Peace and Joy to You

Happy Sunday everyone! With Sunday comes another Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge! Today, our hostess with the mostest is Miesje Flack! In the short time we've worked together I have come to love this lady and I know you will too! For this week's Scripture, Miesje has chosen John 14:27

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid."

Miesje's challenge is to create a card or project either using a Christian symbol of peace, or one that shows or shares peace.

Today, our world is anything but peaceful! Nations are not at peace, families are not at peace, individuals are not at peace! Jesus was promising a kind of peace that passes all our understanding, because as human beings living in a sinful world, there is no peace except for this peace that Christ offered. It comes from accepting Him as our Savior and being at peace positionally with God! That is TRUE peace and it is a gift of God, and can only be experienced by knowing Him, and being in right relationship with Him. Then our souls are at rest. Then we know true peace! With our souls secure and our future sure, we can face uncertain days, challenges in our every day lives, even BIG problems knowing that God is in control and will work all things together for good for those who love Him and are called to His purpose! Our priorities change, and our troubles take a back seat to the greater joy of knowing He is GOD, and He is in control. The whole world may seem out of control but rest assured my friends, He is in control and He can be trusted with your littlest struggle, and your great struggles! He desires to give you that peace and rest in Him. My wish for you is that you would know that peace and that joy!

With those thoughts in mind, I decided that I'd make a Christmas card using Our Daily Bread designs Peace and Joy set. I just love this snowflake set and this year, we have a special treat because Kelley is soon releasing a custom die cut set for this stamp set! Talk about making a laborious task go quickly!!! Wowza! Anyway, this new Snowflake Die set will be available Oct. 1! The card is on a caramel base and then I matted with Very Vanilla, punched down one edge with a Snowflake Martha Stewart punch, then I used my favorite Graphic 45 DP. That became the inspiration for my color scheme. I stamped the snowflakes with More Mustard on Very Vanilla and gave them a light "wash" with a water brush to give more of that yellowish tone of the dp. I cut them out with the dies, super quick... and then used the new Spellbinder's Snowflake Pendant from VV again, and the large die from Spellbinder's Create a Flake set from Caramel. I layered them all together with dimensionals. For my sentiment, I stamped with Adirondak Latte and cut with Spellbinder's Fancy Tags. I cut a second tag from caramel CS and mounted slightly offset for a shadow effect. The gold pearls finish it off (Queen & Co).

Bright and White

Hello my blogging friends!

I have a Christmas Card to share today that I made for this week's Our Daily Bread designs Shining the Light Challenge #30! The challenge is to use ALL white except the image itself and the embellishments. Yikes! I really felt this card needed a silver or pink mat, but I obeyed the rules! LOL! The card is 5 x 7" and is embossed with the Cuttlebug Brocade Window. The paper is actually a glossy paper, of unknown brand. I love using it though, as it has an elegant feel to it. The image is Our Daily Bread designs Blessed Christmas and is stamped 3 times, heat embossed with silver, and water colored with markers and water pen. Then I cut out the entire image with the new Die Cut for Blessed Christmas, which will be available on Oct 1. I LOVE these dies! They cut like butter! I cut the next two layers with various parts of the poinsettia and paper toled it up for dimension.

I added some pink pearl flourishes from ZVA Creative, and some silver and white pearls from Recollections. The May Arts Silk bow finishes it off.

I am also linking to the following challenges:

Theme Thursday- 3 things( 3 different types of embellishments-pearls, Ribbon, Silver Baubles, Pink pearls and white too for good measure)

A time and a season...

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend! With Sunday comes another Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge, and this week, my dear friend and ODBD and SSIC DT sister Chris Olsen is our Challenge Hostess. Chris has chosen Ecc. 3:1 for today's Scripture:

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven

Her challenge is to use Fall colors or leaves on your project! How fun is that!
I used the sketch from this week's Stamp With Fun Challenge and I used Our Daily Bread designs Scripture Collection 1 because this very Scripture is in that set and I just had to use it. I paired the verse with this month's new release Brocade Borders. I used one of the border stamps on the verse panel, and just inked one corner of the more square frame in the set on the envelopes. By just inking one corner I didn't have to mask. The designer paper is BasicGrey Indian Summer and it's on a base of Papertrey Dark Chocolate. I used Versafine Sepia Ink to stamp and a SU! Marker to color in my border design. The leaves are die cut from scraps of the same papers using a JOY! Craft Die/ Embossing combo. I love these JOY! Craft dies! I sponged the leaves with my Versafine ink to show the leaf veins a little more. My bow was made with a gold sheer ribbon that I sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Golden Terracotta. I also did some paperpiercing on this after Angie challenged me in her wonderful Time With Post on the ODBD Blog this week! I used an Ornare piercing template for the corners and a SU! mat pack for the straight lines.

With this being officially the beginning of fall here in the US, ... it's always so special to enjoy the beautiful turning of the leaves and the cooling of the air after the blistering heat of summer. I love fall and always look forward to a little trip to the mountains to just enjoy all God's beauty! Talk about a beautiful palette of color! When I look at nature, I just see the awesome wonder of our God! This reminds me that not only are there seasons to our year, but there are seasons to our lives, and no matter what season we are in, God has a purpose for our being here, and for every experience we go through. Every breath we breath is a gift from Him, and is given to us for a purpose. Some of the seasons we go through are dry arid seasons, some can be very difficult ones.... and those may be seasons of learning and growth. Just as it is with pain that we give birth to a child, it is sometimes through pain that God creates in us the new character He wants. Some of the seasons of our lives are mountain top experiences and we feel like we couldn't be any closer to God. Those seasons are time to be sharing our joy with others and helping others.

I hope that whatever season it is in your life, that you are feeling His presence and are seeking His leading and instruction in your life! He promises that whoever diligently seeks Him will find Him.

Our sponsor this week is Our Daily Bread designs! Woo Hoo ... near and dear to my heart! Join us for the challenge and you could win a gift certificate to the ODBD Store!

We'd love to have you play along! If you do, please leave a direct link to your card on the SSIC Blog and please link the challenge in your post!

Be still and know...

It is time for Our Daily Bread Designs Stamping In Time Challenge(SNTODBD18)! The assignment is ODBD stamps. Cheryl Walker is our challenge hostess this time. Cheryl is challenging us to ribbons and lace! When you think of ribbon and lace you are not just limited to the fabrics. If you have die cuts, punches, or even stamps that have a ribbon or lace look, name, or design, those can work, too. However, you do have to use both! We would love to see what you create using Our Daily Bread Design stamps!

I used this week's Midnight Madness Sketch for my card. I used this month's new Our Daily Bread designs releases Brocade Background and Brocade Borders. I also used an older set, Scripture Collection 3 for my verse, which I just love. I wanted to show that lots of verses will fit in these frames, not just the ones from this month's release. I LOVE this brocade backgrounder and these frames!!! For my card I started with a base of Sahara Sand and then stamped on a peachy pink solid page from BasicGrey's Cappella pack with Sahara Sand ink and the brocade background stamp. My flower is made with a combination of elements using scraps from the Cappella pack and the T Holtz big flower die cut, and the daisy shape from my Cricut "In my Garden" cartridge. I also sewed up a lace ringlet for the flower and adhered it all with a big vintage looking brad. My ribbon is May Arts Silk (yummy) and the lace is from my stash. The pearls are ZVA Creative.

Be sure to check out the rest of the DT Samples this week! They are truly stunning! Thanks Cheryl for a great challenge!!!

Sparkle and Shine

Hello everyone! Today I have a sparkly card to share with you. I made it for this week's Our Daily Bread designs Shining the Light Challenge29, which was to sparkle! I used this month's new releases Brocade Background, Brocade Frames and a sentiment from the Peace set, the newest in the Full of Grace Collection. I also used the new Die Cuts for the Brocade Frames and let me tell you I am a woman in love!!! These make the job of cutting so quick and easy!!!

My card base is Bazzill Bling in a silvery gray, then the next mat is also Bazzill Bling in Black which reads more like charcoal gray with shimmer. The next layer is dp from Making Memories. On basic black I stamped the brocade background with white Craft Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Crystal EP. It really sparkles! I then cut that out with the Spellbinders Scalloped Edge Frame, putting the frame aside for now. I used the same Edge Frame and cut another one out of white to use for the frame this time. I laced gray sheer ribbon that has a silvery thread running through it through the scallops and tied in a bow at the bottom. For my focal point, I stamped the sentiment from Peace in Memento Tuxedo Black, then stamped the Brocade Frame around it and again on a blank white piece of cs. I used the die cut to cut them both out and then cut one in such a way to make the vertical part of my cross. I taped the two parts onto the back of the sentiment and then sprayed the entire thing with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Glacier. After that dried I mounted it on a stiffening layer and then mounted with foam dots. I hope you can see the shimmer.... it really does sparkle!

Thanks so much for stopping! Your comments mean the world to me! Have a blessed week!

Life, Joy and abundance!

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend! With Sunday comes another Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge, and this week, Peggysue is our Challenge Hostess. She has chosen John 10:10 for today's Scripture:

"I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly."

You know, God is so good! Many of us think of the joy of our salvation mainly in terms of an eternity spent with God because of the work Christ did on the cross... but I think we sometimes forget about the change He makes in our lives here and now when we come to know Him! His very nature is pure love, and He wants only the best for us. Before we were even born He knew us and loved us! Now that doesn't mean that He never allows bad things to happen to us... sometimes we need the bad stuff... perhaps for our own growth, perhaps as a witness to others of how having Christ in our lives carries us through difficulties. He knows what we need the most, and that is to be in a right relationship with Him! When we are, then our lives are filled with joy and true fulfillment! That is what life more abundant is all about! The first part of this verse says that the thief comes to steal and kill and destroy, and that is what Satan wants to do! He will lie to us, accuse us, keep us feeling all sorts of negative feelings and thinking all sorts of destructive thoughts if we let him! But Christ came that we may have life and enjoy it to the fullest! Let's determine today to not let the devil rob us of our joy and to enjoy our Savior and our new life in Him to the fullest! That's His desire for us!

Peggysue's challenge this week is
Use a series of hand drawn in dashes or lines, like faux stitching, or real stitching on your project

I have used a cute Whiff of Joy stamp I won from the sweet Crystal in some blog candy she was giving away. I had so much fun coloring this! I paper pieced Willow's dress and shoes and colored her with Copics. I don't get to do cutsie images all that often and it was fun to get a little practice in on skin and hair with Copics! I also used this week's Midnight Madness Sketch 70. I pierced around my panels and drew faux stitching lines with a SU! Marker.

Card Details:
Papers: Papertrey, Neenah, BasicGrey Porcelain, scrap for dress
Ink: Memento, SU! Marker for my faux stitching
Accessories: Spellbinder's Classic Rectangles and Classic Scalloped Rectangles, Prima Flowers, MS bough punch, May Arts Silk Ribbon, ZVA Creative Pearls, SU! Piercing Mat Pack

Our sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp, where you can get this sweet image I used as well as MANY others! Good luck in the drawing!

The Old Water Pump

Hello everyone! Happy Labor Day to those in the USA! If you are looking for the Stampin Sisters in Christ post, please scroll down one.

I made this for Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 69. I have been away and unable to do the last couple and I love doing them, so here's my take for this week and I have to slip it in there quickly!!!

I once again used the new Our Daily Bread designs set "Never Thirst". I used Spellbinder's Classic Circles (the largest in both the petite and large sets) and the pretty embossed circles are JOY Crafts Die Cuts. I used Memento ink to stamp the image and colored with Copics. I then masked and air brushed a glow behind the pump, blending out to a warm gray around the edges. The base is Bazzill, the DP is Memeory Box Twiggy, the circles are Mellow Moss and SU! Kraft, sponged with Mellow Moss. The flowers are Martha Stewart and I added Stickles to the little flowers in the image. The large lattice strip is MS as well.

Besides Midnight Madness, I am entering this in the following challenges:

Springs of Water

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday! This post and the last several have been prescheduled as I have been away due to the death of my DFIL.

Sunday brings another Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge. This week I am the hostess and I chose John 4:10, & 13-14 for today's Scripture.

10Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." 13Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

I hope you'll read the devotional thoughts I wrote on the Stampin Sisters in Christ Blog today, as these words of our Lord offer a great gift to all who will receive it! Don't you love the word pictures Jesus used? Water.... it symbolizes cleansing, refreshment, and is an absolute necessity for life! Without it we would die! Without the spiritual water Jesus offers, we will surely die spiritually!

My challenge to you this week is to create a card or project that refers to water in some way, whether in image or sentiment.

I used the Sept. release from Our Daily Bread designs "Never Thirst" for my water pump image, and last month's Harvest Blessings and Die Cut for the sunflower images I placed around the pump. The images are colored with Copics. I absolutely LOVE how easily the die cut all these flowers out in seconds and they all popped right out perfectly! Wow! What a time saver! I mounted my images on a lattice panel I cut with a Martha Stewart mega lattice edge punch. I lined it up and cut it from both sides. I then cut another one from tan bazzill as a shadow effect. My verse is stamped with Memento and cut out, sponged with TH Distress Ink in Pumice Stone, then adhered to a Spellbinder's Fancy Label cut from Papertrey Dark Chocolate CS. My card base is Papertrey, then matted with Bazzill and the designer paper is Me & My Big Ideas. The twine is May Arts.

So grab your favorite beverage and enjoy the hop! Be sure to return to the ODBD Blog and leave a comment there that you completed the hop and left comments for everyone, noting there if there were any you could not comment on.
