Have a Sunny Happy Day!

Hello friends!  I hope you are having a sunny happy day!

Today's Way to Use it challenge on SCS was to make a Sunny Card... and this is what I came up with.  I used a Tim Holtz stencil and SU! Daffodil Delight ink and sponged my sun rays on a white embossed layer from a box of Martha Stewart card bases.  I adhered that to a yellow base.  I stamped the fun sentiment from an ODBD set called Be Joyful over the sun rays, then I die cut some Asters from scraps of pink card stock, using  this month's release, ODBD Custom Aster and Leaves dies.  I just love these dies... I did a little curling of petals on my piercing tool, and sponged the edges a little bit, but basically just let the dies to the work.  I added a sprinkling of sequins just for fun.

I think all of us would agree that we just feel better when the sun is out!  People who live in very rainy dark parts of the world often suffer mood disorders and depression.  The sun seems to lift our spirits and give us a brighter outlook, even amidst trials and struggles.  As I was thinking about this today, I thought about what heaven will be like... where there will be no need of the sun... because the glory of God will lighten it!  He IS Light!

"And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof."

If we know the Lord as our Savoir, we have so much to look forward to!  We can't even imagine what it will be like to live in the very presence of The Light.... but I do know it will be wonderful.. even better than the sunniest happiest day we can imagine here on this earth!!!

  Hello my friends!  I hope your week is going well!  I have been struggling with a fibro flare since we got home Sunday night, but today's sketch on SCS gave me the push I needed to get a card made.  The sketch was very simple but I thought it really let the image and sentiment take center stage. 

I used this month's new release from ODBD: Iris (for the image) and Rose Mini Set (for the sentiment).  The design paper is also from ODBD's past release, Christian Faith Paper Collection.  I colored the beautiful Iris image with Copics and added a paper lace trim, die cut with the ODBD Custom Beautiful Border Dies.  My only embellishment is the bow, which is a seam binding ribbon and lays very flat.  One more on my quest for simple and mailable!!! :)

Hello friends!  Welcome to the Our Daily Bread designs June Release!!!

The card above is made using the Rose Bouquet set, and the Iris set (for the sentiment).  It also uses a new ODBD Custom Decorative Vase Die.  Back quite a while ago I had designed a vase and used it when the Hydrangea set was released.  Kelley asked me for a template of the vase and then Michelle added the fancy detail to the vase, and this die was the result.  It fits perfectly with this month's Rose Bouquet, but it also fits several other of the ODBD Florals!  I'm so pleased to finally see it as a die!  I hope you all like it! 

 To create this card I started with a 5x7" side open base, added an embossed layer which I created by rubbing a Darice embossing folder with Broken China Distress Ink and then ran through my Grand Caliber.  I then cut a Spellbinders Card Creator Heirloom Legacy die cut for my mat from white card and I stamped the Rose Bouquet  image twice on white card with Memento ink.  I colored with Copics and then cut out select roses to pop up for dimension.  I cut one Rose Bouquet image with an oval die from the same Spellbinders Heirloom Legacy die set, sponged with Broken China, and added the popped up roses.  The decorative vase was cut from white card, sponged with Broken China while still in the die, then lightly sponged around the edges to create dimension.  I added some tiny pealrs and adhered the vase to the oval panel.  I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Iris set and cut with a Spellbinders  Tag die.  I added a seam binding bow and done.

 For my next card I really had fun!  I have been wanting to create one of these card designs, and I thought this month's GORGEOUS designer paper, the Blushing Rose Collection was perfect for it!  This card is bigger than I normally make, but it measures 6x6".  For the front I used the new Galilee Rose stamp designed by Michelle Laycock.  I stamped with Old Olive and then colored with Distress inks and sponged daubers!  I went back with my distress markers and just highlighted  some parts of the image for contrast, but in reality, coloring this couldn't have been quicker than using the sponge daubers!  I used various papers from the Blushing Rose Collection, added a mat of the ODBD Custom Quatrefoil Pattern Die, and some seam binding. 

 For the inside of the card, I used the basic instructions found HERE. I did reverse my opening of the card, wanting the card to open from right to left, where as hers opened the other way.  I used more of the awesome Blusing Rose Collection design paper, stamped the Scripture from the Cherry Blossom Set , cut the panel with Spellbinders Labels 34, matted with Decorative Labels 34 and I decorated the message panel and "steps" with the ODBD Custom Beautiful Border die.  A little sponging around the edges to distress and I was done.

Thoughts of You and continued blessings!

Hello again my sweet friends!  I have another sneak peek of the upcoming Our Daily Bread designs June release  to share with you!  This card is made with a new Foxglove Single stamp, and the sentiment is from the Rose Bouquet set.  I love them both!!! 

To create this simple card, I stamped the Foxglove image on white card stock several times, stamping off for a lighter effect, and continuing in the background with still another light stamping.  I then stamped one image with Memento Black and colored it with Copics, and cut it out.  I used a base of Pistachio Pudding, then a layer of pink designer paper from a Heidi Grace pad I have had for a white.  I layered my stamped foxglove images to the pink layer.  I cut a strip of the same design paper and embossed it with a small Darice embossing folder, rubbing my Distress ink pad Bundled Sage over the high areas of the embossing (which is what I had used for the background).  I die cut the mat for the pretty sentiment panel from the ODBD Custom Vintage Flourish Pattern Die, and then stamped the sentiment on white and die cut with the ODBD Custom Ornate Borders and Flowers die set.  I used foam dimensionals to adhere both the sentiment panel and the colored Foxglove.  I embellished with these pretty new Recollections pearls in a color I can only describe as irredescent.  There is a soft green, soft pink and an ivory shade that comes out from this gorgeous bling, depending on the colors around them and the light.  I did add a few white gel pen dots to the centers of my Floxglove images and decided to keep the card simple.

I hope you are looking forward to the release as much as I am!  I have been away and had to rush to get a few cards ready to share with you as sneak peeks.... but I sure have had fun playing with the new stamps!

Hello sweet friends!  I hope you are all doing well!!!

Today I am sharing a sneak peek at some of my ALL TIME FAVORITE sets coming your way June 1 from Our Daily Bread designs!   The beautiful corner rose image is from a set called Smell the Roses, and the sentiment and small roses are from a set called simply Rose.    I also used the ODBD Custom Decorative Corner dies, Spellbinders Resplendant Rectangles and Card Creator Eloquence (for the sentiment).  The embossing folders are a Cuttlebug Anna Griffin Rose folder (white) and a Darise folder (pink).  The images are colored with Copics and are hand cut out.

I can't wait to reveal more of what's coming!  If your heart yearns for gorgeous florals.... this is the release you don't want to miss.  It's one of the biggest releases yet and I can honestly say I love every single one of the sets and dies!!!

A surprise party and an old pick up truck!

Hello friends!  I hope you are all doing well!!!

Today I thought I'd share something different I made a couple weeks ago for my Son in Law, who turned 40 on May 15. His parents drove from TX to surprise him and we had a "Big 40" party for him.  Why the truck you might ask?  Well, if you've followed my blog for long you remember when my grandson had his 16th birthday in Jan. I shared some photos of an old 1949 GMC Pickup truck that my Son in Law and my Grandson have been restoring for the past year+.  They have put so much work in to it and it is coming a long beautifully!  It is now painted blue, has a nice shiny chrome bumper, and it's really starting to take shape!  So what else could I do for my Son in Law?  However.... the big 40 is not something to be ignored either!  So I went on the internet and did a search for 49 GMC pickup photos.  I wanted a front shot and a back shot, because I had a little idea of how I wanted to fill the "bed" of the truck.  So when I found these pictures... I was super happy.  I computer generated the sentiments in Word, and the play on words with the "brakes" is because they just made the decision to not upgrade the brakes but just go with the old type.  They live at the top of a pretty good hill and I have been stressing over whether the brakes will hold! LOL!  Anyway... I then  filled the bed of the truck with 40... yes... count them... candles!  These cute little candles are die cuts from Memory Box.  There are 3 small and 3 larger in the set so every pass through your die cut machine cuts 6 at a time.  BIG help when needing 40!  I altered colors that would go with the papers I chose and cut a couple slits in the bed of the truck, tucking in candles every which way.  I adhered to the back and adhered the truck image to the card.  I think he was pretty impressed that I actually found the right truck!

So... while I was at their house... I took some photos with my iphone to show you the progress on their truck.  Sorry if the quality isn't great but... here are the shots I took when they first started the truck, and then what it looks like now:

And now... here it is with it's pretty blue pain and bumper, and one headlight! :)

They are now reassembling the engine which has been completely rebuilt.  Then the bed will go on and lots of interior work... but it really is coming along well!  This has been a BIG project, but a wonderful time of bonding and working together for my Grandson and his dad.  We are proud of all the hours of hard work they've put in to this, and we know there will be special memories that last a lifetime!

Hello friends!  I'm popping in to share a very quick and flat card made with the May release at Our Daily Bread designs!  I LOVE this set... it's my favorite of the month.. and I love it not only because of the pretty floral image, but every sentiment and verse is wonderful!

I stamped the image from Glory on Neenah Solar White card stock and colored with Copics.  I cut it out with a Spellbinders Labels 1 Grand, and sponged with Ballet Blue ink.  I cut another white layer with a SB Decorative Labels 1 Grand die, and matted that on another Labels 1 Grand cut from folded Ballet Blue card stock  with the fold just inside of the top die cut line so that I have a hinged top fold card.   For the sentiment (from the same set) I stamped with Ballet Blue, cut with the newly released Vintage Labels, embossed a part of it with an Anna Griffin folder (Cuttlebug)  and sponged the edges.  I added one little sheer bow and some little pearls on the corners, and just let it stay clean and simple.  I hope you like it!
