards: Anything goes
Creative Belli Challenge- Die Cuts (scalloped frame)
Your Next Stamp - Stitching
Pennys - Open week
Clearly I Stamp - All Tied Up - Lace & Ribbon

A Wallhanging for a Mom

Hello everyone!  I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday!  Today's Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge was chosen by Randi, and is based on  Ex. 20:12 "Honor your father and Mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you."   What a great verse!  It's the one commandment with promise!  We live in a day where children often don't respect their elders, and seldom "honor" them... but God must put GREAT importance on it!

Randi is challenging us to make a card or project for our Mom or one who is like a Mom to us.  My Mom is in heaven, but I do have someone special in mind for this... I hope she will like it.  Instead of making a "Mother's Day" card, I made a wall hanging that honors Moms.  I used Our Daily Bread designs "Mom" set.  I really went green on this project too.  The wood base for my wall hanging is a left over piece of kick plate from our kitchen cabinets.  The panel that I stamped on came from the packaging for some Prima Flowers I bought at Michael's.  I loved the color combo on it and felt it would make a great book mark... but it turned into a wall hanging!  LOL!

So I covered my wood base with Bazzill Chocolate textured card stock, then layered on a lighter shade that I had lightly stamped with the floral image from the Mom set with Adirondack Latte ink. I mounted the Prima packaging piece onto a piece of teal cs from my stash, and hand cut the corners to match the Prima piece.   I added an assortment of Primas, and pearls from ZVA Creative.  The lace is from my Christmas Tree decorations from years ago when I used to add lace bows to many branches.  Now I have lots of it for other things!  I added some sheer May Arts ribbon and done.  I had fun with this... I really enjoy altering things!  I especially love it when I find ways to re-use things!  I hope you enjoyed this little project!

Elegant Paper Fan and News!

Hello everyone! Happy Friday! I'm excited to show you a fun project I made and to share my happy news with you all.  I have been asked to join the Layers of Color Design Team, and I couldn't be more thrilled to be joining with another Christian Company!  I have been enjoying  using these fabulous images over the past several weeks and really love them.  I believe this will allow me to stretch myself in some different directions including some vintage things, which I do really love!  So to kick it off, I made this paper fan using Layers of Color Art Stamps set, Merci Bouquets.  I love all the little flowers in this set and it's such a versatile set!!! I know I'll be using it often!!!

I used the fan template found at Mirkwood Designs.  I traced the pattern and hand cut.

I randomly stamped and embossed each blade with gold and colored with Chalks.  I ran each blade through the Cuttlebug with the Textile folder and then sponged with Adirondack Latte Ink.  Finally I spritzed them with Shimmerz in Baby's Breath.  I added very fine pink ribbon to the back of each blade, punched the hole at the bottom and added more ribbon and gold cord to which I added some beads.  The fan closes up nice and flat.

I'd like to thank Laura for giving me this opportunity to work together with the rest of the talented Layers of Color team!  I already feel right at home!  For more inspiration, please visit my Design Team Sisters:

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed this project!  Have a blessed weekend!

Kitties for Lauren

Saturday is my Granddaughter's Birthday, and she LOVES kitties!  She finally talked her Daddy into letting her have one, and it's a little gray tiger kitty, and she named her Sophie.  This Wags 'N Whiskers image was perfect. I colored it with Prisma Pencils.  For my layout I wanted to honor Sue (Coffeestamper on SCS) who was last Friday's Queen for the Day.... so I cased this card of hers.  Better late than never, right?  I did have to add a few elements to the layout... I added the Spellbinder's Lotus Edgeability die cut and some MS Punch Lattice edges.  I changed the rectangle to a circle and added flowers because Lauren loves flowers.

Card Details:
CS: Old Olive
Designer Paper: Basic Grey Green at Heart
Accessories: Spellbinders Classic Circles and Scalloped Circles, Lotus Edgeability, MS Lattice Punch, SU! Circle and Scalloped Circle Punches, Old Olive Ribbon, Prima Flowers, Sacura Clear Glitter Pen

I am entering this in the following challenges:

PIO - Is Spring finally here
Pennys - Open week
 Stamp with fun- animals
Other Lovelies - Embellishments
The Crazy Challenge - Don't Call me Flat

Thanks so much for looking!!!

Butterfly Collector

Hello everyone!
Today I have a real quick card I made to honor this week's featured stamper on SCS... Dara was the honored stamper this week and I have had the joy of meeting Dara in person a few times, and just had to play along.  Here is her card that I cased.  I used Layers of Color Butterfly Collector for my butterfly and colored it with Copics.  For my background, I stamped the flourish from Nature Walk over the BasicGrey graph paper.  The base of the card is a textured yellow from my stash, and I pierced the corners with the sun ray corner template by Ornare.  I matted with Old Olive and added some ZVA Creative Pearls.  You can't see it in the photo, but the butterfly is embossed with UTEE and popped up.  Also you can't see in the photo but the ribbon is really a pretty double sided green on one side/ aqua on the other, which picks up the aqua in the butterfly.   It is a super quick card but I had fun with it and it's nice to have one I can actually mail in a regular A2 envelope! LOL!

Hand Made Flowers... and the cure for anxiety!

Hello everyone, and happy Sunday!
Today's Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge is hosted by the lovely Candice.  Candace chose the verse
Isaiah 40:8 "The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the Word of our God stands forever."
What a great verse!  I wonder how often we stop and think about God's Word in the light of His Eternal nature?  This life and the things of earth are so fleeting.... seasons come, seasons go.  Life is very short!  Yet there is one Constant, One who is the same yesterday, today and forever.  He was before all time, and He will be forevermore.  He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
His Word is truth and stands forever!
Inspired by this verse, Candace has challenged us to use flowers on our project.

Thanks to fellow ODBD DT member, Sabrina, I tried my hand at making my own flowers for this card, and I used  shades of ivory and tan for a shabby feel, trying to keep with the verse... "the flowers fade".   The flowers are cut from two shades of card stock on the Cricut, wet thoroughly, scrunched up, then opened and layered up.  I added a couple "half" flowers for the effect of blossoms.  After they were dry, I added drops of glue to each layer to hold them together, sponged the edges of the petals with Adirondak Latte Ink, and let dry again.  The card itself is on a base of Papertrey Vintage Cream and layered with alternating layers of that and white.  I used a Cuttlebug Swiss Dot Embossing folder, then a Lacy folder by Marianne.  I also used a CB edge folder on the lower edge of the card.  Everything is sponged with Latte.  The corner die cut is Spellbinders.  The verse is from the Our Daily Bread designs second anniversary  DT set, Scripture Collection 4, and is the verse I submitted for the set.  It's one I have to use often!!!  It is stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and cut with a Nellie's Multi- Frame Die Cut.  The pearls are ZVA Creative, and I used a MS punch and Sizzix Leaf Die, to which I then added some veining before sponging.

This week's sponsor is Michelle Perkett (The Art of Michelle Perkett Etsy Shop)
Michelle is giving away a $15.00 Gift Certificate to her store!  Thank you so much Michelle!

Shabby 9 patch quilt for a friend

Hello everyone!  Where did this week go?  I have been so busy this week I can't believe it's almost over!  I made this card for several challenges. I have fallen in love with the Shabby Tearoom Challenge... it's just a look I love!  So I made this for this week's challenge which was to use squares, lots of them.  I made a 9 patch quilt and sewed it up.  I also made this for this week's features stamper on SCS, because this week we are honoring Pat Smethers and she is just one of the sweetest Christian woman I know.   Her love for others and  the Lord just shines through everything she says and does, and her creations are divine too!  I loosely cased her style on this card.  I also am entering this in this months Dirty Dozen theme... vintage.  I love this verse that Kathy submitted for the recent Anniversary Scripture DT set.  It is something we all need to do..... just be still and KNOW... He is God!

Here are the details:
Stamp: Our Daily Bread designs Scripture collection 3
Card Stock: Mellow Moss, Papertrey Vintage Cream

Daughter's Floral

Hello everyone!  I just had to make a card for yesterday's color challenge on SCS.  Betty chose retiring SU! colors Ruby Red, Blush Blossom and Cameo Coral.  I didn't get to this until 11 PM so I just thought I'd post it here.  I used the Our Daily Bread designs Mom set and added the bumblebee from the Happy Mothers Day set and colored with Copics.  Used a Spellbinders Label 11 for the image and Scalloped Frame.  I cut the frame again from Cameo Coral to get the matting, ran that through the CB with the textile folder and ran white ink over it.  Mounted on Blush Blossom base.  Added some ZVA Creative pearls, a Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, Stickles,  a bow and done.

I am entering this into the following challenges:
My Time To Craft - pretty pearls
 The Corrosive Challenge - Texture
Crafty Angels
- My favorite things
(flowers)
Practical scrappers- glitter and bling (Stickles and pearls)
Stamp scrap doodle - Birthday
Simon says Stamp: movies and dry embossing ( Image makes me think of Sweet Magnolia)

A thought for today:  Ps. 40:8  "I delight to do Your will, O my God..."

Do Not Be Anxious about anything...

Hello everyone!  This week's Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge is  hosted by  Lisa, and she used Phil. 4:4-7 "Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again" Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.Lisa challenged us to made a card or project about prayer and/ or peace.

Well, it so happens, that Our Daily Bread designs just released their Second Anniversary Design Team Scripture Sets last month, and the verse I submitted was Phil. 4:6.  I HAD to use it today!!!  The verse is from Scripture Collection 3 and the praying hands image in the background is from the set  "Lift Up Our Hands".   We live in days that are filled with uncertainty... many are out of work or worried about losing a job, many have serious illness and pain, others have suffered through disasters like huge earthquakes, fires, tsunamis,  horrific loss of loved ones, and so many other things... there is worry and anxiety all around us.  I find such comfort in knowing that there is nothing that I can't take to the Father in prayer.... nothing!  He knows our needs, and He promises not necessarily that all will be the way we'd like it to be... not that everything will be easy... but that He will give us the grace we need to get through each trial, and that He has only our best interest in mind, even through the trials.  He loves us with an unfailing love, one we can't even fathom.  When we truly reach that point where we can turn everything over to Him... He does fill our hearts and minds with a peace that does transcend all understanding.  I hope you feel that peace today!

I used a Papertrey dark chocolate base, then dp by Anna Griffith.  I stamped the image with VersaMark Cinnamon and the verse with Chocolate Chip.  The verse is stamped on Vellum which overlays the image, and I added ZVA Creative Pearls.  The chocolate edges are cut with my new T Holtz Sizzix Edge  Die.  The ribbon in Papertrey perfect match chocolate and to embellish that I stamped the praying hands on Shrink Film and baked it.

Masculine Torn Edges

I made this for a few challenges, including Our Daily Bread Design's Stamping in Time with Betty.
The Assignment: Any ODBD stamps!  (Yay!)
The challenge: The challenge this week was by our challenge host, Randi Barrett. Randi is challenging us to use tearing or faux tearing on our project.

I used  Happy Father's Day , one of this month's new releases by Our Daily Bread designs.  I stamped the toolbox image with Sepia Archival onto a scrap of textured tan cs, tore the edges, and then sponged with T Holtz Distress Inks in Tea Dye and Black Soot.  For the verse I stamped with Sepia but then I drew in lines to simulate wood grain, and again tore the edges and sponged.  I added screw head brads to the end of each "board".  The base is True Thyme, then a scrap of camel colored cs which I embossed with the CB Distressed Stripes EF and sponged.  The dp is Memory Box Twiggy.   I added some Hemp twine and a cross charm that says "Faith".

This card is also for Bible Verse Thursday  at Christian Paper Crafts ( make a masculine card and include a Bible verse) and A Spoon full of Sugar which is to create one for the boys.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I love knowing you were here!

MMSC48 The Aviary

Hello everyone!  I hope your week is going well!
I made this card for several challenges, beginning with the MMSC48 This was a tricky one for me with the three bows! LOL!  I finally ended up using 2 totally different ribbons to make them all work.

My Bird image is Layers Of Color Dotted Delights, stamped with Memento onto a scrap of designer paper twice so I could cut out the wing and pop one up.  I also used LOC Creative Flourish set to add flourishes all over the dp using different Distress Inks.  My base is Bazzill, then there is a layer of BasicGrey Origins, Prima First Blush and  sanded green from BG Going Green. All layers were sponged a bit with Distress Inks.  The bird cage is from the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Diecut.  I cut it out of brushed gold and added Dew Drops from The Robin's Nest.  My flowers are prima, layered, sprayed with Copics and then little stamens added from the bridal dept at M's that I colored a bit with Copics.    My ribbons are a sheer stitched green from Michael's and a yummy velvet from K&Co.

Happy Birthday Candace!!!!

Today it is my Stampin Sister in Christ design team sister, Candace Mitchell's, birthday! Happy Birthday Candace!
We are throwing Candace a virtual birthday party blog hop!. If you hopped here from  Chris' blog, then you're in the right place!
Each of us is bringing something that Candace loves to the party! One of Candace's passions is Coke Zero, so I am bringing her a BIG can of that, but just to let you know, I'll be bringing my own iced coffee to drink too! :)  Candace... I hope this is big enough for you sister!!!

I also am bringing the happy birthday card above, since Candace loves bright colors!  I made this card with the Our Daily Bread designs Happy Birthday set and colored it with Copics.  The designer paper is BasicGrey Euphoria... lots of bright colors!  I used 2 label # 5 Spellbinder's Dies and a ticket punch for the sentiment.  The butterfly edge punch is Martha Stewart.  I did a chocolate zig zag stitch just in case she wants a little chocolate!  This chocolate is sugar free and fat free!  Since Candace loves pink there is some pink bling as well.

MMSC47 Vintage Roses

Hello everyone!  I hope you had a blessed Easter!  We took a trip to the mountains and spent the day with our kids and grand kids!  What a wonderful time!

Today I wanted to play in the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge47.  I decided to use my Layers of Color Art Stamps set Vintage Roses.  The lacing of the panels made me think of victorian days and I thought this K&Co mini stack dp, Madeline was perfect for my image.  The image is colored with Copics and the bowl and flowers are then glittered with a clear gel pen,but you can't really see that in the night time photo. I used Spellbinders Label 12 for the image and then traced outside the nestie onto the back of this yummy rich chocolate velvet that was in the base of a gift box. I had cut it and then cut a SB Label 3 from Brushed Gold to mount the image panel on.  I sponged with T Holtz Distress Ink.  The twine is from Sharon's Ribbon Store and the brown half pearls are Recollections.  I did some piercing around the outside of the card.

Stampin Sisters in Christ... This is Love! Plus something for my peeps

    Hello everyone! Happy Easter!!!
I'm excited today not only because it's Easter and we have so much to thank the Lord for.... but also because I have been asked to join the Design Team over at Stampin Sisters in Christ! I'm so honored and humbled to have been asked, and I love having the opportunity to represent my Savior with such a great group of Christian women! Thanks to all the Stampin Sisters for inviting me!

Our hostess this week is Kathy, and she chose the verse John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." What a perfect verse for Easter Sunday! Kathy's challenge to us is to use the word LOVE somewhere on your card or project, or something that symbolizes love to you.

When I think of LOVE... pure unconditional love, I think of the love that God has for us! 1 Jn. 4:10 says "This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." John 15:13 says "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." The love that God has for us originated from Him... not because we loved Him, but because He first loved us and gave himself for us! On this Easter Sunday... it's the perfect time to remember that that love took Jesus to the cross to die a most painful death, but He did not stay there! He conquered death when He arose from the grave, and because of that we who know Him as our Savior have the assurance that we too will live with Him in heaven! I have many people in this world who love me, and whom I love... but none can match the love of God for each and every one of us! I hope that is your joy and song today!

For my card today, I made a 5 x 5" easel card. Here is the recipe:
Stamps: "Love" from Our Daily Bread designs" Let Us Begin", Verse from ODBD "Cross of Christ"
Card Stock: Bazzill Base, Papertrey Vintage Cream
Accessories : Spellbinder's Cross, Cuttlebug Ornamental Iron Embossing Folder, Cuttlebug Organic Flourish Edge folder, Spellbinder's Fancy Tags, Spellbinder's Tag Trio, Sewing Machine, Cotton lace sewn into a flower, Ribbon, Pearls, Shimmery flowers, Prima , Adirondak Latte ink

Our Sponsor this week is  Inktegrity - Digital Stamps by Joni.  Joni is donating a $10.00 Gift Certificate to one blessed winner this week!  Thank you Joni for your generosity!
To be entered in the drawing, your card must be linked to Mr. Linky by 11:50PM PDT (GMT-8) Saturday April 10th. The winner will be chosen by random and will be announced on Tues. April 13th.
Please be sure to make the link direct to your project, not just your blog or gallery, and please place a link to Stampin Sisters in Christ in your post! I can't wait to see your creations!

    ...............................................................................................................
I also just wanted to show you a little project I made for my Grand kids for Easter, as I am blessed to be able to be with them today!  This is a cute little gift set with all the fixins for Easter Smores in a jar.  I had seen this last year and if anyone can tell me where it originated I'd love to give proper credit, but I adjusted it a bit and to decorate the recipe card and top of the jar lid,  I used Layers Of Color Art Stamps Rise & Shine Set and colored them with SU! Chalks, blending with a waterbrush.  I love how the Chalks give such a soft feel to these little chicks.  I hope the kids will enjoy making these yummy Smores!

Have a Blessed Easter and thanks for stopping by!

The cards I really made for the April 1 blog hop! Did you guess right?

Well, finally the sticks in the bread basket can come clean with which cards we actually created for the April First release! If you missed the hop, we played an April Fool's prank on Kelley, and cased a DT sister's card, then sent it to that sister to post, and Kelley had to guess who made which one! It took a little work, but she got it!!! We didn't make it easy, for sure!!! I'd love to know if you guessed them right!

This first card I made as a case of Sandee, and it must have been pretty easy to guess because it was the one Kelley guessed right first and was sure of! Hehehe!

    Card Recipe:
Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs Mom (Image) and Happy Mother's Day (Sentiment)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo black, Brilliance Galaxy Gold (book pages)
    Technique: Colored image with Copics
Accessories: Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Edgeability, Spellbinders Label 7, Cuttlebug Swiss Dot Embossing Folder, Cuttlebug corner die cuts, ZVA Creative Satin butterfly, 1/4"pink satin ribbon, Stickles

My second card is a masculine card using two of the new released sets. I just love the masculine font on this "Happy Birthday"! I have lot's of more feminine happy birthday fonts, but this is just perfect for a guy! I cased Debi for this card. Did you guess that right
    Card Recipe:

ODBD April Release and some April Fool's Fun!

Today is April Fool's Day, and the sticks in the bread basket have been up to a little mischief! More about that in a minute. First, here are the basics on today's release and how you can win a gift certificate to purchase some of these fantastic new sets!

For today's New Release at ODBD, we are not doing a "formal Blog Hop", but the team has all posted a card using the new sets and are linking each other in their posts. There are no secret words or letters to collect. However, just like in a blog hop, there will be prizes for viewing every DT's blog, leaving comments on all those you can, and returning to the ODBD Blog to tell us you have done so. Two winners will be randomly chosen from those who do this, and they will each receive a $15.00 Gift Certificate toward stamps from the ODBD Store. (Note: the ODBD Blog can now take anonymous comments so everyone should be able to do this and if anyone cannot make a comment on any designer's blog, just state that in the comment at the end on the ODBD Blog) You have until 8PM Eastern on April 2 to complete these requirements.

Now for the fun part!!! Today being April Fool's Day, we decided it would be fun to play a little game with the new release sets. We each cased another DT member and then sent our card to that person to post on their blog today. The fun is going to be that Kelley  is being asked to guess who created which card. She is being asked to make a list of each DT member and write next to their name who she thinks made the card they posted. It's all just in fun, but if you'd like to play along, we'd love to have you! You can email your guesses to me at: gnywening@yahoo.com up until 8PM Eastern on April 2. ONLY ONE email please! The one or ones (in the case of a tie) who correctly guessed the most will be given recognition on the ODBD Blog when all the entries have been checked.

Here is the recipe for this  card:

Our Daily Bread designs Happy Father's Day!
Memento Tuxedo Black and Tim Holtz Vintage Photo
Chocolate Chip, Kraft cardstocks and Parisian Breeze dsp
    Neenah White cardstock
    copics
Manly Brads ( I cut off the brad part and glued on with glue dots)

Now to continue the fun, here are the next three designers after me:
    Dawn

Have fun and I can't wait to see your guesses!  I hope you'll play along on our April Foolery!
